Diner Reviews
  • "I have eaten here several times now and have never been disappointed. My gumbo was very good, as was my entree, a house twist on jambalaya. My son and his girlfriend also felt their dinners were excellent! We will definitely return and recommend to our friends!"

  • "It was our first time dining here. We were warmly greeted and our waitress and the waiters who brought and removed dishes were outstanding. And our food was delicious."

  • " Stepping into the restaurant gives you the feeling of walking down Bourbon St. During Mardi Graus or dining in New Orleans. The menu selections are too many to count. I had ordered an entree without looking at the full menu and had to track down my waitress to change my order. The food came out in a very reasonable amount of time and it was very good. The restaurant was a little hot during our visit. The hot sauce selections were awesome, I even left with my own bottle. Desserts are a little pricey and the two we had(Coconut creme cake/pecan pie) were not very good. If we had eaten them at the restaurant we would have sent them back. Ended up throwing away $14.00 here, as that is what we did with the desserts after a couple of bites."

  • "Great good, but service was slow when we were waiting for our to-go container.. We had to ask multiple people"

  • "So much food. We ended up bringing half our meal home. It was just as fantastic the next day. We both had the BBQ po'boy. Oh BOY was that yummy- though i took mine off the bread. Had the sweet potato polenta and tots as my side. The Corn and Shrimp soup to start. I'm not a big corn soup girl, but WOW. This was good. Of course, after this meal, I had to work out extra hard, but it was worth every calorie."

  • "A group of us went to Heaven on Seven. The service was fast and friendly. Each person ordered something different and all raved about the food. Great place to eat!"

  • "Felt a bit like being in a "tourist trap" but food was good and service was good. Extensive beer list including local craft beers."

  • "Excellent. I went for brunch, and really enjoyed the selection. Everything was flavored perfectly."

  • "If you like spicy hot, this is the place. Good Cajun food. We get here about once a year when we come into the city for a musical or play in the theatre area. It's is a $6 cab ride from the theatres or a 20 minute walk, depending on traffic. Love the jalapeno cornbread, they now give you blueberry cornbread & butter when you are seated, YUMMY! Been coming here for a few years, haven't noticed much change in menu but that is ok, as they have a good varity of spicy and not spicy foods. If you come be sure to look thru the wall of hot sauces, very interesting."

  • "Eat here whenever I'm in town. Both the Wabash and Rush locations. Food is always excellent, never disappoints."

  • "We visited Heaven on Seven during Father's Day Weekend when my parents were visiting from out of town. My father loves Cajun food so I picked this place for him. He has very high standards when it comes to gumbo and he said that the gumbo was very good. My aunt had the shrimp and grits and said they were excellent. The Cajun decor is a little over the top, but Heaven on Seven is a fun place for some good comfort food."

  • "My kids don't do the kids menu as they like cajun creole and spicy foods. The wait staff is always amazed because the kids are under 12 and enjoy this place as much as we do! Always fun and well taken care of!"

  • "great place to go for cajun food in downtown chicago. make sure to have the gumbo."

  • "Great place to go when you are looking for this type of cuisine. My guest loves crawfish, and it was the special when we arrived. She was thrilled, and the meal was wonderful."

  • "Jambalaya is great, food in general very good, nice selection of beers (Voo Doo dark is great) and wines and good service too. If it wasn't downtown I'd eat here more often. 2nd floor location is odd, but it works. Ambiance themed with Mardi Gras decorations, beads masks. I'd recommend it."

  • "Greg the server was great and took time to explain the menu. Chris the manager checked if the food and service were okay. The bus staff were diligent at removing the empty plates from our table."

  • "I had been wanting to try Heaven or Seven for months. It exceeded my expectations. Portions are huge & food is delicious! Try the crawfish!!!"
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "I was really excited to go here because my wife and I love spicy food! Unfortunately, everything was very bland and boring. Over priced boring food. Really not much else to say. The server was really nice and attentive! We gave her a 25% tip even though nothing was great."
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "They definitely don't exaggerate about the fantastic gumbo! We had the all you can eat table buffet and it was 100% worth it. Easily one of my favorite spots in the city! "

  • "Each time in Chicago this is a definate eating destination. Excellent food at an excellent price!"
    Dined on 5/8/2014
  • "The portion sizes are more than adequate and I like that gumbo comes with all the meal choices. The gumbo is excellent!"

  • "My wife treated me to Heaven on Seven because she knows my love of good Cajun food....Worth EVERY Bite!!!!! Our server was on top of her game, and every thing that we had (including the Chocolate Cake-DAMN!!! ) was great. We can't wait to go back!!!!"

  • "This is a good place for dinner or lunch. I hadn't been in awhile so it was nice to go back. "
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "Mediocre food, rushed service (main course arrived about 3 minutes after starters.) very touristy."
    Dined on 5/2/2014
  • "You certainly get the New Orleans feel from the decor and the gumbo quite good, but neither the red beans and rice (thick and dry) or the oyster po boy (mostly breading) will ever make you think you are back in the Big Easy."
    Dined on 4/29/2014
  • "We had a good brunch at a reasonable price. There were a lot of choices of pepper sauce to choose from. "
    Dined on 4/27/2014
  • "I think this concept is great and there's definitely room for it on the chicago palate, but this venue has seen its day and be either retired or completely redone."
    Dined on 4/26/2014
  • "I have had a lot of cajun food, and this is some of the best food outside of New Orleans!"
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "One of my favorite places. Better Cajun food than you can get in New Orleans. Like the title says, the gumbo rocks. A cup is never enough"
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "Great Louisana style food! The gumbo was a must have! Loved the fried green tomatoes and the étouffée!"
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "This is a nice stop for a Saturday or Sunday Brunch when you are in the city. Good selection of lots of great food. We will be back"
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "As always the food at Heaven on Seven was great! The gumbo is the best around!"
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Had been a place for good eats but the two menus are confusing and the food was very poor."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Food is bland and nothing special. They push their gumbo which taste like uncooked flour, obviously they didn't cook the rue throughly. I had the shrimp po-boy which eas just ok. The bottom of the bread was all gooey, shrimp breading was not seasoned well if at all. The crab cakes were a little burnt and mostly filler."
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "Had dinner here with the wife after work. We had eaten lunch at the other Heaven on Seven location on Wabash, and we were not disappointed in either. I had the Southern Fried chicken Po Boy and the wife had Shrimp and Cheese Grits. Both were excellent, as was the level of service. We both enjoy cajun cuisine, and this is the closest you can get to authentic New Orleans fare in Chicago."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "We tried the sampler platter that included seven courses. The food was okay but not great. However, there is one exception, the bread pudding was absolutely delicious. Also, the atmosphere is great -- it just puts you in the mood to have some fun."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "Enjoyed a wonderful meal Sunday evening before Mardi Gras. Love this restaurant for the delicious food tastes and the wonderful, considerate service we receive. Calamari, jambalaya and gumbo were outstanding! Can't wait to return to try something else."

  • "I went here for dinner during an outing to the movie theater upstairs. It was very convenient on a snowy night. I've previously been here for dinner and brunch. Expect decent food, but not excellent. Highlights were the gumbo, crawfish étouffée. My friends liked the po boys. It is a very fun atmosphere, with live music and lots of New Orleans/Mardi Gras decorations. Go for the fun vibe and the convenience."

  • "Food was great, portions were a little bit on the small side for what I had. Drink menu was good. Prices were reasonable. I will be back for sure. Staff worked well together and server was friendly. Would like better music selection...seemed off for what it is."
