Nice place to dine however the waitress was unprepared and couldn't remember the day special. The potatoes that came with the meatloaf were a bit hard and seemed to be overcooked (or from the day before?).

nice building. There were clearly some major problems with the kitchen - 'special' (bison shank) dinner that the men ordered was WAY overcooked (or undercooked?) and DRY - like old shoe leather! Were offered only free dessert in recompense - no offer of a choice of something else, and neither cook nor management could be bothered to speak with us personally. Food was also VERY long in coming. Then adults were served before children - a basic no-no. Bison meatloaf meals were good, but overall experience was disappointing and expensive, considering... won't return.

This is a repeat visit for me. I had some friends in town from out of province so we spent the AM shopping in Old Town Okotoks, followed by a nice lunch at the Heartland Café. One of us had the burger - a large juicy burger with side salad. My friend & I had a sandwich with homemade soup - both were large in portion & taste. This is a nice destination spot as it is in an old historic church. While the food & setting were great, I found the service less than friendly - more 'officious' than anything. Go for the food & setting.

I love eating at the Heartland. It was disappointing that on this particular evening there were a number of items on the menu which were not available. I enjoy the turkey meatballs and was looking forward to a turkey burger and was unhappy that these items could not be served. I hope this is rectified the next time I visit.

We were a table of 6 and we were seated a round table which was pulled next to a square table, seating was awkward. we arrived at 630 and received our food at 735 much to long a wait! Also portions were very small based on the price. My daughter has glutten allergies and asked for her burger without bun you would think they would add extra potatoes but they didn't.

We had been told that Heartland had a good reputation but we were disappointed. We went for brunch. The food was uninteresting but worse it was cold. We think this was more to do with the slow service even though the place was not that busy. Th waffles we ordered were not warm or firm but cold and limp.

My husband and I went to Heartland Café to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. We had a table for 2 on the altar, as requested. Although the restaurant was busy, our server was very attentive. The food was very good. In particular, the rice pudding is the best my husband has ever had and he is a connoisseur. He chose the halibut, which was cooked perfectly and had roasted baby potatoes substituted for couscous. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs, which were very tasty. We began with a scallop appetizer. The 1/2 litre of wine was nicely chilled and the server made sure our glasses were kept full. We have eaten here before and the food quality will not disappoint. Overall, a very pleasant evening.

I have always loved this place but they really need more chefs or waiters. We waited 45 minutes for lunch to come and they were basically sandwiches and salad. Although that was not really important as we were three friends visiting, the attitude of the waitress when we asked how long the food would be was a little sharp. We would have appreciated someone coming to our table and saying it would be another ten minutes due to the amount of customers they had. Other customers who had arrived after us, got served before us and this approach would have allowed us to know that they had had only a salad so got served a little quicker. Over all this is a fabulous place to eat and I have no major issues.

Table arrangement was good. Spaced out, not crowed. We liked the old church windows. Three of the four main entrees were good. Unfortunately the fourth entree was disappointing. It was the pacific steelhead trout daily special. The whole dish was bland and boring. We liked the ribs, meatloaf and chicken.

We went to heartland for supper Thursday August 7. We made a reservation and had a nice table on the patio. The atmosphere was nice. The food was good. The service was ok to begin with and went downhill as the night progressed. Our bill was dumped on our table along with our dessert order. When several people tried to order coffee, we were rudely told that the pot had just been dumped out. There was no offer to make a fresh pot. When we asked we found out that there was decaf still available. It was 8:40. We asked what time they closed and were told 9. When the coffee came out one had a fly in it. As the waitress put her fingers in the cup to pull the fly out, she asked if we minded or if we wanted a new one.

Heartland Cafe is a beautiful, elegant choice for a romantic night out. Everything about the restaurant is great - it's ambiance, it's beautiful church setting, it's varied menu. The only downside? Incredibly small portions (think Tapas bar). But, it's still a good value for the price, but you may indeed leave still a bit hungry. All in all, we will definitely return, but the restaurant should consider increasing its portions sizes just a bit.

I was looking forward to a quiet, high-quality dinner with my friend, but our experience was sub-par at best. First, it took ages for our waitress to come take our order (although we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time). Then, when the food came, they forgot my soup, which didn't end up arriving till we were nearly finished eating. My friend enjoyed her meal, which I was grateful for, but my vegetables were stringy and rather bland compared to what I'm used to being served at gourmet restaurants that specialize in being "local." They then wanted to charge me $7.50 extra for the soup, although it was supposed to be a side. Thankfully, all was put to right, but I left feeling stressed and unsatisfied.

We reserved for my husband's 50th birthday brunch. Heartland turned out to be everything I'd hoped for. The ambiance was just perfect for a nice Sunday brunch, as it's in an old church. Lots of original elements of the building remain, including stained glass windows and wood floors. The service was friendly and prompt, but not so prompt that we felt rushed. The food was amazing. Probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Our guests also mentioned their food was wonderful. The coffee was terrific, as well. I'd highly recommend.

Took a drive Saturday afternoon for a celebratory lunch to Heartland Café in Okotoks. The parking was almost non-existent and access to the building was a challenge for one member of our party with a walker. The dining room was really noisy making conversation difficult. The place was packed inside and out which may explain the lag in service time. Overall, it didn't provide the atmosphere I was hoping for but they came through when lunch was served. The mushroom soup was tasty with just the right amount of peppery heat and packed full of enormous mushroom slices. My pulled pork sandwich was a little light in all respects (pork, sauce and cole slaw) but all the flavour was there. Great place but stay away during peak hours.

I love coming here for lunch so we thought we'd try dinner. I had my usual, Chicken and Brie sand which which was great. My date had the salmon which was a tad overcooked but still yummy. $5 wine night as well which is a great deal as most glasses are $8-$10. The selection of boutique wines is great. Even though we had a reservation we were shoved in a corner which wasn't very romantic, but was OK. I always recommend Heartland!

The service was very lacking. Waited a long time to get our orders in and our check. They never came back to see if our food was good or offer water or a refill on coffee. It seemed like the servers forgot us. The restaurant wasn't even half full so we can't understand why the service was poor. But the food was good and hot when it came. So because the food was good, we can forgive the lacklustre service.
