Diner Reviews
  • "We went this Saturday before a show. Had reservations for 5:45, show was at 8:00. Food was really good. Waiter was decent. Not AMAZING, but he was good. Food came quick. We had plenty of time to get to our show. We got there a bit early and we still got seated immediately. Definitely recommend for out of towners. Prices were great!"

  • "We went to see Beautiful, which was right across the street from Heartland Brewery. This was convenience and gave us extra time since we didn't have far to go to get to the theater. The entrees were reasonably priced and fixed menu was a great deal. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. We loved the giant pretzel! Will return soon."

  • "Went here before a play on a Friday night. I was able to get a reservation for 5:45p the day bbefore. Nothing available later, but it was day before. Bar was busy and restaurant was empty. However, some time from 6 to 7:30 it became packed. General pub scene and varied menu. Steaks were OK and smothered steak with mushrooms and onions not showing much. Had to find and ask waiter for more of both for top and he brought it right out, but kitchen should have seen the problem. Dinner was getting cold. Went here another time and kitchen was better. Great location near alot of theaters."

  • "food was typical chain restaurant food. service sketchy. others seved way before us after arriving long after we did but they were a large tourist group with a pre planned lunch. that wasnt right. the salad we ordered came after the main meal so it was refused and sent back. never again"

  • "I've eaten here many times. This time I took my son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter--who have never eaten here. We had a very good meal--great nachos! I had the shrimp and fries, very good. Our server was not efficient or attentive. But the rest of the meal was excellent."

  • "Our experience, our first, at Heartland Brewery Chophouse was very enjoyable. The entire staff were very friendly, each one greeted us and as we were leaving each also thanked us for coming. Food was delicious and the drinks were great. Would not only recommend the Heartland Brewery to others we would also come again. Great dinning experience."

  • "Heartland was right across the street from our theater and was able to give us a reservation for our group of 8 ppl on a Saturday night. Food is what you would expect - mostly pub-type, good burgers, fish and chips. Prices were reasonable for the location. Service was good, prompt, but you were not rushed. All in all, met our needs well."

  • "Really enjoyed the casual and fun setting. The steak salad was served in a unique fashion and was quite delicious. Everyone received it cooked to their particular liking with no error or confusion."

  • "This place is a brewery so there are lots of beers to choose from. Our waiter was very attentive. Didn't write anything down. He knew we were going to a show, but did not rush us. This is a great place to go before or after a show. Steaks were very good & so was shrimp tempura. Fries were excellent, although my mashed potatoes were to die for. Pretzel app was big enough for 4 people."

  • "We choose this restaurant because of the proximity to the theater. The service was awful. They have a waitress but then they have like busboys that actually deliver your order to you. The person that delivered ours kind of threw it at us. He slammed the dishes down so hard I jumped then he turned around and disappeared not even asking if we needed anything like...i.e. ketchup for the burger and fries. Since the waitress did not deliver the food she had no idea when to check on us if we needed anything or how our food was. Needless to say by the time she got to us the food was cold and we had been waiting. I could understand if the restaurant was busy but it only had a few patrons in it."

  • "Great restaurant - nice varied menu, including low-fat choices and lots of salads. Reasonable prices by NYC standards - not the typical tourist-trap prices you find in the theater district."

  • "Disinterested waiter, food was OK but took a really long time to arrive and the place was not packed (I guess I know why.) A truly unremarkable lunch - I would never bring a client again as it does not reflect well on me."

  • "We ate lunch here before going to a sow at the theater across the street. It was a perfect location. We left the restaurant a few minutes before the show began and were able to walk right into the theater without waiting in line."

  • "Chose this restaurant based on close proximity to a Broadway show we were seeing. Both of us were pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of the food. Service was also notable, but not to intrusive. We will definitely eat here again."

  • "If you are looking for casual American fare, this is a great choice. The buffalo chicken spring rolls are crispy with slices of tender buffalo chicken and blue cheese. The mini bison burgers are juicy and flavorful with just a smidge of BBQ sauce. For the entree, the steaks and burgers steal the show, and the baked parmesan asparagus is delicious. For beverages, beer drinkers will appreciate getting to sample all of the local brews in a flight. Indian River is my personal favorite."

  • "The best of the Heartland Breweries I've been in. We had 6:30 reservations for 6 on a very busy Saturday and we were seated promptly. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Great Brews, full liquor bar. The menu is not huge, but has a lot of offerings. There was something for everyone. I had the petite filet mignon and barley wine, as well as the fried pickle spears. All were wonderful and the steak was cook as asked."

  • "Good if you're in the Times Square area. Most New Yorkers can tell you there are dozens of better places if you leave the area but if you are there to see a show, or in our case superbowl blvd then this is a good place to stop in."

  • "Our waiter (Adam) was the best! He made great recommendations, didn't rush us at all (even though the place was crowded), and had a great sense of humor."

  • "At a matinee during Super Bowl week found this conveniently located restaurant on Open Table. The activities in Times Square were energetic with a massive number of people, we were happy that although we were early for our reservation, we could be seated. Their beer selection is quite good and they offer a tasting of their brews. The roasted tomato with spicy sausages and the butternut squash soups were tasty and a good start to ward off the chill. The burgers with choice of fixings were good and the service attentive."

  • "$30 for an iced tea and Cobb salad? Really? Salad was good, but small -- even stingy with the LETTUCE! Would be worth it at half the price, but since that's not the case, I won't be back."

  • "We came upon this place on open table and thought we would try it out. We had reservations set for 6:30 and when we arrived 30 minutes before our time they were so great and took us early. We ended up in a nice back room for our party of 5 women and after seeing the Lion King it was a great place to stop. The food was great, there was just a couple of mishaps but all was corrected and everything turned out great. Would stop there to eat again."

  • "The waiter was friendly, but could not solve the problem of the cold draft coming through. Also, the hot sandwiches were brought at least fifteen minutes before the salads arrived for the other guests. Menu selection was also limited."

  • "This is one of our favorite pre-theatre dining places. Especially when we want an excellent burger and fries/onion rings. They moved us in and out quickly so we had plenty of time to get to our show and the food was delicious! Reasonable priced, too!"

  • "Heartland has a little something for everyone, but the burgers are especially good. It's fast too....you can be in and out quickly if you need to. Or... Hang out a little and order their adorable little mini ice cream sundae. It's the perfect "I just want a teeny tiny taste of something sweet after my meal" ending."

  • "We visited Heartland Brewery on our visit to New York. We visited the Times Square location. The food was good and the service was great! Only a ten minute wait on New years day."

  • "The food experience overall was good. Most of the food for our group was well-prepared, but one patron's steak was quite over done. The food service was slow and the wait staff came by once every 20 minutes to see if we needed anything. It was, however, a Saturday evening, so that I'm sure had something to do with it. The flashing fire alarms going off and NYFD walking through to the kitchen made for a unique experience. The beer was great and the ambiance was also great."

  • "We had 5:30 reservations and the place soon got busy after we were seated. Tried some of their beers and they were all quite good, although pricey at 7.50 for a pint of beer. Hey- it's New York and in the heart of the tourist district. Food was OK, nothing outstanding - but it is a chain. Location is good if going from/to the theater. Waitress was a little annoying, asking us every 5 minutes if we wanted anything, etc. Seemed like she just wanted to turn over the table as fast as possible."

  • "We were here on Christmas Day and maybe it wasn't their A team, but the service was terrible. Our waitress never smiled. Didn't take our drink order until she took our meal order. She rolled her eyes when I asked to taste one of the beers. Rolled her eyes again when she brought Diet Coke instead of Sprite to my son. Spilled my husband's beer and promised to bring a "topper" and never did. The service was so bad that I can't even remember the food."

  • "Should have just drank the beer which was a good. Food was just okay, pretty plain and not much attention to detail on preparation or presentation."

  • "We were a party of 8 and both the area and bar were jammed and we were worried about our reservations but they were right on time. Waiter was fantastic and a great character which added to the experience. Food was great and the specialty brews enhanced the experience."

  • "Each year we bring our grandkids to NYC to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and we always stop and have lunch here prior to the show. The menu is perfect, the prices are right and the staff goes all out making sure everyone in our small group has what they want when they want it. We appreciate the efforts and will continue coming as long as the grandkids are willing to spend the day with us."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Heartland Brewery Chophouse for dinner on Saturday night and we LOVED it! Tried the seasonal beers, which were great. A table was ready for us right at our reservation time. Our server was phenomenal, he really made the night. The food was great. My boyfriend hates ordering steak out because he never gets the perfect medium rare he wants, and he loved his dinner and thought it was cooked perfectly."
