Very good new American food with local ingredients, enthusiastic and knowledgeable service AND you can actually have a conversation there. A top level New York restaurant that you can probably get in to on short notice and sufficiently cutting edge so that you can feel daring without having to ask how to eat what you are being served. It's the reliable standby for my New York friends and the go-to place to impress my out-of-town foodie friends.

My husband and I went to Hearth in January and loved it. We returned in September with some friends. The food is fantastic. The wait staff was attentive. We were seated in the back so it was quiet. I wish I lived around the corner! If I did, I would be here all the time.

Very enjoyable evening; knowledgeable waitstaff. Pleasant, non-intrusive service. Responsive to my complaint when we first entered about the temperature (too cool on the first cool evening of the summer). This is the third time I've celebrated a friend's birthday at Hearth, and no one has been disappointed.

I'd been to Hearth a few times and always lovely. Not so this time. Our table for 8 was 45 minutes late (at 930, we sat at 1015) and no effort was made to buy us a round or anything of the sort. Our cold appetizer for the table (charcuterrie) took 30+ minutes to arrive (by this time the place was mostly empty). Our mains arrived a full 75 minutes after we ordered. At this point, my pork chop was undercooked and dangerously raw. Its now almost midnight. After we ate we were offered some free dessert, but really, all anyone wanted to do was go home because it was going on 1am. No offer to deduct the app price. No offer to buy a round of drinks. Terrible experience overall, wont be going back.

When Hearth opened their doors I was impressed with their food quality. The dishes this time around were somewhat flat. The foie gras was not very interesting {compared to the french ones I've had in France} and I therefore found it a bit expensive {$25}. My lamb loin arrived barely warm and quickly became cold with the A/C, plus the carrot/labneh/amaranth part was mushy and didn't quite compliment the dish properly. On the other hand, my husband's warm vegetable appetizer and main course pork chops were the better choices of our dining experience. Perhaps Hearth's strengths is in their brunch menu and we may return and give it one last try.

I had dinner here with my elderly grandparents. They were great about seating us in a part of the restaurant that was quieter and easily accessible. We really appreciated it! The service was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu/wines. Food and wine were both amazing. Overall a really great experience and I'm looking forward to going back!

Chef Marco has done a fabulous job sourcing and utilizing the finest farm raised and grown products. I am comforted in knowing that as much effort that goes into developing the tasty menu is also what goes into sourcing the products that arrive in at the restaurant's front door. The gnocchi af delicious fluffy pillows bathed in a velverty sauce dusted with parmesan and cracked black pepper. Simplicity at it's best! It is a common characteristic of Canora's cuisine.

It was a hot night, we arrived dressed for the weather - pants and short sleeve shirts, summer dresses. Inside was freezing cold and remained so despite asking to tone down the AC a bit. Aside from our skin being notably cold to the touch, the food cooled quickly and that's the real shame because the food was outstanding while it was warm. Overall great food and with a more comfortable temperature inside it would've been outstanding overall.

The food was good, but comparable restaurants can do the same at better prices. Also, the service was not that great. We waited a while to be approached and then it seemed like there was a long time between courses. This was underscored by the fact that we were starving and we had to ask twice for bread to at least keep us from fainting at the table.

while the food was good the menu made no sense, the bartender was so cranky and continued to forget a straw in a high ball drink on the rocks 4x no one could drink it without basil in the eye and never smiled once. most upsetting they forgot bday after note on opentable plus confirming over the phone...VERY ANGRY, a few other let downs not expected like, serving green gazpacho and when asked oh is it from green tomatoes and the waiter says oh no there are no tomatoes, well why is it green? oh its zuccinni and cantelope,uh,yes i'm a foodie but still that's ridiculous there was no explanation until i asked, when gazpacho is made with tomatoes, yes yummy but felt there should have been an explanation for the course at this type of restaurant.

Hearth did not meet our expectations for food, service, or value. The lack of quality service made it hard to enjoy the meal, which wasn't bad. I was actually reprimanded twice by the server. Once for bending the wine binder. Maybe the wine binder is vintage? I don't know, but if this system is too fragile get something else, or build it into your menu pricing so you can replace them from time to time. The second time was when she was pouring the wine and I asked her a simple question about the menu. She asked me if I would like to taste my wine first. A good server would have answered the question without interupting the guest. Guest interactions should be re-evaluated. Overall, the experience dissappoints mainly because of the service.

We waited 40 minutes to get wine and then continued to experience terrible service throughout the rest of the meal. We waited a long time each time we needed wine refilled and we waited plenty of time to order our food. The food was delicious but the service absolutely ruined the meal. My quail was also raw but they gladly cooked it for longer. A few very loud diners nearby were also obnoxiously loud which wasn't enjoyable.

I have had good meals at Hearth and thought it was a good idea for a celebration dinner with my family- We had a good table and the restaurant is lovely- However, the people next to us were very very loud- to the point that my wife, who rarely complains thought we should ask for another table. We did not and as the restaurant filled up it just got harder and harder to hear what we were saying to each other. The food was good but certainly not great or memorable and I tasted everything. The gin selection was nice as were the cocktails- but for the money it was a disappointment and I don't think we will be returning. Loved our waitress!

After hearing good reviews about this restaurant I was really looking forward to brunch. It seemed as though the wait staff were overwhelmed for a Sunday. We came in at 12 noon and there was hardly any tables filled, so we were encouraged. It took a while before someone took our order. After waiting an age again, I had to ask the Maitre D' to check on our order. When the order finally came.. I was disappointed. No one came to ask us about dessert or if we liked the meal. It took 3 times for a refill of coffee. The adjacent tables waited at least as long and look frustrated. This restaurant needs to staff more experienced people who know how to handle a brunch crowd. They were pleasant enough but need more training in my opinion.

This was my 3rd time to Hearth and it has always stood out to me as a place to come when visiting NYC. (I do not live there but have family who do). A lot of people know it for its extremely engaging, informative and well curated wine list, but the food and the staff are just as strong. The food is all very sophisticated while still being comforting and hearty. The dining room is very cozy with good lighting, comfortable tables and a nice rustic look to it. The staff really help make this place shine: big smiles, very informative, and always encouraging you in the right direction. I only wish Hearth was in my home city and in my neighborhood, I'd come a lot more often!

I've eaten at Hearth a few times. Each time I ask myself, why I don't eat there more often. The food is delicious and flavorful. A friend felt it was not only great tasting but used the adjective "clean" tasting, I agree. I was trying to figure out why the restaurant wasn't more crowded. The only answer I could come up with was that it isn't inexpensive. I loved the restaurant and will absolutely return

Great dining room - feels cozy, current and classic with a variety of textures and colors. The night we were there, we really could have used much more than the box fan they stationed by the door. It was very warm in the dining room. We actually didn't have dessert there because it was so uncomfortable. The food was very good. The grilled quail was very good. The warm vegetable salad was good, but some of the vegetables were a bit overcooked. We shared the spatchcock chicken, which was served with snap peas. We also had a side of gnocchi. The gnocchi was very tender, perfectly cooked. The chicken was excellent - seasoned well, skin as perfectly crisp as expected, and served at a great temperature. Service was timely and attentive.

The tables are of wood; the chairs somewhat industrial -- it works and is appropriate to the space. The service is pleasant, very good and attentive (but not overly so). The food was excellent -- fava bean salad; olive oil poached wild salmon; roasted pork loin; strawberry crisp. Not particularly adventuresome, but delicious. The wine list appeared to be a bit pricy; we ordered wine by the glass. The pour was sufficient. Although a bit noisy, there was no difficulty speaking across the table. The lighting was effective -- ceiling lighting augmented the candles on the table.

I was so excited to have the opportunity to eat at one of the top 5 restaurants in the country and we were not disappointed. Took my 13 year old son and his friend there along with a friend of mine. They treated the boys wonderfully and catered to them as much as they did for us. It's an expensive restaurant, but the quality of the food (organic, non-GMO, grass fed meats, butter, cheeses) make it worth the money. The wine was superb as well.. I highly recommend checking out Hearth.
