Only negative was that we didn't get an 'amuse bouche' at the start of the meal. In Montreal and other fine restaurants we have visited we most often get an 'amuse bouche'."

Our table was in a corner and was so dark we were given a flashlight to read the menu. It cut down on our enjoyment of the food because everything was kind of gray looking until we put light on it. All in all a little disappointing."

  • "Positives first. Lovely space, great service. Sadly, it ends there. I am compelled to agree with other reviewers that give it a "meh" rating. I my friend and I found nothing ground breaking about the food. Starters were the hamachi and a special salmon roll. The salmon was quite good but the hamachi lacked dimension. Next was halibut w/ a black olive crust. Completely unremarkable. The other main was a pan seared white fish. Better than the olive crusted dish but nothing spectacular. I will say we are in the restaurant business so we are very fussy about what constitutes a great meal. This wasn't one of them. For food, there are better choices in Vancouver. Go for a cocktail and appreciate the beautiful space then move on."

We love great food and have had the opportunity to eat in some of the best places around the world. Hawksworth compares with European dining while adding a flare for local Canadian cuisine.   • "We ordered the tasting menu (5 courses) with wine flight and everything was excellent. Service was professional (our server was a bit cool but that didn't bother us). Yes it's pricey but we were prepared and the final bill did not shock us. We will definitely come back again for special occassions."

Service: Great, very attentive and great with the drinks recommendations. Service is what you would expect from such a positively reviewed restaurant. Ambiance: Great decor and nice view facing the buzzing W Georgia Street. Due to the TED conference, there were large groups of people dining there which kept the noise level a little on the high, but overall, we enjoyed ourselves and would definitely return."

I enjoyed my meal however my friend felt hers to be disappointing. Her salad was too salty with the anchovies in the salad. I love the atmosphere of the Hawksworth restaurant. I think my friend ordered the wrong dish. Our server never came by to see if we were enjoying our meals."

Everything was great , but still we would have loved to see more vegetarian/vegan dishes since one of us is a vegetarian and so are our local friends.   • "Had a large portion of tandoori sturgeon for my main. I admit I expected something spicier, given the Indian influence, but was pleased with the taste all the same. My first course was prosciutto with a pear that was exactly the right ripeness - no mean feat in my experience. My only quibble was that both the first course and dessert contained marshmallows; I might have paid more attention to such details when making my choices. The sommelier was well informed and very helpful - quite a rare find in this town."

  • "It sparkles! The decor, the staff, the food and wine. Asked for the bartender's speciality as my cocktail and received the best I have ever had. Perfectly balanced and involved egg whites, magical. The tasting menu was sublime and the wines with it were exquisite.I kept thinking about them and finally, a couple days later, called and asked if I could get a copy of the menu featuring the wines we drank. I was sent an email within the hour! I will be going back and would recommend Hawksworth to anyone who wants to experience fine dining."

Best resteraunt I have been to at this point in my life. The service was perfect....if there was any more attention paid to our table it would have been annoying, but the glasses were always full, food was punctually presented, and all of the staff seemed passionate about their product."

  • "Had a great anniversary meal at Hawksworth. We ended up doing the winter tasting menu with wine pairing. Although, the food was quite amazing, what really stood out for us was the wine pairing. They were very different varietals that we hadn't heard before. As well, it was nice to have a very detailed explanation for why each wine was paired with the course. We've had a similar experiences in previous tasting experiences, but we felt that Hawksworth really did a good job with it. For me, tuna tartare and beef short rib really stood out."

  • "Had a guest from out of town and we went to a few different restaurants. Hawksworth was on her list and we were hoping the meal would be amazing. Last time I was there for brunch during Christmas the disagreed were hit and miss. Some amazing and some just good. Unfortunately, when my first few experiences at West and Hawksworth were so amazing, the Bar is set extremely high, both recent visits have been let downs. Duck dish was probably one of the best duck dished I have ever had, but the rest were ok to good. Nothing impressive and there are easy more impressive restaurants in Vancouver."

  • "I have been to hawksworth twice now and both times have been such an excellent experience. i work in the food industry and hawksworth is definitely a step above all other restaurants in vancouver. with the asian fusion in most of his dishes, chef hawksworth has created a menu that has something for everyone, that really reflects the blended cultures of vancouver. the crispy duck salad for lunch, and the burger are amazing! the macarons are some of the best in the city with innovative flavors, and a smooth texture. i highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a fine dining experience in vancouver."

  • "The food was amazing. There is something I cannot put my finger on that is missing in the room. It lacks ambience. It was also extremely noisy and hard to have a conversation with my wife across the table. We have travelled the world, so we are used to dining in NYC, Italy, etc. For a high-end restaurant you are ushered through at a fast pace. It appears to be about covers, more than allowing the amazing food be thoroughly enjoyed and creating a personal feeling in the room. Service was very attentive and friendly. We would try it again, as we are foodies, and that won out over the other small issues that could easily be addressed."

Extensive wine list and the wine manager suggested a fine wine for our dinner. The only slight disappointment (very slight) was the size of our dessert. We had the apple cheese cake with walnuts. too small to share and our server may have wanted to inform us. Other than that slight item the experience was very nice."

  • "My husband's pork belly dish was the best that he'd ever tasted and he fully enjoyed the duck dish as his main. I had three fish starters. The sashimi dish was flavourful and beautifully presented. My truffle mouse crab dish was the best creative concoction I've tasted in this city...the flavours worked well together. This dish is well balanced and I look forward to enjoying it again soon. High marks for the chef's vanilla cream and lobster bisque with a few pomegranate seeds but this soup is quite rich and with only 3 small pieces of fresh lobster it was not very satisfying and certainly not as memorable as the other dishes. Overall a wonderful dinner experience. Kudos to Roger for the wine recommendations. Excellent table service!"

  • "When my husband and I want to celebrate a truly special occasion, there's one restaurant that is always our first choice, and that's Hawksworth, where we always order the Tasting Menu with the Wine Pairings. While we would never describe ourselves as "foodies", each course is presented so beautifully, the aromas, textures, flavours, that we are almost tempted to take pictures. But we think that's silly, so we simply dig in and savour every morsel of food and sip of wine. We have decided that the chefs at Hawksworth are true artists and anyone lucky enough to experience a meal at this restaurant will discover this too."
