  • "We were on vacation in Vancouver & had lunch reservations at this restaurant. Food was superb & the wait staff were very attentive We really enjoyed our lunch!! Would come back there in a heartbeat!!!"

  • "My colleagues took me there for lunch ... we both had the halibut. It was so tasty, each mouthful generated a new flavour. We sat outside - it was noisy due to the lunch time traffic on W Georgia. Service was excellent. Will definitely go back."

  • "the food was incredible and our server did an amazing job of describing the complexity and artistry of each dish. my girlfriend and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary and the ambience was perfect"

  • "I've been to Hawksworth a few times and always a good to average meal. This time around we ordered from the tasting menu with wine pairing. This was easily the best meal I've ever had at any Vancouver restaurant. The food and wine pairings were perfectly matched enhancing the flavours of each. It's a pricey fare but worth every cent."

  • "My wife and I came for our 1st wedding anniversary. We've been a few times before, and once again, we were not disappointed. I had the pork belly to start. The meat was full of flavour and fell apart when cutting. For dinner, I had the elk strip loin. I really enjoyed the plating, which had a ton of green themed sides. The combination of flavours and visuals made for a really stunning dish. My wife had the prosciutto to start. The combination of the prosciutto, walnut, and cream was divine. And for dinner, she enjoyed the squab. The meat was very tender and moist. I highly recommend this dish. We finished off the night with the white chocolate. A nice, light finish to a great evening. The service, as always, was top notch."

  • "The Hawksworth certainly lived up to all the reviews. I described the first course to the waiter as a cacophony of flavours. The food was sublime and we struggled to choose from the lunch menu as there were so many wonderful options. The attention to detail was excellent and the service was most charming and not over bearing. Unique food blending flavours so well, great place - not to eat here would be just plain silly."

  • "Food was absolutely fantastic!! The service was exceptional. Only thing i can say is the food portion were a bit small for the high price point. Recommend for special occasions!"

  • "When we were vacationing in Vancouver, I did a lot of research and decided that Hawksworth would be the right choice for my wife's birthday. My wife has a lot of food issues and they could not have been more accommodation. Despite eliminating a number of ingredients, her dinner was outstanding both in presentation and preparation. She was very pleased with the entire experience. I have no such issues but guild guiding my choices and my dinner was great. The server was excellent and although we each had a single glass of wine, their suggestion for each of us was perfect .They also prepared a non menu item for desert that again addressed her food allergies and we did not suffer a simple desert-it was scrumptious."

  • "We celebrated a birthday at Hawksworth and were overwhelmed by the excellence. The food was as close to perfect as food can get. The service was professional, but never obsequious, no snobbery, just friendly attentive staff. The rooms are lovely, the chairs very comfortable. But the food....oh the food!!! We are going back to try brunch. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Tasting menu very good but portions a bit large. Don't understand why they charge for bread, was not spectacular. Also charged to make a substitution for dessert. Thought that was unnecessary since it did not seem we were upgrading."

  • "never again. to expensive to loud, the food was cold. i was really disaponted."

  • "As a special treat we finally got to eat at Hawksworth. As we entered in, the dining room was almost full. Hype is always detrimental when going to a place which has won many awards. Our waiter was fun, and professional. With out him the evening would have been a let down . Cudos also to our sommelier who picked a great wine for us. Now to the food. Firstly we were amazed at the absence of amuse bouche. Instead we were asked if we wanted some bread. The bread that arrived was pathetic. Our menu was more reflective of winter fare than summer. Duck confit, foie gras torchon, sous vide short ribs, and elk steak did not reflect summer fare. Our meal had many let downs. This review will not let me list them all. I wish I never went"

  • "Coffee was served in a self served pot. It was so sour that it might be made a few hours ago. However it was changed promptly. Cost of regular coffee was $5. A price that they should serve it in better quality."

  • "Every detail was amazing; loved this place! The food was fresh and interesting, the wine was excellent and the dessert was understated and delicious. It's impossible to make a bad decision at this restaurant!"

  • "When my husband and I walked into Hawksworth for lunch, the first thing we smelled was a strong fishy odour. When we sat down, the smell became stronger. It put us off and we avoided eating seafood for lunch."
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "The flavors were amazing, that salad was possibly one of the best I've ever had. The only downside to our evening was the fact that our Entrees came at the same time, but most of them were cold. My elk steak was cooked perfectly but was quite cold, as was the duck breast that we had ordered. The other three entrees were warm but there was definitely more to be desired on the elk steak and duck breast. Overall the fishes were all cooked and presented on a masterly level, definitely valued the experience!"

  • "We dined at Hawksworth to celebrate a special birthday. We all had the fabulous tasting menu with paired wines and it was beyond expectations. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the ambience was relaxed and soothing. The wines were amazing and were perfectly matched to the course being served. The smoked octopus was of special note."

  • "Hawks worth is a dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant. Try something you would not normally order. The duck is incredible. Ask your server what they recommend. They know what shouldn't be missed! An incredible dining experience from start to end."

  • "This is my third visit to Hawksworth and I consider it one of my favorite restaurants worldwide. It's casual for the guests yet the staff are professional and the ambiance classy. The food is perfectly prepared and presented and the menu is innovative but the flavors all make sense and are a delight. The portions are generous and they are gracious about allowing guests to split dishes. I will return my next trip to Vancouver."

  • "We haven't been to Hawksworth for quite some time and the brunch was as good as my previous visit. The eggs were done well and the bacon had a lot of flavour. The service that day was also good and we look forward to going back for our next visit"

  • "The food was outstanding and hospitality was great as well. It was a busy Thursday night and everything still come out at a good pace with amazing plating and great complexity and detail of every dish. Extensive cocktail list and the "Hotel Georgia" cocktail is very tasty. It is definitely one of the top, if not the top, restaurant in Vancouver. It's the best restaurant I've been in the city for sure."

  • "Service was attentive and quick for lunch. Food was delicious. Only one tiny criticism re sharing the appetizer - no appropriate utensil to move a portion to your plate from the central dish. Other than that it was quite perfect."
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "We had a wonderful dining experience with four of us savouring the tasting menu with wine pairings. The service was excellent and they aimed to please. The only low point was the noise level by the end of the evening when a large party joined our dining room. Dishes were all outstanding!"

  • "Service was too notch at hawksworth. We had a well behaved 5 year old with us and they were so friendly. Only wish they had told us there was a kids menu."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "The food is the main draw, as it is truly outstanding. I would also give the service really high marks based on attentiveness and knowledge of the items being served, which with the degree of sophistication incorporated in each dish is no simple task. My only disappointments were the noisy, somewhat crowded dining room and the average price of the wine, which was about as high as any restaurant I have eaten in. Overall a great experience. I would highly recommend."

  • "I wanted to begin my 9 day vacation in Vancouver with a mind blowing, memorable meal. Research brought me to Hawksworth and it was worth every loonie. If you love to eat, go for the tasting menu- add the cheese tasting board with the wine flight- you will not regret it. David Hawksworth is a true artist with food. He layers flavors in each course and surprises you with some of the food combinations he couples. Ox-heart vinaigrette with charred Pacific octopus seemed like an odd couple on paper, but it was tremendous with the aged smoky red wine it was paired with. The wine flight truly made each course sing. My only regret was not meeting Chef Hawksworth and thanking him for an amazing meal. Vancouver is lucky to have him."

  • "Nice place with unique food and great service! Nice wine list and creative cocktails. Great ambience in a convenient area of downtown!"
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Five Sails has a ridiculous policy of seating all the guests once all the guests arrived. If your guests are not present, well, you are the one who's penalized. The rationale that the reception provided was irrational and unreasonable. First of all, why does the restaurant feel that they should penalize for having friends or guests that may be late? Should we unfriend our friends for tardiness? Should we disown our tardy family members? I find it difficult to understand how seating 2 customers already present would cause some time management in the kitchen as most fine dining restaurants can only do one to two rounds a night. And Jasmine not a normal tea? This is the first time I have heard such a preposterous statement. Unprofessional."

  • "Our server seemed to trip over how cool he was or maybe how cool he though the restaurant was... interactions felt awkward; he made no mistakes and i wouldn't call him a problem, but it just felt awkward..."

  • "Dining at Hawksworth is always a pleasure. Diana, Chad and the rest of the team always make sure that I am feeling welcomed, take great care of my colleagues and I and the food is always amazing. The personal touch and the food is why I will continue to dine at Hawksworth. Thank you. Rita"

  • "Hawksworth is the best restaurant for Brunch and fine dining you can find in Vancouver. My wife and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary and went for brunch at 11:00am. I requested our favourite table a couple days in advance and was confirmed with a VM. The service is outstanding and the food is even better. A must visit if you like food and service! "

  • "A bit overpriced for brunch. $22 for a very small omelette with tiny amounts of the feature ingrediants (sable fish and gruyere) was excessive even considering the location. "
