Diner Reviews
  • "Great tasting menu for two, with a board spectrum of wonderful tastes. Raw oysters were the only misstep...the rest was amazing. Great way to try a number of dishes that one would often not otherwise try."

  • "I've had dinner at Hawks a few times but this was my first time having lunch. What a great spot for lunch. We all had a yummy salad that came with a perfectly cooked piece of chicken. "

  • "My wife and I went to Hawks for our Anniversary dinner. We both thought it was perhaps the best meal we've ever eaten. It started with an amuse bouche of spring onion soup that was delicious and just got better from there. She had the filet mignon which was the best she ever tasted. I had the most perfectly cooked piece of fish I've ever eaten. All the side dishes were wonderful as well. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and great food!"

  • "Great food, had a wonderful time. Staff is very nice and knowledgeable. We will return very soon."

  • "The food was fantastic, as expected. Service was professional but hurried. This is the best fine dining option in Granite Bay, and one of the best in the entire Sacramento area. My only minor complaint; our waiter asked us 3x, the bus boy 2x in the span of 15 minutes if we were done with our entrees. Clearly they wanted to turn the table and were over the top trying to rush us. in their haste, they also forgot our leftovers which included about 6 ounces of very expensive Wagyu steak. When I pay $150 plus tip for dinner for two, I expect to take our time and enjoy the meal and ambiance at my own pace."

  • "We were there to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday and they greeted her at the door by acknowleging her special day. The service is always impeccable; never have to ask for water, bread ... anything. Esra was lovely; Rob attentive. Always a pleasure to dine at Hawks."

  • "Hawks is the best region "go to" restaurant for special nights and all occasions. Service, while good, is a little slow, and waiters need to have better eye anticipation skills."

  • "It was our first time at Hawks for a weekday lunch and we absolutely loved it! Delicious food, perfectly presented and prepared. We decided also on dessert and we were not disappointed. A gem of a place! Highly recommended."

  • "We have dined here on numerous occasions and always look forward to going back again. From entering this restaurant to walking out the door after a fabulous meal the service is impeccable, there is never a missed step."

  • "Let me preface my comments that we love Hawks and look forward to returning again. The food is always spectacular and was last Sunday as well, though I must say the service was lacking at our last visit. We were at our seats for an hour and twenty minutes and all we had only been served was our salad. We just waited and waited. This seemed really odd as they have just one menu on Sunday. While very pleasant, our waiter seemed disorganized and all his tables were waiting. There was some young wait staff that assisted the waitors and we engaged them after 90 minutes and the service immediately improved. They were very pleasant, understanding, and interested in our dining experience. So, good for them."

  • "First time visitor to Hawks. We found the ambience very good and the service excellent. The portion sizes were appropriate and the Filet was excellent."

  • "My wife and I had a Wednesday off and we were planning to drive to Yountville for lunch. Inclement weather and traffic caused us to reconsider and we decided to dine at Hawks. It was a great decision. The service and the food were excellent. We ordered the Asparagus beignets and the Ahi tartare. The beignets were the best asparagus I have had. The tempura coating was very light with just the right amount of salt. I wanted to order seconds. The entrees were delicious. It was obvious that a great deal of time and precision went into every creation. We will be back and although we love driving to Yountville, we now know we can stay closer to home and eat just as well."

  • "Hawks is our favorite restaurant in the Sacramento area. It's our first go to for special occasions or when we just want to enjoy a really nice dinner"

  • "This was the 2nd visit to Hawks this year. Both times the service was poor. Both times were Sundays and it was full. We felt like we were invisible. The menu was prix fixe so it wasn't like we had to decide what to eat. We had reservations at 6:00 and we got our entree at 7:00 p.m. The waiter never checked in with us to let us know what the delay was. I had to make one glass of wine last for an hour bc I picked it to go with our entree. I don't think we'll be going back. The mozzarella burrata with pesto was excellent and so was the duck, didn't like the calamari with olives. The dessert was also good. We were celebrating my husbands bday so it was very disappointing."

  • "Hawk's is a gem, we all know that. There Sunday Supper is something we look forward to. What a great way to cap a weekend and start out a new week. From the master bar tender, the serving staff, and the fine cooks in the kitchen. I don't know how you can't end the night with a smile."

  • "I've been to Hawks before. It was great then-- quiet, great food. Our meal this time was mediocre. The salad first course was the best of the evening as was my husbands soup. Our entrees were the disappointment. Trout was bland and served on same spring vegetables I had for salad. My husbands short rib was over cooked and dry. We didn't venture into dessert. It was expensive and I could have made a meal better than that at home. I am sorry the review is a stomp. It was not what I hoped the food would be and it was extremely noisy. I almost had to shout to my dinner partner. Not a great place to go for a romantic dinner out."

  • "My wife and I had 8:00 PM reservations but were not seated until 25 after. The ambience was great. The restaurant was buzzing. The seating was very comfortable. I ordered the gnocchi off the starter menu - it was excellent. Wife ordered the trout and I ordered the rabbit over pappardelle. My wife had two pieces of trout on her plate. First piece of trout was cooked to her liking. Second piece of trout was not cooked as well as the first piece and so she didn't finish her second piece. The rabbit was good except for the piece of cartilage I bit into but rabbit bones are small and so I give them a pass. The pappardelle was too firm. Food was a letdown for the price. We gave our feedback to a staff member who listened to our concerns."

  • "My sweetie and I had a wonderful dinner at Hawk's...we were celebrating 6 months of being together! We ate there during the week (Tuesday) so things were a bit quiet...nice for a change as I'm used to noisier and more crowded downtown Sacramento restaurants. The food and service were impeccable...as I would expect. Oh...not to forget the pre-dinner drinks at the bar...the bartender (I forgot her name) was flat out as nice as can be and very professional. Can't wait for Hawk's to open up their Sacramento location - it will have a different dining focus than the Granite Bay location, but I'm looking forward to giving it a try...and it will be much closer than Granite Bay now that I live in Sacramento!"

  • "The Sunday Supper was excellent! It was our first visit to Hawk's and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff we met were very personable, knowledgeable and attentive. We are looking forward to exploring more menu items and next months Sunday brunch."

  • "From the great cocktails (grapefruit drop - very light and a special martini type with run and herbed essence) to the small taste of green onion soup to the main course (burger - really?, and short ribs) and coffee - it was one of the best meals we've ever had. Pricey wine list but a great place for a special occasion."

  • "Hawk's is an excellent restaurant for a special occasion. The food is always excellent and the staff are friendly. The monthly Sunday Brunch offers a good combination of breakfast and lunch items is a good value. We spent $28 plus drinks per person and received 3 delightful courses. Dinner is a bit pricey, but the ambience and quality of the food make it worthwhile."

  • "The vibe of Hawks from the moment we entered the door was very cool & hip and energetic! Lots of people at the bar. Great service from the beginning. Very knowledgeable staff. The sommelier was new to the restaurant and was very nice. The menu was creative, as usual. For my husband and I being vegan, they accomodated us. Actually, the everything ahi tuna was perfect for us! I can't wait to go back!"

  • "My wife and I have dined at Hawks Restaurant many times and have been very happy with it each time. Last Friday evening we were entertaining another couple that reside in San Francisco. They were very interested to find that we had a restaurant in our area that is comparable to the very finest that they have in the "City". They also mentioned that the prices of Hawks is about one-third of the prices in their area. We will definitely return many times."

  • "A fabulous dinner with our friends. They always have great service and delicious food. Waiting for our table in the bar is just as lovely. The bartenders are above par and make the most delicious drinks. I'll come back again."

  • "No doubt fit for Foodies! Fine dining and just-right portions for non heavy eaters. On a busy night, the noise level can be a problem for those hard of hearing. Service has always been superb.."

  • "Hawks never disappoints! we had the fixed price menu including wine, and it was delicious! there was not one portion of the meal that did not meet our expectations. Love the decor in Hawks so elegantly beautiful and relaxing, this night we were seated next to a big group so it was a bit louder than I am used to there, but no worries. I would recommend Hawks to anyone in the Sacramento area not just Folsom, Roseville & Granite Bay!"

  • "Really enjoyed "Sunday Supper". A single 4 course menu that changes from week to week is served. My wife and I have been twice and have been impressed both times. The green onion soup was spectacular and we both really enjoyed Hawks' version of fried chicken. The service was superb and the atmosphere quite inviting."

  • "The food, the service are SUPERB! The staff makes you feel relaxed, and the ambience is elegant yet warm and inviting. It is our favorite special occasion go-to place!"

  • "Hawks is pretty much perfect….our waiter was outstanding, as was the food. We ordered the tasting menu, which was inventive and perfectly balanced to highlight local ingredients and items that are not frequently available on the local dinning scene - like rabbit, steak tartare and caviar. My only complaint would be service at the bar prior to our meal. The bar tender was so entranced in speaking with her friends she stood on the other side of the bar, not acknowledging our presence despite our efforts. After 15 minutes, we finally had to get up and interrupt her conversation to place a drink order. Not enough of a blip to ruin the evening, but a huge misstep in what would otherwise be a perfect experience."

  • "The Hawks experience was not bad nor was it great = and I expected great! Went to lunch on a Wednesday to celebrate my Mom's birthday. Waiter seemed impatient; not rude, but we got the feeling that we were a nusance. Ahi "salad" was delicious but we did expect some greens with it. Nice touch of birthday decor on the dessert. Wine was Ok but expected better for the price and we had to refill our glasses ourselves; also, there was no ice bucket for it and it warmed up sitting on the table. They probably give a better dining experience for dinner (I hope)."

  • "What sets apart great restaurants from the average are the staff that pay attention to details. And what we've found at Hawks is that after several visits with different wait staff and buss staff, they are all well trained. Although not directly exposed to the food staff in the kitchen, it is apparent that they are no different as each course comes out well prepared and wonderfully presented. My only lament is that the desert souffles are not available more often; they are excellent, and i consider myself a connoisseur as i have sampled them all across the country and Europe as well!"

  • "Having dined at Hawks on several occasions, my wife and I were looking forward to a great Valentine's lunch. What we got was the most inept service we've ever experienced at a fine restaurant. Not only did we wait 50 minutes to receive our first courses (a salad and soup) but we watched plates of food being shuffled from one diner to another and from one table to another. I sent an e-mail to the restaurant, hoping that their response would allow me to forego this negative review; however, with no such response, I feel compelled to share with other would-be diners. Hopefully, this was an aberration. At any rate, it was a disappointing way to spend a holiday."

  • "This was our first visit to Hawks and we would defiinitely go back. Service was excellent, food was superb, especially the spring salad, and the atmosphere was to our taste as we could talk and hear each other. We did lunch on Valentine's Day and the menu beautifully suited a special occasion."
