A restaurant concept that’s a first-of-its-kind for the nation’s fourth largest city; the “green building” design, created by Collaborative Projects, paired with Chef Randy Evans’ regional Texas cuisine. Evans delights diners with a farm-to-table menu of seasonal produce, artisan cheeses and meats sourced from Texas farmers. Gulf shrimp corn dogs, homegrown tomatoes with capriella mozzarella, deviled farm eggs, Texan wild boar chili, bacon spaetzle, free range chicken, all star on a seasonal, ever-changing menu that also pays homage to Lone Star favorites such as Akaushi steaks and Junior League-style desserts.   • "I took my girlfriend here for Valentine's Day. The food was outstanding, as expected - we had eaten here a couple years ago and had been very impressed. The most impressive part was the service. She started to not feel well after the second course, and we had to cut our dinner short. Our server not only packed up everything we had left to go, he brought her some mineral water, and even reduced our bill. Excellent food and service during a high-traffic night like Valentine's Day is a true testament to the overall quality of this restaurant."

  • "Ambiance is great, decor unique, had competent wait staff. Cocktail - had the bee sting (a jalapeno infused lemon drop kind of drink) it was quality, had great balance. Im a sucker for anything with some kick and this did it just right. Appetizer - had the shrimp corn dogs based on some reviews of them I read online prior to dining - they were very good, unique, crispy; unfortunately the high point of the meal. Entree - I had the flat iron medium rare, wife had the cajun fried chop/jalapeno gastrique flat iron - was undercooked, borderline rare, stringy sinewy meat, just a bad cut chop- way overcooked, ruined the meat. - dry, tough. for a 140$ dinner you can't fail at cooking meats to the proper doneness, too bad."

  • "The food here is excellent and creative. I know that the restaurant is very green, but unfortunately, its neighbors are not. There is a Twin Peaks at the end of the street, which attracts guys wanting to flirt with scantily-clad women. These guys usually have loud cars and motorcycles. We sat on the patio at Haven, which was really beautiful, but every few minutes a muscle car or extremely deafening motorcycle would race by at full throttle and drown out our conversation. If it wasn't so cold inside, we would have sat indoors. The patio is so nice. Too bad the other place has to ruin it with their rowdy patrons."

  • "Normally, this restaurant had been great when I've come here for lunch. The best coffee ever. Awesome frito pie for a fancy place. Great lunch menu. Went here for Valentine's day set menu. The amuse bouche was great. The appetizer was great. Phyllo shrimp beignet with creamed spinach. I don't like creamed spinach and I like this. The filet of beef I ordered and the fish my husband ordered was flat under seasoned. We took it home and added some seasoning then it was great. Other than that little hiccup, it was great. Great service from Nick. Sat outside. Great sitting even though the view is Twin Peaks, which can be exciting if there is a fight. He suggested a great wine. Will definitely be back."

  • "Haven is a nice place and the food is pretty good. That being said, the red snapper was a little overcooked and none of the dishes were noteworthy enough to be memorable. The flavors were good but nothing about them were so distinguishing that I feel the need to go back."

  • "When we first arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted promptly by a hostess and she showed us to our table. The restaurant looked as if it had just opened; with servers polishing glassware and silverware around the restaurant. Once the food came out, we were pleasantly surprised, everything we tasted was wonderful. From a food standpoint, everything was great; as far as the service we both were shocked by the lack of communication and shortness of attention to our table. I waited tables in the fine dining arena during college and I appreciate artful & tasty food and certainly great service, but we will be steering clear of this particular server next time we visit (P.S. all the other servers were doing a great job in my opinion)."

  • "Valentine's Day out was special menu. We had shrimp begniets and pork belly dishes for 1st course. Both delicious. Then beef filet and fish with crab over quinoa pilaf. Very tasty. Fish was a bit overdone, but overall very good. Cheesecake for dessert yummy. Cheese plate not so good. Waitress could not name cheeses. Toast was stale."

  • "Overall was disappointed in our visit and likely will not return to this restaurant. We had to wait 35 minutes past our reservation time to be seated and there were several parties in the same boat as us. The noise level in the restaurant was so loud that my wife, sitting directly across from me at a two person table, and I could barely hear each other so basically we didn't talk during dinner. The service was very good and our food came quickly (which made the reservation issue even more puzzling). I would say the food was good but not great and didn't live up to all the accolades this place has received."

  • "After a slow start, the service got it together. It took ten minutes after being seated before we had water at our table and another ten minutes before our drinks were brought to the table. A candid conversation with the manager however, got that taken care of; from that point on the service was good. The food was quite good, and in all, our party of six were all pleased."

  • "The food was excellent. The ambiance was more casual than I was expecting, so I would not recommend it for a romantic evening, such as what we were hoping for. The wine server knocked our full bottle of wine over! Thankfully I didn't get too much wine on me. However, we were dismayed with how the whole thing was handled. At another restaurant where a similar mishap happened to us, all levels of management came over to our table and apologized, and we were given a break on our bill. At Haven, the staff kept putting more napkins on top of the spilled wine, which kept soaking through. Inexcusable that someone didn't change the whole setting. Also we had to ask for more wine. This should have been automatic! Very disappointing!!"

  • "While we'd readily recommend this restaurant for its food, we'd place a caveat that you may wish to visit otherwise than on a busy Saturday night. We and our invited guests had to wait 50-minutes for our reserved table--which can take away from even the finest meal. But once we sat down at the table, all was fine with creative food and professional service."

The items our table ordered: Appetizer: Shrimp Corn Dogs Country Fried Chicken Livers Sides: Fried Green Tomato Croutons Cheese grits Main: Iron Seared Gulf Fish - a bit dry Akaushi Flat Iron Steak Family Style Chicken Dinner - this is a big order. Can definitely feed 2-3 people. Dessert: Cheesecake But the price you pay for their food you would expect service to be just as good. I appreciated the fact a lot of the items were locally grown. I love the idea of farm to table restaurants. Despite the food being great we unfortunately won't be back. I don't want to spend that kind of money with that type of service."

  • "Overall the dining experience was pretty good. My cocktail was expertly mixed. The sweet potatoes with the jalapeno gastrique that came with my entree were delicious, and the cinnamon roll with flambéd bananas was decadent. Where I went wrong was ordering the Cajun fried pork chop. It was tough, flavorless, and difficult to eat. Our service was excellent, but our table for 7 was a little small. I'm not sure if they can handle parties larger than 5 very well. I would be willing to give it another try, but I wouldn't say it's worth all the hype."

We heard about the restaurant from one of our staff who was raving about the Boars Head chili, almost all tried it and loved it. We were happy and will definitely be back."

  • "My wife and I visited Haven to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The entire experience was perfect. The lighting and music were just right. Not too bright, not too dark, not too loud, not too quiet. Just right. Our server was well versed in Haven's offerings, and had a perfect table side manner. He was always there right when you needed him and never when you didn't. My wife chose the grilled wahoo, while I enjoyed the flat iron filet of Akaushi beef. Both were unbelievable. And of course, what night would be complete without coffee and dessert? The Coconut Tres Leches Bread Pudding was ridiculous. All in all, a great night. We can't wait to return."

  • "The risotto was a bit mushy...like oatmeal but lots of flavor and the accompanying shrimp were on the small side. The flat iron steak was absolutely perfectly done, tender and full of flavor. If you get a chance, try the shrimp corn dogs...perfection. The deviled eggs were "ok" but the cheese selection was a perfect 10. It seems that there were dishes...both main course and appetizers that were hit or miss. Over all I would definitely return as the pluses far outweighed the minuses."

  • "White wine was warm. The IRON SEARED GULF FISH, cauliflower confiture, shrimp& oyster brown butter, apple slaw ($34) was most disappointing of three orders. The fish -- flounder -- was nicely seared but so mushy that it was difficult to eat. There was no apple slaw and no brown butter. Instead green sprouts sat atop cold boiled shrimp and raw oysters. The pork chop ($32) and the filet of beef ($38) ordered by other diners were better than the fish. The diner who ordered the filet did not have the sides because of dietary restrictions. Still hungry, we ordered the FREE RANGE DEVILED EGGS, bread-n-butter pickle relish with caviar ($6) No pickle relish. The yolks were very dry with no seasoning. We won't go back."

  • "I have been to Haven a few times before, but mostly for lunch and have only tried their salads and a few appetizers. It was great then and this last visit was even better. This was our selections. Chicken livers- Delightful and fried lightly and the gravy and biscuit was flavorful. Deviled Eggs- Light and fluffy and just perfect. Torn Greens Salad- A good salad but prefer other salads. Fried Chicken Family Style- Had to have it since we saw it at every table and it was just amazing. Crunchy, moist and flavorful. Served with mashed potatoes and that yummy gravy again. Mushroom and leeks were good as well. Dessert was the Bread pudding and Cinnamon Roll- Truly decadent and just over the top desserts. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Haven is a great little spot to dine with friends, co-workers, or significant other. It's very open so it can get pretty noisy. The food is good and the menu boasts some locals sources. They also provide a decent amount of gluten-free options. The only issue I had with the food is that is was a little salty (had the pulled pork, no bun). Everyone else loved their meals. The staff is very friendly and cheerful. It gets very busy at lunch so be sure to tell them you need seperate checks ahead of time (we had a group of 7). It took almost a half hour to get the check and pay our bills. We are looking forward to trying out the cold bar for our next visit!"

  • "Food was fine but warm. I prefer for my food to be serve hot, our food took a long time be serve. The gumbo was good but would have been if it wasn't cool. I'm not going food preparers for my okay service but I will blame for the server for not be attentive at all. We had to ask our server several times to refill our glasses of water, she still took her time. There were only 3 tables be serve, including ours. I may try this restaurant again depending if I can have a different server, for a better dinning experience."

The service was a little shaky, but I think they were short-staffed on New Year Day. Hard to serve on New Year's Eve and serve brunch the next day. Too much pressure on us to order right away our wines, appetizers etc.. She brought the bill without asking if we were ready or not. We did not even want to order desserts... The manager never came to our table to ask about how everything was going on. I think that the only good thing they have is the valet!"

  • "I went because the chef was on Chopped, but the food was less than what I can cook up. The Beans were very heavily spiced - way too hot. The potato chips had no flavor or seasoning. The cole slaw was bland with mayo and had to ask for lemon, vinegar and sugar to be added just to give it some flavor. The tator tots were tasty though. The Chicken Enchilada also needed more seasoning. The beginners favor was a plate of bread biscuits with butter and I could buy those in the store. Even bread sticks would have been nicer. The water is served in a wine mason bottle and I'm not sure that was even clean. Also I got no lemon or sugar on my table. You have to pay for parking by tipping the valet attendant. I hoped for more, but got less."
