Diner Reviews
  • "Menu is limited, but food was amazing & so was the service😃"

  • "Lunch at Haven was wonderful. I had the soft-shell crab tempura sandwich--WOW! My friend had the grilled goat cheese sandwich and loved it. Inside or outside, the place is so pleasant and relaxing. The lunch menu is diverse enough with appetizers, sandwiches and salads, and, of course, the signature burger. I liked that, with the sandwiches, you had a choice of mixed green salad, fries or quinoa salad. We both chose the quinoa salad and loved it. We had split the heirloom tomato salad first--that is my all-time favorite dish. I'm glad I have days off during the week and can enjoy such a wonderful place for lunch."

  • "I was looking for outdoor dining and discovered this restaurant. We arrived in the middle of a big thunderstorm, needless to say we were seated inside close to a window, so the view was still great. We arrived before 7PM and were pleasantly surprised the restaurant offered a set menu option for $48 (well worth it), the scond pleasant surprise was the quality of the food. My seafood risotto was excellent, so was the appetizer of tuna tartar. My dining companions were all happy with their steak orders. Dessert arrived for our friend, who had a birthday to celebrate, with a candle. I had mentioned that fact online in my reservation and had not reminded anybody about it. So nice surprise that management thought of it. We will be back."

  • "Based on glowing reviews in the July issue of New Jersey Magazine, I was hoping to love Haven. While the food was quite good, the view of NYC from anywhere in the restaurant beautiful and the service was close to outstanding, felt the prices were high. Used to BYOs in the Essex County area that have equally flavorful meals, but without the view and hefty price tag. If you're in the Bergen County area this is a gem and easier to park than going into the city."

  • "I was celebrating my girlfriends birthday and they made it perfect. Even though it was pretty windy they found a way to make sure she could blew the candle. Amazing Service & Great outdoor dining."

  • "We went to this relatively new restaurant for the first time. Located on the water in Edgewater, we were impressed with the ambiance and good energy. The lounge area where we started, was intimate and pleasant. The restaurant is very lovely but the outside dining area is outstanding with great views of NYC. Our table was located beautifully. We did want to order a couple of items that were already gone, so we took substitutes. I had the entree salad with shrimp….excellent. The duck entree was enjoyed by my dining partner. We were pleasantly surprised that the dessert was complimentary due to the fact that we could not get the items that we originally wanted. The service was excellent…we would return to Haven in the near future."

  • "I have been a resident of edgewater for the last 4 years and Haven is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants. You can't beat the view and the food is amazing!! So many great things to try. For Brunch the french toast is a must. Also want to say the Cesar the Manager gave me and my friends the best service we have had in a very long time. Because of his great service, I can't wait to go back next weekend!!"

  • "The garnishes used in every course overpowered the dish. Ravioli appetizer was dry but floated in tasteless sauce. Salads were dripping in dressing. Steak was raw but dripping in butter. Even the desserts were poor: lemon tart tasted like mediocre pudding, salted caramel ice cream was all salt, apple tart had no apples. The Haven was also extremely noisy. We will never return."

  • "I did not enjoy it. Our service guy was very friendly but the guy who served the bread, drinks and sets the table was very rude. When I first came in the restaurant I wanted to sit at the outside table. Eventhough I requested to sit down outside table a day before when I made the reservation, when I get there they said I had to wait 45 minutes and I observed there was no waiting list and there was an available table. The hostess whom we asked to sit outsidd table was very rude. I ordered stake which supposed to be spicy instead served sweet and not tender. The desert was disaster. The prices you pay in return crazy expensive. Out of 10 scoring my score is 2. I would not go to this restaurant again and would not recommend to nobody."

  • "I had booked through open table and ate at this restaurent for the first time. I requested a table outside for my boyfriends birthday for the view and when I arrived I was told it was first come first serve and I don't think that's fair for that. The food was ok, dessert was de-lish. I came from Brooklyn to try it out but I don't think it was so special. I am a chef and I didn't recieve the attention the customers Are suppose to recieve when they request a special occasion dinner."

  • "Have had Sun brunch 5 times and great so wanted to try dinner. Great location, great view, food is very good. Prices a litttle on higher end, $27 for chicken dish, and was still hungry. Will definitely come back, though maybe for their prix fix or just have a different entree."

  • "We celebrated my birthday and we were looking to dine outside. We found the perfect place. the food was delicious and presented well. The wait staff and wine steward were wonderful. Our party was pleased with their dinner selections. The desserts were all delicious. Will defnitly go back."

  • "Lovely atmosphere, with a nice variety of food. Everything was well prepared."

  • "Very enjoyable experience even with severe thunderstorms resulting in a loss of power in the middle of the meal. Hamburgers, meat and seafood entrees were excellent; octopus appetizer was ambitious but bland. Prices are high so the restaurant needs to hit every dish on the mark. Very good service but sometimes a struggle to keep up. Will definitely go back."

  • "It was a little hectic regarding the host and seating availability, but once seated, experience was great - nice view, perfect sunny day, good food - mediocre service only because of the time it took because of hecticness"

  • "Great view Good food and friendly staff Brunch was beautiful outside by the water We had 8 bellinis...ver good Want to try dinner inside at night"

  • "We ordered the hangar steak and the duck. Both were VERY well prepared. The "yellowfin" ceviche appeared to be ahi in a very spicy marinade. Not quite as good. The wine selection is quite nice and fairly reasonably priced. But, really, the Haven has a view that is quite special, along with convenient self-parking."

  • "This time we tried the new happy hour at the bar. It may not have caught on yet and, for the sake of the restaurant, I hope it does; but I kind of liked it not being overly crowded. The happy hour choices are great: good beers, wines, and cocktails, great bar food choices. And you can order from the regular menu too. We went off the happy hour menu to share one of our favorites: the heirloom tomato salad. Fabulous. Next on our list is lunch (especially now that we can sit outdoors) and sunset special dinner (also outdoors)"

  • "The backyard patio is lovely but be prepared for the wind. I live in the area so I was prepared. When you are sitting near the water it's very windy so if you are having hot food, it can get cold fast. The service was slow and the food was overpriced. "

  • "Excellent all around.only criticism. Is they were out of a lot of items on menu and valet parking charge is high "

  • "A nice find on the waterfront in Edgewater. The view of the Manhattan skyline is fantastic, and the food is very good. The pretzel encrusted calamari is cooked perfectly with tender pieces of squid. Service was also spot on. Definitely worth going to. "

  • "The view was nice. Service was good. But where was the lobster in the Seafood Risotto? I had one small chunk hidden in the delicious black rice; there were 3 medium shrimp and the two halves of a sliced scallop served on top. Tasty but not overflowing with seafood. Will we return? I don't think so, with the many other dining choices available in Bergen County."

  • " This spot has it all. Décor- neat, modern. The staff is attentive and accommodating. There was an interesting selection for brunch that had my party dying to try everything. Everyone was smiling in this restaurant - staff and patrons alike. We all enjoyed the food."

  • "Small portions, one slice of bread (no bread basket), and high price-to-portion ratio when compared to Waterside and River Palm (which has the same high end cars outside, including mine!). However, good for drinks on their terrace with NYC view. "

  • "Wife and I wanted a convenient but upscale experience after taking the ferry from a play. Could not be more complementary. Food was great they made accommadations and the service was outstanding. Only wish the weather was warmer the outdoor seating looked like an "experience" I will be back"

  • "Everything at Haven is perfect - the ambience, the service, the food and the view. The portions were nicely sized and all of our entrees were fresh and delicious. We were meeting friends we hadn't seen in awhile and they did not rush us. The whole experience for foodies was so worth it. The only drawback is the traffic on a Saturday night in Edgewater so do allow yourself extra traveling time. Please do not miss this restaurant. You will not be disappointed!!!"

  • "Modern decor with great view of NYC skyline. Food was great, but drinks were a little weak. Not cheap, but priced fairly for the Edgewater area. The only downside I could think of is that the sidewalk built next to the water is very limited. Not a lot of space to walk along the water after dinner, but plenty of benches to sit on. Overall great place with a nice view. Definitely check it out. "

  • "Consistent with my previous review, we had a great time here again. The restaurant is beautiful and nicely designed, service is great and the view of Manhattan- outstanding! On top of that, the food is great! We had the Tuna Tartare and the Scallops for starters and Filet Mignon and Short Ribs for main course. The salted ice cream for dessert is a must! "

  • "I found this spot using the Open Table app in looking for a place near my office in Teaneck for family visiting from out of town. What a find. The ambience was perfect. We had a beautiful view of NYC (not that crowded at 7:00 on a Friday so we got a window table). And every dish we ordered (including heirloom tomato & onion appetizer, seafood risotto) was out of this world. And the noise level was so quiet that it was easy to enjoy the conversation. "

  • "My first visit to Haven will definitely not be my last. I went with a friend for brunch on a beautiful day. The views are amazing and the food was delicious! We enjoyed options from the pre fixe menu which includes two beverages (Bloody Mary was awesome). The staff is very attentive and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "This is my fourth time to Haven and by far the best. The staff is very professional and friendly . Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and flavorful. Steak tartare , beet salad , steak frites - delicious. The wine list is decent and not drastically overpriced . They have a creative drink menu though many were way too sweet , so I sent it back for adjustment . I think when you put the views , food, staff and location together it adds up to an excellent experience . They have definitely worked out the "new place " kinks and are now running as well at their sister restaurant 340 grill. What's also nice it's a 30 to 50 crowd not a kid spot . "

  • "was surprised a place called Haven occupied so much square footage, and the décor was fresh & interesting. outdoor dining area looks fantastic; will try it once it warms up. The scallop appetizer was delicious--perfectly tender and great flavors. The short ribs were full of flavor--make sure you try this dish. My friends' steak frites looked a little ordinary, although they said the steaks were tender. They didn't chase us out, even though they needed to turn the table, and for that we are very appreciative! We would have left a bit sooner if our server had come by earlier with the check. Service could be a bit more "on it.""

  • "Was so disappointed in this restaurant. Really wanted to love it The restaurant itself is nice and great view of the city, but that's it. The service was fair ( should have been exceptional service since it was a tues night and only 2 other tables in there). They give you one small slice of bread each. The scallops for app were on the verge of raw and octopus was not enjoyable either. My husband had the seafood risotto which was small portion and more like soggy bland rice. I had the chicken dish which was average. Nothing special at all. Apple pie for dessert was same thing. Nothing great. Won't go back. If we are going to be in Edgewater/ Weehawken we will stick with Ruth Chris or Chart House. "

  • "Definitely enjoyed the view of the Hudson and New York City Skyline. However, the price for a Mother's Day Brunch was a tad bit much -- spent $200 + tip for four guests."
