The empanadas, the tamales, and most of all, the tres leches cake, were exceptional as was the service. It's a busy place with constant background music, but you can still have a conversation without raising your voice. We used to go to Victor's but found the food at Havana Central more consistent. The pork is always wonderful and the prices are reasonable. I was very hesitant at first before making a reservation, but the Cuban food combined with live Salsa music made this place an execellent choice. This is a place you definitely have to experience. So close to Time Square, it made it so convenient to get it after our show. We were greeted/seated immediately. Our server was super attentive and accommodating to say the least. Everything sounded so good on the menu which made it difficult to decide and when we got our food we were not disappointed. Everything was flavorful, nice sized portions just perfect. I know home-made Cuban food and this is legit tasting Cuban food! Apart from the food, drinks were on pint from the bar as well. This last time was part of my husband's birthday gift to me that day; flowers at work, Braodway show (Motown) and dinner at Havana Central Times Square afterwards. The waitress and rest of the staff were attentive. The food was terrific. The only negative was being sat next to a work station next to three other people while the rest of the restaurant was pretty emptyy at 11pm. We told the hostess that friends might be joining us. Still; she sat us in a cramped space. It's a good thing that our friends never made it.
My husband wanted to complain but refrained from doing. Next time, we leave. Too bad for you; too bad for us. It was served with a cilantro rice, which is not standard, in my opinion, with this dish. When I mentioned this to the manager, she promptly asked me if I preferred white rice & that she would bring it right out to me. The black beans were also very good. The flan was excellent.
