Havana Central Times SquareExcellent dining that rises aboveThis is an excellent place if a person is in the Times Square area, but wishes to avoid the tourist traps. Please try the Sangria made at your table: it was spectacular!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMexcitingOur dining experience revolved around the excellent attention we received from "amy"
She was attentive & was right there to serve us whatever and whenever we needed.
The rest of the staff was extremely helpful in bringing out our apps and main course.
I'm speaking for everyone at our table when I say we would come back in a heart beat and strongly
Recommend havana central to anyone looking for wonderful cuban food and ambience to boot. Dont forget about the music that starts at 96/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGet the Havana Corn on the CobMet some friends here for a bite to eat. We started with the Havana Corn on the Cob, which we highly recommend and a pitcher of sangria. The sangria was way too sweet for our liking and the pitcher was only about half full. Our meals were good, the atmosphere was nice with the live music but not good for conversation. All in all a good restaurant for the Times Square tourist area.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the atmosphere. JustLoved the atmosphere. Just what we imagined dining in Cuba would be like. Our server was very informative and attentive. Food was delicious and the happy hour drink selection was great and such a deal! Plantains appetizer was delicious and large enough to share with our whole party. Definately will be returning to Havana Central.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to meetThe food and service was excellent. Will need to call ahead if you need a quiet spot. Loved the entertainment and the restaurants proximity to TimeSquare.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is awesome, and theThe food is awesome, and the restaurant is very accomodating. We were seated upstairs, and wanted to go downstairs to feel apart of the energy... They moved us with no problem. That is not the norm for a notable NYC restaurant on a Saturday night.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappoints!I love eating here. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly and courteous. Live salsa music adds a sense of culture and home to me.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday LunchWe all work nearby and the ladies decided to take me out to lunch for my birthday. The food was good and they put candles on the piece of cake they brought to the table. I think the tres leches cake may have been the best part of the meal other than the fundido with chorizo which was awesome. I hear they do $1 empandas for happy hour, so I imagine we will all be back!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Havana CentralI have been here several times and love it. I am already planning my next outing with friends. I ordered the Mango Glazed Salmon and loved every bite. Great for large groups.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst timerThe food was outstanding - I had mango salmon salad, with the fish perfectly cooked. The rest of my party was please with their meals. The drinks were great, and service by Edwin and the others was very attentive and professional. Overall, a very nice experience for a first timer at Havana Central!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA little noisy. But greatA little noisy. But great bar scene and terrific drinks. I had a fabulous pineapple mohito Dinner was delicious6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVibrant AtmosphereThe decor of the restaurant makes you feel as though you are in the Caribbean without having to take a plane. The waiters are very pleasant. I would recommend this restaurant for group dining and special celebrations such as birthdays, graduation, retirements, and anniversaries.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food! You'll like it!Reasonable prices and very good food. Loud but manageable (depending on how loud the group next to you is :))5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was windwrfdl! SangriaFood was windwrfdl! Sangria was the best ever had!!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI worked in the city for yearsI worked in the city for years and often passed by this place. The food was great and the service was good. Truly a great hotspot for food and great Latin music. FIRST TIME DATERS, stay away; you will never hear each other :) . Only complaint, our entrees came out soon after the appetizers were delivered and this caused my group of 4 to cram all our food on the tiny tables. If this is the only problem, there were no problems. Glad I finally got a chance to go in.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMENJOYABLEMy friends and I had a nice time after the Wednesday matinee. One felt that the pirnil could have been spicier, but I thought it was delicious.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI just cant get enoughI can truly say this is my favorite restaurant. I love their food. Everything I tasted was on point. The server was extremely nice and pleasant. The drinks were amazing! I been to this place on a date, with friends and with family. Everytime I can honestly say I had great food and great service. I recommend this place to everyone I know5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEXCELLENT SERVICE!I went to Havana Central Times Square with family for the first time and had an outstanding time. The food service and show was great. I will definitely be reccomending this place and returning with other friends in the immediate future.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! What a fabulous time! We had reservations , they took us on time! Food was great, service great, atmosphere great! Echo lent drinks from the bar! Nothing bad to say!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMgood restaurantGood food with large portions. Every thing was excellent appropriate for its price point.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMojitos: you wanna slap someone. As always Havana Central outdoes itself. The food just hot enough and of course nice hefty portions and amazing mojitos. I was hoping Crystal would be our server. But Kiele, Melissa & Armando were a welcome next choice. They're warm and always gracious. Perfect table by the rail upstairs and my Los Angeles friends were very impressed with the food. Of course the mojitos were the stars that night and every night at Havana Central. Keep it up we will keep coming back.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLively placeVery energetic and lively place with a nice variety of cuban and latin dishes with great seasonings, although sometimes can be a bit salty. Wait staff is very attentive and friendly.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food! The food is delicious. We had the chicken and beef mofongoes, and empanadas for appetizers, and they all were great. I had the "Mom's recipe" slow roasted pork and loved the flavor of the meat. Tostones and rice were good, though the black beans were a little bland. We arrived for dinner early which I think is best for dinner conversation, as the bar scene can be quite exuberant, and backs right up to the tables. Loved the colorful decor and its proximity to the theaters. Staff was friendly and helpful.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTacos a la cubanatry the tacos in guava sauce, you wouldn't think you can get such nice tacos in a Cuban restaurant, the guava touch makes it different and sophisticated ... add a mojito and you have a winning combination in every respect. The mojitos are superb!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTimes Square Surprise!I live a few blocks away but usually avoid Times Square restaurants for the commercial factor. After a long day of playing tour guide to some friends in town, we didn't want to stray far from home but were all craving Cuban food so I figured it was time to finally try Havana Central. Immediately upon walking in, we felt transported out of NYC and onto vacation! Our waitress was fabulously friendly with great recommendations. All 4 of us ordered the vaca frita which had a great flavor but needed some citrus (a big bowl of limes were brough over quickly upon request though) and we split a few sides of sweet plantains. Make sure to order a pitcher of the sangria prepared tableside...days later and we're still talking about how good it was!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed my dinner very much.Enjoyed my dinner very much. Had fried plantains with avocado as an appetizer. My husband had the skirt steak and I had the ribs. Both were served with rice and beans and both had a lot of flavor. For dessert we had the flan which was delicious. Our waiter was very attentive, and the live band was an added plus. Went there for my birthday, and had a coupon for a free entree and dessert for my birthday ($30 value). Would recommend eating here.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat timehad a great time, food great, server great, gm great, music great. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time aroundThis was our second time at the NYC restaurant before going to a Broadway show and it didn't disappoint.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot, nice island like decor.Food was very good and the service was spot on. Will definitely be back for more.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery Dish is Delish! No matter what dish you order, you can't go wrong -- everything is SO delicious!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place is really nice ,andThe place is really nice ,and the food is decent , I really liked the appetizers . we had empanda and stuff avocado with lobster .as for the entrees I had ropa vieja with yellow rice . I feel that the yellow rice was bland, but ok.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA regular Times Square favoriteThis is a great place to go before a show. Grab a Mojito at the bar, some tapas or one of their flavorful entrees and you're ready to go back out into the Times Square craze or off to a Broadway show. Always a reliable restaurant with friendly staff.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant had very goodThe restaurant had very good food with a nice ambiance!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy in havana! My wife and I wanted something different for lunch on our way to a Broadway play and we were not disappointed. The empanadas, the tamales, and most of all, the tres leches cake, were exceptional as was the service. It's a busy place with constant background music, but you can still have a conversation without raising your voice. Great for lunch, but probably not for dinner.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific Cuban foodThis is a fun loud place, great for large parties or an early dinner before a show. We used to go to Victor's but found the food at Havana Central more consistent. The pork is always wonderful and the prices are reasonable. The only draw back is that the last time we went our entrees arrived less than 5 minutes after we ordered it and not much after our appetizer was served, so hold off ordering the entrée if you are not in a hurry.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic Cuban cuisine!!I went with my family for Mother's Day, we really enjoy the food and have a great time!! Attentive service and delicious food we will recommend to our friends!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic! The food was incredibly good, the service was really attentive and the whole ambiance of the place made me feel like Hemingway was going to be sitting at the bar. The mofongo with ropa viejo was more than enough for 2 people. The guava ribs were outstanding and the maduros were perfect. I would visit this restaurant again in a heartbeat.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodI highly recommend Havana Central! Great food, service, and ambiance!!!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFave placeThis is my favorite place over many years. The food is consistent, I have introduced many people to it, who then return on their own. Great music and salsa dancing Thurs- Sun evenings!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMQue bueno!Best food in NY, best service in the world (thank you, Armando)..5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere & cuban cuisineReally enjoyed our night out here.
There was live music playing while we were there and there was a good, lively atmosphere.
The food itself was authentic Cuban cuisine & there was ALOT of it!
I was stuffed by the end of it.
The sangria was good also!
The staff were friendly and the service was good.
It's also situated in a good location a 2 minute walk from Times Square.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Cuban foodThe food is outstanding. Service is attentive. And then there is the music. Just a great find!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHavana Central Times SquareHavana Central Times Square was a recent find that I was pleasantly surprised with. It has a lively atmosphere with a good selection of Cuban appetizers, lunch and dinner items. I enjoyed my meal and will return there.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood With FlavorThe place has very good service and decent food. One appetizer came out barely heated. Rice and beans should also have been served hot. They were lukewarm. Our waiter graciously replaced the cold appetizer and was very concerned about his guests. All in all, a great dinner before taking in a show.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodAlthough my friend and I did not have a meal, we had 2 appetizers and a salad and they were excellent. If you go, you have to try the empanadas and the taquitos - they both melt in your mouth5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMjeffrey was our waiter. hejeffrey was our waiter. he was great! (I hope the restaurant manager reads this). He was attentive and funny. I drank my first glass of White Sangria so quickly, that he said "Oh. I must have forgotten to serve you!" as he walked by, stopping to fill it again. How nice to have a waiter with a sense of humor-and i have been there at least 8 times!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCuban Food and SalsaMy girlfriend and I, went to the restaurant on Saturday May, 4th. The avocado with lobster salad appetizer was delicious. The braised pork with yucca mash was amazing. I was very hesitant at first before making a reservation, but the Cuban food combined with live Salsa music made this place an execellent choice. This is a place you definitely have to experience. FYI the Copacabana is one avenue away, just in case you feel the need to dance.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOleHad dinner there with a group of six. Place was mobbed. Very ethic clientele assumed the place is likely authentic with good food. Decor is nice. Service was spotty at best, maybe too many tables. Empanadas, both chicken and beef great. Plantains and sweet bananas, awesome. Pernil Asado absolute heaven. Moist well seasoned very tasty. Rice and black beans also fantastic. Two had the Pineapple Chicken Pollo con Piña, both enjoyed the dish very much. I had Seafood Paella, all I can say traditional Paella is NOT tomato based or certainly tomato is not the prevalent ingredient. Not good at all. The shrimp mofongo was also not very good too soupy. All in all, very good place and food. Will be back, better informed at what to order and expect.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI appreciate that my reservationI appreciate that my reservation is always ready upon my arrival. I eat here 2X a year and my meal this weekend was the best ever. Staff are awesome as well!!!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasantly SurprisedAfter reading some of the reviews here I was hesitant on even making a reservation but we decided to give it a try...SO GLAD WE DID! So close to Time Square, it made it so convenient to get it after our show. We were greeted/seated immediately. Our server was super attentive and accommodating to say the least. Everything sounded so good on the menu which made it difficult to decide and when we got our food we were not disappointed. Everything was flavorful, nice sized portions just perfect. I know home-made Cuban food and this is legit tasting Cuban food! Apart from the food, drinks were on pint from the bar as well. All in all, glad I went with my gut and not just by the mixed bag of reviews. I will definitely be back!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
