Diner Reviews
  • "Food was very good, however rather expensive. The bill for 2 people was over &75.00 and we did not order some of the more expensive items on the menu."

  • "Have been here several times before and visited their location in the theatre district we have never been disappointed Great waitress and appreciated attentiveness to make sure everything is fine ..... Great Mojitos It was right before the evening rush The Chef even came out of the kitchen to ask how we liked the food and asked if this was our first time dining there and spent a few minutes with us and proceeded to other tables"

  • "If you want a restaurant with Cuban/Spanish flavor this is it. The service is welcoming and convivial and the food is consistently good with ample portions. The music is fun but gets too loud for the space, and you end up straining your voice to have a conversation."

  • "Was there with a small group. The skirt steak was not marinated (like eating steak at a non-hispanic restaurant). The ropa vieja was bland. But the appetizers were good. Would return for a mojita and appetizers."

  • "I went to Havana Central with 2 girls on a Thursday night around 5:45-6. There was no need for a reservation because many tables were available. We ordered the happy hour Sangria. I was impressed and happy to hear that we were able to take advantage of the happy hour at our table (as most restaurants only allow it at the bar area). The plantain and avocado salsa (just guacamole) was an excellent appetizer and we devoured the whole thing. Our meals were delicious and the a service was good. Very attentive staff all around, not just our waiter. I would go back."

  • "Went here specifically for the mofongo which we had eaten and loved when we were in Puerto Rico. Three of us had this and it was really delicious. One had the pork shank and said was delicious . Also split empanada appetizer which was good too. Had a live band playing which was a nice touch. Will definitely go back again."

  • "My family and I loved this place so much we dined there 2 weeks in a row! Just fantastic food, from the appetizers, to the main entree, to the desert! I highly recommend. Ask for Carlos, he provided very attentive service... Do not leave without trying there Ultimate Mojito, the plantain baskets, and of course can't leave out that yummy Tres Leche....."

  • "Havana Central Garden City is gem, right smack outside a shopping mall. The decor is authentic Cuban, very relaxed yet romantic, spacious, yet welcoming. The food is truly authentic, spices just right, and presentation excellent. The quality of the ingredients is top-notch, and everything we ate, from the empanada appetizers to the Shredded Pork with Pickled Onions, to the Chicken and Shrimp in a garlic sauce was DELICIOUS!! Our server was professional, polite, and knowledgeable. Carlton was friendly and attentive. The runners were efficient, professional, and very polite. Go!!!!!!!"

  • "The food is always good and the ambiance always pleasant. I have visited this restaurant several times and never had I had an issue with service. Unfortunately our server for this evening wasn't very pleasant or informative. 2 people from my party were asking questions about the dishes and her response was "it's on the menu in English". I am from the Latin culture and am familiar with the dishes but some of my friends were not. It set a negative vibe for the rest of the evening!"

  • "I had made a reservation for 3 - When I got there they told me when all of your party is there to let them know. I waited at bar. The rest of my party came in and were seated. They said my name and no one at the front told them I was already there. Need a better system."

  • "Havana Central a fav in NYC and now Long Island. Not gourmet dinning but great regional cuisine. Service is attentive and the brand keeps up the flavor of its eatery with service staff who are mutli-cultural. Menu offers a blend of offerings that certainly whet the pallet!"

  • "The minute we walked in it felt like being in Cuba or South Beach. The decor and the music set the fun mood right away. For a Tuesday the bar was packed - they must have a special Happy Hour! Food-wise I do not recommend the shrimp as it was super market quality at best. The chicken is excellent. I would go back again to try another dish before really recommending this place."

  • "This place is amazing. Rice and beans is added with every order and it is so flavorful. The drinks, like the pina colada i got, was sweet and great. The pineapple chicken is so savory and amazing. I love the food from this place. It can get really busy though. So make sure to be there early or make reservations. But overall, this place is outstanding"

  • "We love this place. It's attractive and the food is great. But it also features live music and our table was next to the band, making conversation impossible. Keep that in mind!"

  • "My group and I had a wonderful dining experience. Our waiter Zane was amazing and very helpful. My only dussapointmeny was seeing some if the changes on the menu including taking Piñon off all together. It is a traditional dish which brought the delicious co.bination if chop meat and maduros together.we did really enjoy everything we ordered and the food had a great home style taste. Its as if my grandmother herself was the chef!"

  • "Finally, a Latin restaurant in long island that has awesome food, easy to find, reasonable prices, friendly staff, live music, and beautiful decor that all combined made you feel like you were in the Caribbean! Reservations easily made online (for after 9pm) but note live music at the front entrance wasn't there til about 10ish but prior to that there's constant music playing through out the restaurant and the (very clean) bathroom! Best Piña Colada aside of San Juan, P.R. But the new favorite of our night was the mojito with the sugar cane in it! A must try! Make sure to sit facing the front! Definitely coming back soon, and eager to try the Manhattan locations as well!"

  • "Loved this place. I would definitely be going back very soon. The food was amazing and our waitress was the best! They also had a live band. You have to go! Don't think about it, just do it!"

  • "Havana Central was a great experience. Live music was great and give the place a great mood and ambiance. Food was outstanding and quickly served.Great for Durham occasions or just a regular dinner"

  • "We found Havana Central years ago with a groupon for the 46 St. NYC location and have been enjoying their food (and the fun restaurant) ever since. This visit to the Long Island location was more fun than in the past due to live music (although a bit too loud). The food was always as good but it felt a bit sterile compared to the Times Square location - this visit felt more like the city with the music. I have to check how often they offer the live music here. They also now offer Dos Equis on tap in Long Island, one of our favorite beers! So I would say my last meal at the Roosevelt Field location was a more fun experience than in the past."

  • "The menu offered many options and our server was quite attentive and pleasant. The empanadas are an excellent choice for an appetizer. We had two specials: my son enjoyed his ribeye and I enjoyed the plantain encrusted cod. No room for dessert, but will try for one next time we come with the rest of the family!"

  • "Food was really terrific. However, live DJ 4p-8p was way too loud for adjoining dining room. Bar patrons very loud talking and screaming over music, dining patrons also talking loud over music. I could not hear people at my own table."

  • "I was introduce to Cafe Havanna by a friend. We been to the one is manhattan twice which was a bit noisy, dark and small. I love Cafe Havanna in Roosevelt Field. It's nice and spacious and vibrate. I even brought my girlfriend and she enjoy it to!"

  • "The food here was awesome, great spanish dishes and you could really feel the spanish love in the air. Service was good, the waiters are really attentive to you and if you need some space to enjoy someones company they give you that. Reasonably priced with a good amount of food."

  • "Lovely environment! The waiter we had was very tentative to our needs and the food was amazing. We ordered a pitcher of the Passion Fruit Mojito. It was beyond delicious. A bit pricey for a pitcher of mojitos though. Other than that, I definitely recommend this place to anyone!"

  • "We love this place. The food is amazing. You feel like you're on vacation when in the restaurant. I always get the Vatca Frita- deep fired shredded beef with cliantro rice, beans and an egg! Delicious! My wife loves the shredded pork. Only negatives: Sangria is expensive for what you get and appetizers are small. You will leave stuffed, however."

  • "I took my wife and a few friends there and the staff was amazing. I requested a table by the band and they had them play and sing happy birthday for my wife. We danced, had delicious food and generous cocktails. I've been there over a dozen times and will keep on going there"
