  • "Finally, a Cuban restaurant in Rochester. The staff here are great. Friendly, accommodating and positive about their restaurant. Nice roomy bar. The cocktail list is extensive with rum drinks. The sangria is very good. Food was good. At an earlier occasion had the brunch menu and loved the food. Enjoy the seats in the back where we could see the action and music. This time we were seated upstairs to the front of the building. It was too dark. Still a little new, but will definitely return."

  • "Excellent in both food and service. We were celebrating a special occasion and they certainly made it just that. If you have the opportunity to have David as a server you are in for a treat!"

  • "Went early and was very impressed. The whole staff that we had any contact with were all very attentive. Jobi our bartender was not only entertaining but full of information about drinks and food. Felt very much at home. Definitely going back!"

  • "We had a great time at Havana Cabana Saturday night. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the service was wonderful. Two Guitars that played were fantastic and well worth the trip. We will definitely be back on a Saturday night to hear them play."

  • "Great service from the start to the end of my visit! I enjoyed the drinks at the bar. I ordered the Paloma, it was by far the best drink that I've had in a while. For food we ordered the plantains & salsa, crab bisque, and pulled pork. A plus from me, all the items were delicious! I could tell my the presentation, taste, and quality that each dish was made with care! I will definitely be going back!"

  • "The staff was super friendly, the management was very accommodating of a larger group that changed their minds 5times on where to sit and how many were coming. The drinks were AMAZING. Getting fresh fruit drinks in a place that is bombed by the winter blast was a super nice mental vacation. The food was very good (we only had apps but we would come back just to try the full menu). Staff moved quickly and were very friendly."

  • "We tried all the various conch specialties and they were all delicious. Each Mojito comes with their own fresh fruit 'appetizer'. Everything was VERY fresh."

  • "I liked the the total relaxed atmosphere as well as the food, rather different for Rochester, meaning the Carribbean flavors. The conch fitters, as well as the Blue crab bisque were excellant as well as the tilapia dish. The presentation was very good, service quick and friendly, and especially liked the warm welcome and attention to detail especially regarding the whole dinning experience. Highly recommed and will be back to try other menu options."

  • "Overall I had a good experience except for one incident. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We started with drinks and the plantain chips. Very good dipping sauce. I ordered the Mahi Mahi which was prepared perfectly. Service was prompt if not a little too quick. The only negative was when the bill came I noticed that the Rum I ordered was billed at $10. It was $7 on the menu. When I questioned the waitress she said that I ordered it on the rocks and therefore was given an extra pour. I have never heard of this. I either order drinks neat or "on the rocks". If I wanted a double I would have stated it. Never the less they credited me back to the $7. I would definitely return as the food was worth coming back for."

  • "We are foodies and we were excited about this new restaurant. Unfortunately they use very low quality ingredients and their food preparation is definitely not deserving of the price they charge."

  • "We had an awesome experience and meal our first time here. The staff and owner were very friendly and the food was great. They had live music starting about 7 and made for a nice ambiance. Definitely recommend this restaurant, and it has a giant bar if you just want to hang out"

  • "my wife loved the tournedos and the drinks. The fish portion of the paella was very good but the white meat in the chicken was very dry. Service was great--you weren't hurried."

  • "I took my husband to Havana Cabana to celebrate his 40th birthday. The staff, especially David our waiter made us feel very welcome and special! When you walk in to see smiling staff and hear the sound of Caribbean/Cuban music you immediately feel transported to a happy, festive place far from the cold weather of Rochester. The food was imaginative and delicious. We highly recommend the place. It's a great place to celebrate a special occasion or go with a group of friends."

  • "We ventured out to Havana Cabana for a respite from our brutal Rochester winter. The bar was so dark we could barely read the menu, but we chose the Paloma and enjoyed them so much we each had 2. I the expected atmosphere & decor to be more Tropical. It had beautiful exposed brick walls but all the colors were muted and all the rooms were very dark. The food was ok, but the menu was limited and a little pricey. Service was great. Aldo took good care of us at dinner as did the bartender who was kind enough to serve us at the cozy bar booth. The Steel drum was a nice touch, but it was much too loud in the dining room for dinner. I would come back for cocktails and maybe try some of the apps, flat bread pizzas & the cuban sandwich."

  • "The staff was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and vibrant. The food was great. I was with a group of 10 people and all of us were raving about the food. The drinks were delicious as well. I'd never had a blackberry mojito so I decided to try it. It was so delicious that I'm not sure I can go back to drinking a traditional mojito now. The staff really pays attention to the little details. I highly recommend Havana Cabana!"

  • "I took my fiance here for his Bday and it was a great pick. They sat us promptly, our server was very knowledgeable about The menu and the drinks. The food was great and the live band was great without being overbearing and killing the ambiance."

  • "My husband and I came here after Geva. We had Dave for our server. Great guy, great service and knowledgeable!! We started off with the chicken drumettes. They were very juicy, cooked just right and had an awesome flavor. I had the stuffed chicken breast. Such a good combination of cheese and shaved pineapple for the filling. Rice and beans and sauteed greens on the side. Worth ordering. My husband had the pork entree, had a really tasty rum barbeque sauce on top and rice and beans on the side. Also worth ordering. The atmosphere is great and a fun place!!"

  • "We went expecting Mexican - and were happily surprised with Cuban which has it's unique, delicious take on the classics. My daughter and I shared delicious paella, and my husband a wonderful cuban sandwich. I've seen reviews which said it was expensive, but we got a lot of food for the price, so I'd have to disagree. The waiter was wonderful and steered us in the right direction whenever we asked. The inside is festive, with an open kitchen and a fire in the brick hearth - perfect for a cold Rochester night. We'll be back - you should go too!"

  • "Every aspect was to shelf! The *only* drawback to Havana Cabana is the price. HC is overpriced for the Rochester area. They have imported Miami prices to Rochester and they will do a lot more business if they reduce their prices about 20%."

  • "I don't know the server name, he was darker skinned, but he was awesome from the minute we sat down. He made us feel comfortable and not rushed. Next time my husband and I go we will be requesting him!"

  • "I was reluctant being from south Florida and used to authentic Cuban food but I was pleasantly surprised! Great food, great service! The mojitos were amazing! The paella was fantastic!"

  • "Friendly staff, amazing flavors and huge portions. The Cuban sandwich is big enough to easily 2-3 people. I could only eat half and I was stuffed."

  • "Ropa Vieja and Moros y Crisitanos [white rice & beans] are Cuban staples that come to mind and this place had neither. The food was bland and truly lacked flavor. Our table had tilapia, paella, steak, and mahi mahi. I did enjoy the crab stuffed avocado. The desert menu was nothing Caribbean nor Cuban like - I guess key lime pie is the closest thing to the island of Cuba. The wait staff was very slow at getting our drink order and bringing it to us. Once we got our meal, we didn't see the server in what seemed like hours - we needed drink refills - needless to say we went to another place to have drinks afterwards. Our meal did arrive in a timely manner. We had a baby in the party and hostess was not aware that the place had booster seats."

  • "Tried this restaurant for the first time. Looks small but additional seating upstairs. Food had a Caribbean theme. Large portions, could change side dishes. When our server didn't know that much about the different rums for the flights she quickly got someone more knowledgeable. We didn't stay but they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. We will go back and try some different dishes. Very friendly staff"

  • "We had heard about this great new restaurant and thought that we would give it a try. The seating area is split between 2 levels and we had a nice cozy table on the first floor in front of the fireplace. The service was outstanding and we were impressed with the extensive drink menu. I started with a mojito and my wife had the sangria but we saw another table with a flight of rum and we were jealous that we hadn’t given it a try. I had the tilapia and the vanilla butter sauce was incredible. My wife had the jerk pork and said it was delicious. Both portion sizes were very generous but still managed to leave room for desert. The key lime pie was the perfect ending to a terrific meal."

  • "The ambience is great! Love the decor, the music and the beautiful bar area. The appetizers I tried on a previous visit were quite flavorful. The salsa and plantain chips are amazing and the crab stuffed avocado was a real treat. Unfortunately the entrees (seafood salad and Cuban sandwich) were just average. our server was friendly and helpful. I would return to try more appetizers and a rum flight"

  • "This is going to quickly become the hot spot in Rochester. It has a feel like no other place in the area. The dinner I had was outstanding. I would describe the menu as Caribbean inspired more than Cuban. There are variety of price points from flat breads to seafood Paella. I started with conch fritters which were served with a flavorful aioli. For my entrée I went with the Paella. It was not an easy choice though with several other choices I will have to return and try. My friend got the Vac Fritta, a flank steak with red beans, peppers, onions and a rum sauce. Our meals were superb!"

  • "I was very excited to hear about this place opening up and couldn't wait to try it. Unfortunately it was a let down. The food is not very good. I'm a Hispanic woman who grew up around Cuban food and this place definitely does not have authentic food. My pork was tough and covered in cold BBQ sauce. The rice and beans were very bland. The drinks are just ok but the building is beautiful and there is a nice atmosphere. I just probably would not go back to eat again."

  • "Had a pretty good meal here over the weekend. Walked in and saw a nice bar area with a good selection. The dining section was multi-level and was mostly empty when we got there (we were dining quite early), but filled up nicely by the time we left. Service was fantastic, the interior had a nice vibe to it, and it was pretty easy to talk comfortably. The most important part is of course the food, which was pretty good. We had two appetizers (plantains and blue crab avocado) and two entrees (paella and arroz con pollo), which were both quite tasty. Would recommend to other people."

  • "Havana cabana was great! It has only been open for two weeks, and I have been there twice. Each time was a great experience. The food was divine, the service was extraordinary, and the mood was exemplary! Can't go wrong by eating there!"
