Diner Reviews
  • "The manhattan was amazing, and the duck confit, and gnocchi appetizers were the highlight"

  • "We have eaten at Haute Quarter Grill (HQG) since they first opened in Eagle River. The food continues to be excellent with great flavor, freshness, and nice presentation. The quality of their beef and fish specials is outstanding. The service is always impeccable with courteous, and efficient follow up on drinks, refills, and proper spacing of the appetizer, entrée and desert items without feeling rushed or neglected. Our open table reservation was perfectly on time and we were seated at "Table 6" their "Friends and Family" table. Lynn and Alex Perez have done an outstanding job bringing their awesome restaurant to Anchorage."

  • "Everything was amazing great menu selection. The Blackened prime rib special was out of this world as was their blue berry mojito. Now one of our favorites"

  • "There are SO many menu items left to try and they all look enticing! Alaska Grown produce, locally sourced seafood, excellent preparation - looking forward to returning."

  • "Wonderful evening with food and friends! First time to this restaurant and was very happy with the overall experience! Great portions, great selection! We had a great time. The staff was very courteous and professional. Would recommend to friends and family!"

  • "Gnocchi was the best I have ever had, by far. All staff, not just our server, kept our dishes clear and our drinks topped off. A real team effort with a smile every time. Tender filet mignon cooked to perfection."

  • "Great place for a fun amazing dinner. The tenderloin pops are amazing!"

  • "The food was excellent. We had seafood and steak, and all were fantastic. The pepper steak was tender and seasoned perfectly. Nick our server was perfectly attentive and on the ball."

  • "When the wait staff dumps sauce on both your pant legs and offer no comp? What is this? That's not how it's done in the south."

  • "Restaurant was very dark. Not many people there for lunch, even though it is downtown near where many tourists are. Food prices are fairly high."

  • "Upon recommendations from a gentlemen at a local bar, this place is great. Excellent selection of wine and beers. Four of us were dining here before heading out to a fish camp and had an awesome dinner. We had halibut and the prime rib, excellent sauces and twist to there food. Will definitely be back here. Come and get u some"

  • "The food selection was excellent and what we ordered was very good; however, after an hour and a half we had only received our appetizers and had to take our food to go as we had tickets to a play. We did not mention we had plans, so it is not the fault of the restaurant, but this is a place to have a long slow meal, not grab something before a show."

  • "This restaurant is on our best food list - the men had beautiful cuts of meat, done to perfection and melt in you mouth! I had the chicken pasta which was delicious also. Next time we plan on trying their desserts if we have room. Good wine list also. We had the Moscato, which was recommended to us by our waiter and was a perfect choice for our tastes!"

  • "We have been to dinner twice and both have been excellent. Last time three of us had the sockeye salmon special and it was fantastic. I don’t remember the sauce but it was great. Crab cakes were great. Service was excellent, with our table ready right on time. The atmosphere was a little noisy but everyone was having a good time so it was happy noise. You’re quickly becoming my favorite restaurant in Anchorage. I’m looking forward to next time. Cheers"

  • "I believe that was the name of the drink. It was fantastic if you like unusual, multilayered drinks. And the dipping sauce that comes with the most delicious bread was phenomenal - not your usual olive oil and vinegar but a garlicky savory red pepper situation that was crazy good. I highly recommend this place. OH! and the tiramisu? get outta here! So good."

  • "OKAY- i will amend this- I got an email from the owner on Facebook. So... If you have a bad experience they DO try to win you back over... which is great customer service. The owner Lynn is addressing my complaint and is trying to make amends. This would help compensate for the loss of my fancy leftovers. As a customer that is very appreciated. ------------- I was very disgruntled that our fancy dinner to-go box was pitched in the garbage- when it was obvious we forgot it on accident. BUT- they are doing something about it... so that means something to me. Less hot because my complaint is being handled."

  • "Checked out Haute for my hubby's bday. Whole evening was awesome! Drinks service and high quality food. And thank you for not singing though!"

  • "Eagle River's loss is Anchorage's gain. This was our group's first time eating at this restaurant and all of us came away thoroughly impressed with Haute Quarter. I was a little disappointed that they ran out of Duck Confit but the rest of our meals were simply amazing. I'll definitely be coming back."

  • "Felt like we were eating in the big cities, my spouse and I loved the food. I had the steak kabobs, amazing!! and he had the Jambalaya which he said is the best he has had in town! Will surely go back again!"

  • "Loved the booths, the ambiance and had a blast with our Server, Mike. He was friendly and funny. We were recognized by the owner who use to be in Eagle River. Now that we found the location, we'll be back often. The food is so very delicious. Had a great BIRTHDAY DINNER."

  • "First time eating here, now that they've moved into downtown Anchorage. Extensive beer & wine list, as well as a full bar. Kid menu is pretty good. Our kids (13 & 10) ordered ribs off the adult menu and they came with a ton of shoe-string french fries. The statement of the night was, "that's a pile of fries!" A bit pricy, but we're willing to pay more for a good local restaurant."

  • "We had exceptional service and wonderful food for an evening out with friends. The extensive appetizer menu started us off quite well with the calamari and sliders. The Maytag Blue Cheese salad was very good and served with plenty of blue cheese. Entree selections focused on meat with the Kabobs (great), pepper steak (great), and baby back ribs (great and huge mound of fries!!). Finished off with a great bottle of wine and very tasty desserts. We will return."

  • "We had a large party of 14, mostly out of town guest for my son and daughter-in-law's wedding. The restaurant was able to handle our large group! The food was excellent. The few members from our party who live in the Anchorage area had never visited the restaurant before. They were pleasantly surprised at this hidden gem in Anchorage! We will definitely dine at this restaurant when we visit family in Anchorage again! If you are ever in Anchorage - make sure you dine at this restaurant!"

  • "I enjoyed eating at this place once again. The food is always good and the service is great. Our waiter made us feel as if we were the only people in the place. We will for certain be back again."

  • "Great food on the pricey side. Quality across the board is similar to the previous Eagle River location. I'm sad to see a favorable eating option move away to Anchorage since there are already plenty of top-end restaurant options there and not enough in Eagle River."

  • "Haute Quarter is consistently good. I like the variety on their menu, they offer something for everyone. We took people that are just moving to Anchorage to give them a sample of the excellent food one can get in Anchorage, no one was disappointed. I appreciate being able to see in the kitchen and watching Alex get behind the line. Once again, a great meal and experience."

  • " Again celebrated adult family member's birthday...not disappointed! Ahi tuna starter...mouthwatering! Maytag Bleu Cheese Salad with pears, perfect .... entrees, Delicious roast duck, complimented by cherries and apricots, and creole prime rib (deviated from my usual seafood), beautifully presented and tastily prepared. Fast courteous service, excellent wine recommendations (yet not pushy, clearly there for us, as one family member's preference of bubbly honored without a blink.) Prime rib prepared perfectly medium rare, with complementary creole sauce. Luscious mashed potatoes. And dessert? Ooh lala! Generous perfect chocolate mousse! Bananas foster as well. In the years coming here since opened, have never been disappointed!"

  • "I've been wanting to go there ever since they moved to Anchorage. It was a special occasion, and it was a lovely experience. I had the seafood pasta which was superb. My boyfriend had the prime rib, and that was a bit disappointing. The presentation was beautiful, but he ordered it medium rare, and it was barely pink, and the broccolini was barely cooked and unedible. I'm sure we will come back because the service, wine list and ambience were great."

  • "Delightful new restaurant in Anchorage. The first thing that gets your attention is the bar area, seemed to be quite lively and was not sepearted by a wall from the dining area which was sort of nice. Had a Manhattan that arrived in a martini glass with no ice, not the traditonal way. Dinner began with a spinach salad that was good and massive. Main course was lamb that was ordred medium rare but came out medium but again, VERY large portions. That trend contiuned with cream caramel that could have fed two. So, if your hungry, you will get plenty!"

  • "The menu provides a variety of delicious dishes for the surf and turf diner. The steak we ordered was excellent and the broccolini it came with was cooked just right. We ordered salad to start with and it was very fresh! The atmosphere is cozy and provides an ambience to visit with friends without too much noise and distraction. The drinks were made just right, the variety and pour of the beers was perfect. I requested a booth when I booked the reservation on open table and they were very accommodating."

  • "It was our second time and we have recommended your place to our friends. Short and sweet the night was great. I thought one dish stood out as a bit of a sore thumb. The beef tenderloin kabobs or skewers were lackluster. Maybe an upgrade to a big metal skewer with big chunks. Perhaps something other than tenderloin too. All the other food we ate was delicious and we will be back. Happy Independence day."

  • "A nice dinner, but parking is a problem. Good ambiance inside, but tends to be noisy."

  • "My husband and went there for our weekly Friday lunch. Haven't been there before and wanted to try something new. I will not be going back. We both had the same thing. French dip and french onion soup. The meat on the sandwich was half cooked and was cold. The bread tasted odd and the soup tasted like someone poured a pound of sugar in it. The only thing that was good were the french fries. The meal was expensive and services was kinda slow. Definitely not going back."

  • "7:45 reservation. Greeted and seated immediately. They have an outside deck open for the summer, adjacent to their great bar. Their Happy Hour is ON every night, not discontinued for tourist season, as some other establishments here do."

  • "I have never been rushed out of a restaurant in my life! We were a group of six for a going away party and at the 1 hour 44 minute mark we were being advised to hurry along and we wouldn't have time for dessert. We were them offered dessert menus but when we declined dessert after all we were asked to go. Unbelievable. The food was good although too heavy for a summer time meal-more befitting for winter time. Ambience dark and noisy. I probably won't go back. Food, service, and parking is better elsewhere for the price."
