Very good food! My friend and I ate here for Restaurant Week recently and the 3 courses were delicious! I had the crab mac and cheese app, the tator tot hotdish entree and the 'pop tart' dessert and I loved all three! Can't wait to eat there again!

Food was great! Service was terrible. Waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there at work. Reservations at 7:30 and got seated at 8:00. We didn't leave until 10:00pm. Sat down at the same time as others. they left at 9:00pm after getting their desert by a different waitress. We didn't get our desert till 9:50. The food was great but great food and terrible service = never coming back.

  • The Steak & Eggs was incredible

The Steak & Eggs was incredible as it always is. I love having first-timers to Haute Dish try (and be surprised by) the Bloody Mary Oyster Shooter. We had the Summer Vegetable Enchilada and the General Tso's Sweetbreads. I loved the sweetbreads, with the most amazing flavor and perfect texture, and she adored the enchilada and took some home for the next day. For the third course we enjoyed the Steak & Potatoes (potatoes prepared Con Fit), neither of us were a huge fan of the marrow bone in the dish but I'm more than certain for those who've acquired that taste, it would be exquisite. We finished with the Passion Fruit Sorbet with fresh-fried donut and Mango Marshmallow, a completely perfect ending to such an amazing meal!

We visited on a Wednesday night and not too much of an after work bar crowd. The food was very good. We enjoyed the playful menu and we shared a first plat, middle plat and entree and were quite satisfied but this is not an over larger serving restaurant ... thankfully. Each course we had were accented by different sauces which were very good. Enjoyed the experience and the fresh ingredients and creative menu.

  • This visit was for brunch
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 6/22/2012
This visit was for brunch & was a little disappointed since I had a fabulous dinner here a week or two prior. I was expecting a deconstructed take on usual brunch items & that wasn't the case. It was okay but just not great. I had also heard the bloody marys were good here & I wasn't overwhelmed... ALTHOUGH I have discovered that I prefer a traditional, spicy bloody rather than the fancy, schmancy ones served at restaurants like this. They try to go for something a little different & personally, I don't like as much (as the traditional type). That side... I still love Haute Dish & will go back for dinner anytime!

Can't go wrong here, this place is fantastic. The picnic salad with pork belly was wonderful, as was the melt in your mouth tater tot Haute dish. My husband had the fried chicken, and it was beautifully served and delicious. And, I just discovered my new favorite cocktail here too - the Sazarac. We will be back. Soon. My only complain is that the French press coffee was a little too gritty for my taste. Wish they would serve capuccino.

We went at 6:30 on a Thursday and it was pretty empty. Ordered and got the soup quickly, but it took almost 45 minutes to get our food and half of it was cold. They remade the two plates in minutes which made us wonder what the hold up was. Food was just decent. Interesting and modern but didn't live up to the hype. I give it 6 months

This restaurant is nothing short of phenomenal. The food is out of this world and there is so much thought and art that goes into presentation. Very modern, cool atmosphere that is relaxed and modern while still maintaining the ambiance of fine dining. Tap selection is always awesome and the bartenders know what they're doing. Servers definitely know what they are doing and do a wonderful job of explaining the menu- there's always more than meets the eye here.

The stars here are the chef and the waitstaff. The food was fantastic, and very interesting - you won't see these dishes on any other menu in town. We had dishes with such simple-sounding names as "peas on toast" and "tater tot hotdish", and both were just great. I recommend getting 3 dishes plus dessert per couple and sharing so that each perrson gets to taste a variety of things. The waitstaff were attentive, laid-back, and knowledgeable. I think we had a total of 5-6 people wait on us at one point or another during the evening.

Dave is the best barteneder, that man knows how to make a fabulous Manhattan! Not much for words, which is the way I like it, but did I mention he is the best bartender around? And then there is Jess, she is THE quintessential, class act - as well as Dave the bartender, oh wait I already mentioned him! Jess gives you the deserved respect and concern as a new patron would expect. Have no one else take care of you! If Jess is busy, wait for her. Great experience, food super interesting, a truly new take on Midwestern food , Ambience- calming. check it out!

Food was great but the speed of our dinner was slow. We ordered the grilled quail appetizer (delish) and the oyster shooters (spicy). Then 15 minutes later our next orders items came. The Mac and Cheese was not what I expected. The pea spread on texas toast was the best!! 20 minutes after that our entree of the special fish arrived. The fish was fantastic but everything else on the plate was not needed or good. Overall I don't think I will go back

2nd time here, and it was just as delicious this time as last. A simple house salad had a beautifully flavored dressing, mac and cheese with crab is tender and not your usual, nor is the "tator tot hot dish" (at all!). The food was excellent. The server was ok. She didn't appear to know much about the beer list and referred to the Jolly Pumpkin beer as being a pumpkin beer when in fact that's the name of the brewery. Not a big deal since we are beer people and know better anyway but it kind of made her look bad. I also do not like it when servers tell us that it "works better for the kitchen if you order all courses all at once". That's not true in kitchens I've worked in. What it actually is, is speeding you along so the server can get your table sat again. Whatever the case may be, the kitchen did a fantastic job and the food was out of this world.

Came for brunch, left with full stomachs and mild headaches. The food was very good, especially the Chicken and Waffles (a Minnesotan-sized dish and a delicious way to make progress toward a heart attack and/or blocked colon) and the Ropa Vieja (more normal-sized dish and recommended for foodies). Comically bad brunch environment - dark as a cave despite brilliant sunlight outside, music playing at Spinal Tap's max volume of 11. Half empty restaurant despite getting City Pages' "best brunch" earlier in the month. HD needs to dial back on the "aint we HIP!!!" (uh, no, not really; deafening music and overweight guys in tight tee shirts). Just let the food do the talking.

Do you know how cool it is to stumble onto an establishment and have it LEAP into your Top Ten all-time favorite restaurants? Well, that is what happened to us this past Saturday evening at Haute Dish. Our server was outstanding. He took the time to answer all of our questions (which were far too numerous) and we never felt rushed. We started the evening with a first course entitled simply "steak & eggs" (pork belly, cauliflower, marinated steak tartare, egg). This was served with a bloody mary oyster shooter. Fantastic! Two in our party had their signature Tater Tot HauteDish, two had the seasonal Rabbit & Carrots. Seriously, the flavors and presentation of both dishes was completely out of this world. We can't wait to go back!
