Haute DishMinneapolis' Most CreativeHautedish is one of my favorite places to dine out at in Minneapolis. It has all that I look for in a restaurant--excellent flavors, non-fussy service, and a relaxed ambience. Don't let the menu fool you, everything looks terribly plain but the execution is anything but. The interpretation of traditional dishes is incredible, and the flavor combinations are very unique. I love the desserts on the menu as well--their take on s'mores is a wonderful chocolate mousse with homemade marshmallows and cinnamon crackers and a lovely gelato. My only complaint is that the noise level can be quite high--why is music played over the loudspeakers? The food was incredible and the service was fantastic. The food is comfort-food with a foodie twist and everything we ordered was flavorful and delicious. They have a good beer selection and we were able to try a few things we've never had before. Kind, informal and well-timed service. In fact, our server recommended a special tasting menu when we were disappointed to see that the printed one was meatless. Great wine recommendations for us both, and we enjoyed splitting the tasting menu plus another entree as suggested by our excellent server. House salad, mac and cheese, tater tot hot dish and lavender lemon panna cotta were all amazing. The food was fabulous, and I'm a foodie. The charcuterie appetizer was tasty, easy to share, came with crackers and bread for the "spreads". The waitress was very patient as we asked lots of questions about all the house special cocktails--and they were appropriately dry or fruity as desribed.
