  • "One of the best restaurant week experiences. The food was phenomenal. Nuff' Said!!!"

  • "visited again on sunday to try the restaurant week menu- lots of old favorites and an incredible value! added an extra course- who doesn't want MORE pork belly?! tartare, pork n' beans, picnic, pasta with tallegio and crab, short rib, chicken and biscuit- every dish was spot on. the kitchen struggled with timing off and on (notably later in the evening) but our server stayed on top of keeping us advised of the delays and ensured we had a great experience. no table touches from the manager to back the servers up was a bit odd, but we had a terrific meal. the evening reminded us that we need to get back more often...we almost missed the current cocktail list!"

  • "For starters we had the salad (well plated but unexciting) and the charcuterie (dry, bland pastrami, overseasoned liver, very good pate). Seconds were mac and cheese (with tiny scraps of crab) and pork n beans (inedibly sweet). Mains were haute dish (good but small portion) and the burger (they said it was medium rare, I got tartare on a bun - good, though.) Service was good and personable, though drink refills took a while. The space was nice, but for about half the meal the music was so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk. There are a lot of restaurants downtown with more consistent food and more reasonable prices."

  • "I went here with my boyfriend for our date night, we both didn't know what to expect. It was wonderful, I had the cold press drink, bf had the mule, both were delish. We started with the steak and eggs, and the char cuts. The tartar was light in combo with the egg and this amazing cornbread. The Foie gras in the char cuts was the best I have ever had. next was the pork and beans and the mac and cheese, both good, nothing overly shocking about them. Third we had the tater tot hautedish and the country burger! Holy cow! I personally dont eat ground beef, but my bf made me take a bite and I would order it, it was a damn good burger. My tater tot dish though beats his burger hands down. Idk how they make that tot but it was good!"

  • "This was the best choice we could have made for Restaurant Week. Both of us were blown away by how exquisite the food was. We'll be back!"

  • "It took us over 90 minutes to order and receive our food, which in turn made us late for the concert. The wait staff was extremely rude, asking one member of our 5 person group if he "needed help" with the wedge salad. ?! I will not be going back to this place, which is too bad. The food is kitchy, fun and yummy - but it's still not worthwhile. The place was not even that busy the night we were there. Unacceptable."

  • "We had a great meal - but not fantastic. Some dishes were rather cool by the time they reached the table."

  • "Haute Dish is always so much fun when it comes to food exploration and discovery... service? Okay... why we waited so long for dinner is beyond any of us... why no one cared to check on how things were? Its disappointing when you go for an experience with food and the wait person hinders it with their ambivalence... the Chicken is outstanding! :)"

  • "Went there with 3 friends, we got their mac and cheese, cool ranch gnocchi, tater tot hautedish, and kielbasa in a can. None were less than steller. Definitely a little on the spendy side, and the "Plates" (gnocchi / mac & cheese) were small portions. Waiter was friendly and helpful."

  • "This was the third time my wife and I ate here. First two times were great but this last time was not. It took the server almost 5 minutes to greet us. She hurried away from our table as soon as she thought we were done ordering even though it was not busy. We could see her chatting with a recently cut employee who was hanging out at the bar. Food was good but too heavy for summer with zero lighter options. Were not told about dishes they were out of (there were many) until we tried ordering. Not what you'd expect from a place where a couple can expect to pay over $200 to dine at. Won't be going back a fourth time."

  • "The food here is very good however the portions are small. The service was rather ordinary. Very limited menu options so it's not a place I would go out of my way to visit."

  • "My husband and I are foodies.... Slowly moving back in the foodie action again after having our first babe. So happy we decided to go to Haute Dish for our first BIG NIGHT out. The waitress was super honest about the menu, as we listened her and ended up ordering items that I didn't even think about.... I am glade I followed the advice. Even though the food was great, I was in the dinning room starring jealously at the bar. Next time, we will be sitting bar side sipping an some amazing drunk monks, and eating some sweetbread. Thanks!"

  • "Very interesting menu heavy on fat laden entrees... Few gluten free options. Been there twice and came away with the same impression: great for a burger and beer but the rest of the menu is less desirable and limited."

  • "We decided to take gamble and take some family from out of town here without ever trying the restaurant before. WHAT A GREAT CHOICE! Everyone loved their food especially the tator to casserole. We would come back to eat that once a week. The restaurant service was fantastic as well. We'll be going back for sure."

  • "On the date of this review, Haute Dish was doing a three-day-only BBQ joint make-over, with a whole new menu and minor changes to decor, music, and ambience. The three meats I tried were all quite good, but the sides were the stand-out. The coleslaw was simultaneously familiar and mind-blowingly unique, and the cucumber/watermelon salad had a fantastic spice blend reminiscent of the Middle East. Something about this night made it the loudest experience we've had there. Normally the place is quiet enough to allow casual conversation. Speaking more generally about the restaurant, they consistently present fun perspectives on traditional dishes, often to the point of complete redefinition, and very occasionally they will blow your mind."

  • "Went for the special week of Soulhut. The entire place was transformed to a BBQ joint with table clothes, food coming on metal trays and side dishes being served in paper boats. The food was outstanding and creative. Veal breast was tender with a great smoke flavor. Spoon bread and burnt end beans packed with flavor, not to mention they house made 3 BBQ sauces. My personal favorite was the mustard with the veal. Not to mention a great selection of beers to pair with the food! Awsome experience, yet again. The creative minds in the kitchen never cease to amaze me."

  • "Our group of three had the Tater Tot Haute dish, kielbasa in a can and chautirie plate. The tot entree could of been hotter but was delicious! The kielbasa was super they had a nice bite. The parsley cake with goat cheese was to die for!"

  • "What a brunch cluster. Kitchen was really off with timing. Our party of 6..4 meals came out and final 2 showed up when everyone else was done eating. I just don't get the draw of this place but this trip was really not acceptable."

  • "The food was very good, however the kitchen was very backed up and it took forever to get our food with no discount on the bill. They did provide us with a complimentary appetizer without prompting, and they were very apologetic. It was Father's Day and most tables were full, however I can't imagine this was busier than a Friday or Saturday night? Overall, enjoyed our brunch and the space was nice."

  • "We went here for my birthday. My main dish was very good, as usual...the General's Sweetbreads. Perhaps the portion is slightly smaller than the last time, about 18 months ago. I ordered my other favorite dish, the crab mac and cheese to take home. Imagine my surprise and extreme disappointment when I opened the box that evening, later, and discovered a huge amount of bright red fish eggs throughout this dish. That was not listed on the menu nor was it served that way in the past. I could not eat it. I was very disappointed and this really changes my view of this restaurant."

  • "Great food. Great service. Awesome appetizers and awesome beer selection."

  • "I am never disappointed with dining at Haute Dish. Be aware that Saturday evenings are busy! Servers are super busy and things can be a little loud in this unique restaurant setting. Don't let the Midwestern-sounding names of their entrees fool you into thinking you're sitting in a diner! "

  • "Great food, energetic, tuned for service. Too many restaurants have become too noisy and conversation is impossible. Haute Dish has an energy level without the noise. "

  • "We've dined at Haute Dish several times, and it is never a disappointment. Their menu is exciting, fresh and interesting with just a hint of the familiar. Their creative takes on traditional American comfort foods never cease to amaze me. We've enjoyed every dish we've ordered, which is high praise coming from two discerning foodies!"

  • "I was seated immediately and knew what I was after, the General Taso's Sweetbreads. I have to say that this preparation was really tasty. The sweetbreads came on top of foie gras fried rice and you want to talk about decadent. I mean this stuff was amazingly good but super rich. The sweetbreads even though they weren't fried they weren't tough, there is a fine line to walk there that can be crossed very easily. I also had a Minnesota Mule which was very good and served in a very nice copper cup. For my entree I went with the Haute Dish which was a huge short rib with some big tater tots. Extremely good and a very solid dish. If I am back in the area I would like to come back and try a few other things here. Definitely recommend."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Haute Dish. My food was great but the truffle oil after-taste was a bit much. Our service was great and besides my new distain for truffle oil the food was excellent. My wife's chick was really good. Not many people there for a Friday night - I found that to be surprising. "

  • "I respect an ambitious menu and I understood the tongue in cheek take on American classics, however I felt that this restaurant was pretentious about it. The menu named the dishes such as "Mac and cheese" or "pork and beans", but was stingy with the descriptions and didn't accurately what you will actually get. The attitude of the service dares you to inquire or complain. I did complain about the execution of my food burnt and salty, and was told that this was the intention, as though perhaps I just didn't get it. I am a very adventurous foodie and have eaten in exceptional high and low end places. I feel food should be about access and making the customer feel happy about the food experience. This restaurant does neither. "

  • "The creativity of the chef was on full display, but the best menu items remain the classics. A spring lamb dish tried a bit too hard, but the haute dish classic, the steak tartare appetizer, and several of the small dishes were excellent. Thanks to the welcoming attitude of the wait staff, this will become a regular haunt for us. great people and we'll stick with classic dishes YUM! "

  • "The new Monday HauteDate night was a hit. $60 6 course tasting menu for 2 in addition to 1/2 priced bottles of wine is a stellar deal. Great offering of the menu that included not only all time favorites (steak and eggs, sweetbreads) but also new spring menu items. Spring Peas on Toast was stellar. Rabbit x3 was amazing. Walleye Scallops was the only lackluster dish because we felt like it was better suited as a single entree and not a shared dish - you need the broth to go with the scallop to get the full flavor, and that is tough when sharing it. All in all, fantastic and would definitely come back to get this deal, or full priced dishes, again. Service was excellent - sincere service; great vibe."

  • "Having heard so much about Haute Dish, we had high expectations and weren't disappointed. Our server was friendly and knowledgable, and steered us toward the perfect meal. We started with some oyster shooters and a couple shared plates—the mac & cheese and pork 'n beans were phenomenal. My entree, the rabbit & carrots, couldn't have been better and it was great to see Landon, the chef/owner, actually working in the restaurant, visiting tables, etc. The beer and cocktail lists are impressive and again, our server directed us to some great drinks. The atmosphere is certainly social but not too loud and it was easy to have a conversation. We'll definitely be back."

  • "We ordered the tater tot hautedish and meatloaf in a can. The only food on our plates that was hot was my meatloaf. The remaining food had obviously been sitting out for quite some time before service. At these prices, we were disappointed. The only concession made by the wait staff was a belated and unenthusiastic offer of a free dessert."

  • "Quality of the food is good and the service is good (a little slow on drink orders, but nothing to complain about). One point that can be improved is the menu's description of the various dishes so you have a better understanding of what you are ordering. Also, the portion sizes are somewhat underwhelming for the prices. One point that does stick out for a recommendation is the manager who was very apologetic for not having our table ready right away when we had reservations. He proactively offered to buy us a round as we were waiting at the bar even though the wait was only 5 minutes. This is the kind of customer service that can really separate great service from just OK service. "

  • "Food here changes regularly but is consistently superb. The menu keeps their signature dishes but frequently changes others. Their current lamb prepared 3 ways is succulent and just melts in your mouth (chewing is optional). If you are like me and save the best part of the dish to eat last, you will have a big problem as all 3 ways are simply excellent. Service is friendly, attentive yet not obtrusive. unlike many restaurants you can have a conversation without straining your vocal cords, especially if you seated at the back room. Go early or linger at the bar after dinner as their drinks are also outstanding."

  • "Went on a Sat night so keep that in mind. The menu is unusual, and the food is very good. We waited about 1.5 hrs to get our main course after we got there. Also, there are minimal offerings for a vegetarian so beware if your group has one! The waitress was terrific, attentive. I think the long delay was in the kitchen as they were overwhelmed. "

  • "First timers, food was great...but: You need new chairs 1. They need to invest in new chairs...the ones we sat in have seen their day and were very uncomfortable. 2. Although it is stated on the menu, most of our party of six did not see that an automatic gratuity of 20% was added for party of six. I can see parties of 8 or 10 and above, but in my opinion...that is ridiculous. When the "men" paid the bill, I mentioned that there was an auto-tip, but it was too late...they had all tipped 20+ percent so our OK to good server got a 40 to 45% tip and never mentioned a word. "

  • "My husband loved his meal (tater tot dish). I had the meatloaf in a can. Gravy way too thick and no depth of flavor. Mac and cheese good but very little sauce on it. Thought for the price service was too casual. And over $150 for 3 people (no alcohol mind you) just seemed too high for what we got."
