Diner Reviews
  • "My family and I dined here in January and had a very favorable experience so we decided to return for a birthday dinner. It was our server's first day on the job and he knew very little. When we arrived, I mentioned our reservation and the guy at desk said they didn't have it. We got seated right away but our drinks took a long time in coming and they weren't even busy, maybe 5 tables taken. When drinks came, they were wrong. Then we got charged for the incorrect drinks on our bill! We inquired about bread for the table since we had it our last visit. Server said "we don't have bread anymore." What kind of place would have no bread? Portions were extremely sparse and overpriced. Coffee was bitter and awful tasting. Would never return."

  • "Overall the experience was good... If you are interested in eating all locally grown foods it's superb... A little noisier than we expected but not too overwhelming"

  • "Food was dry ( Coq au Vin) , cheese plate was straight from the fridge..."

  • "We were very disappointed with our experience at Harvest. The main issue was the very poor service we received. After being overly solicitous when we first arrived, the waitress was MIA. My husband wanted another beer to go with his meal and we had to ask the maitre d to go find her. He asked for bread and she brought 3 pieces of pita bread. When we asked if we could have more bread for the table she said we could order it from the menu. ( I understand that may be your policy but aren't you called Harvest). The main dishes were brought before we had a chance to finish our appetizers and then our coats were brought to us when we were still having our dessert. The food was ok, but nothing special. All in all, we will not be returning."

  • "New Spring seasonal menu was very tasty and the waiter brought us an additional short rib flatbread after hearing us rave about it (thanks!). Good selections for vegans too. Nice meal!"

  • "Had a really nice dinner at Harvest. I was impressed by the variety of the menu items. The hummus sampler appetizer was delicious, and my cedar plank salmon was also awesome. Love that the dishes are seasonal and reasonably healthy (mostly under 500 calories per dish). when I left, I felt satisfied but not stuffed--perfect! I had a wine flight, and it was so-so...I would have liked a bit more guidance on which wines would go together well, which came highly recommended, etc."

  • "Harvest Seasonal Grille is informal w/ high quality food (salads, flatbreads, entrees, and sandwiches) -- it's a great addition to west Philadelphia. The desert tray is great."

  • "This was my first visit to Harvest. Love the farm-to-table concept. The food was fabulous and our waitress was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. I definitely plan return visits."

  • "Although Harvest has been in the neighborhood for a while how, this was our first visit. As health-conscious vegetarians, we were thrilled that the fare is from local producers (all listed on the menu) and that the dishes are all under 500 calories unless noted. The service was excellent and the food fantastic! We will be back!"

  • "They were out of the beer I wanted and 2 different kinds of wine my friend wanted. The food on the buffet wasn't nearly as good as the food on the regular menu. I'll go back but not for the buffet."

  • "This was my first time dining at Harvest. I love the idea of farm to table menu inspiration. I drove over an hour just to check it out. The food and service were excellent. I was not dissapointed in any way. I will definitely be back. I can't wait to see the spring menu."

  • "The food was good, but nothing special. Our server was nice but the overall experience was kind of ruined by the fact that we were very rushed by the service. Our main dishes came out when we were in the middle of appetizers. The server also actually removed a plate from under my mouth as I was taking the last bite of a dish, which was pretty rude. I wouldn't go back and I don't recommend it. It's a shame because the concept is good and I wanted to like this place!"

  • "We had a variety of appetizers and two different entrees. Good wine list. Only tried the house Sauvingnon Blanc. It was fine. Appetizers were good. The accoutrements to the cheese plate were great. The cherry jam was my favorite. The mussels were okay. Tasted good but the mussels were very small. The winter salad had too much dressing. Overkill. I love hummus, but their Organic hummus platter was GROSS. Consistensy was unspreadable. The short rib entree was fine. The filet entree: the filet was cooked perfectly and tasted wonnderfully. The side vegetables and potato gratin with the filet had so much salt on it, it was almost like eating a teaspoon of salt by itself. Desserts were okay. I'm glad I tried Harvest, but I am unlikely to return."

  • "Had dinner with a friend after work. Had done careful research as I have food allergies. Not only did they provide plenty if options that met my needs (have separate menus for dairy free, gluten free, etc), but we also both found our meals to be outstanding. Fresh, locally sourced foods, thoughtfully prepared. Will definitely be back."

  • "Perfect food, perfect service...Only very minor issue was the blast of ice cold air due to the position of our table. A wonderful restaurant. Would go back there tonight if I could!"

  • "the restaurant concept has more promise than it delivers. Food was fine, but nothing special. Service was rather poor. I've been to 2 different Harvest locations and every time the servers are awkward and slow. The restaurant is trying hard to be something it is not."

  • "I went with my special someone for Valentine's Day; it was our first time at Harvest. The food was delectable, the atmosphere was romantic and cozy, though modern and the service was nice."

  • "I have been trying to get a reservation at the location near my house in Glen Mills forever! But we were going into Philly and I saw the University City location had availability so I booked it. The service was fabulous and so was the food! Highly recommend!"

  • "The food was excellent, but expensive. The portion size was small. I order scallops with a pumpkin squash risotto. I was given three scallops and a heap of risotto for $24. The small plates were amazing (cheese). Service was fair. We spent over $200 on the meal between 4 people and didn't receive water from the server. A customer should not have to ask for water if the bill is that $$."

  • "First off, our server was fantastic. She was friendly, went out of her way to get us info on nightlife, and gave good foods recommendations. We started with a bottle of house Pinot noir for only $25, and edamame 3 ways. There was a lot of edamame for $7 and it was tasty. Our entrees were average prices for fancy seafood. The dessert menu comes around as a plate of dessert shot glasses, so we chose a pumpkin tiramisu and a chocolate peanut butter mousse. They were only $3 each and were just enough to enjoy and not share. They were about 250 calories each. The only complaint was that we were cold, due to a drafty breeze."

  • "This was a terrific dining experience. The restaurant had a large and eclectic menu. Our party ordered bison meatloaf, beef tacos and salmon. Everything was delicious and prepared expertly. The presentation was very pleasing. I would definitely recommend and return."

  • "Most of the menu items at Harvest are under 500 calories and feature local, in-season produce and meats. It was refreshing to see appropriate portion sizes (not the usual restaurant overload or tiny fine dining portions) and a menu that was healthful and creative, but still flavorful and inviting for diners who just want a good burger. Lots of vegetarian options here, which I appreciated."

  • "We received a gift certificate for Harvest, but had planned on going there sometime soon anyway based on recommendations. The ambiance was modern yet cozy, with wall fireplaces and an open two story floor plan. There were many things to choose from on the menu, a nice beer and wine list, and the service was excellent. The food was moderately priced for smaller than normal portions, but the flavors were fairly complex and delicious. The scallops seemed a bit overdone, but the Asian BBQ chicken skewers were delicious. I also recommend the winter salad. The desserts are just the right size to satisfy one's post dinner sweet tooth."

  • "We had a great time ! Initially just went for dinner than discovered they had a new years eve special upstairs at the bar so after dinner we went up and brought the new year in with good drinks, good music ,not crowded and bartender was very friendly and provided great customer service. Cant wait to go back with girlfriends to try some of the other dinner menu items I seen !!!"

  • "Really nice menu: I had a hard time deciding what to have for dinner. (Not the usual dilemma in a restaurant that's not strictly vegetarian.) My veggie pasta dish was tasty, as was the tofu stir fry. Other veggie options sounded good too. The servings are a bit small, but the quality makes up for that. And desert was pretty special too, in both taste and presentation."

  • "I returned to this restaurant a little more than a week after my first visit. I had in mind what I was planning on eating based on what I ordered and what I was my second choice on my first visit. I ended up ordering a special as it was NYE. I was not disappointed. I like that it is indicated on the menu if a dish is over 500 calories. Most dishes have a grain or starch and a vegetable served with them. The desserts are the right size and a great price. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely return."

  • "Although I dined at Harvest on New Year's Eve, this is a great place to dine anytime. Although they featured a special menu for the evening, I did not order from it. The prices were fair and the food came expeditiously and was cooked perfectly. I like that the menu changes with the seasons so that local produce can be featured."

  • "Chose Harvest after the 6p new years eve fireworks. I am a dad with 2 small children, with me was my wife & two grandparents. We sat in a large comfortable booth with high backs, so when my daughter wanted to say hi to other patrons, she was too short to look over. We sat comfortably in the booth, plenty of room for a party of 6. Jeremy, our waiter offered professional & impeccable attentive service from checking in our coats to altering the menu to accomidate our tastes. Food was fresh & delicious, good size portions to satisfy. Only suggestion, lobster bisque could have used bits of lobster-personal preference. Ambience was pleasant. Diners spaced out nicely & not jammed in elbow to elbow. Overall very enjoyable & will definitely return."

  • "The food was good but not exceptional and I felt the portions could definitely be bigger. Our waitress was wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable - she knew almost everything about the menu even though it was the first day of the new seasonal menu. The ambiance was very nice."

  • "Enjoyed the experience. (I thought the waiter should have visited more often, but understand that the lunch crowd contributed to the timing.) He was a good natured, sweet young man."

  • "We have eaten here several times and the experience is never the same. We want to give this place a chance since the service is good and its in the neighborhood but the food is hit or miss. I had the short ribs and they were overcooked and dry. I've had this dish here before and it was delicious, not so much this time. My companion had the duck and half of it was cooked correctly while half of it was obviously undercooked. The plate should have never left the kitchen. I sympathize with the server who was obviously embarrassed to have served this meal to customers. It will be awhile before I return to Harvest. Hopefully they'll get some consistency in their kitchen."

  • "Fun, good food, friendly server but felt rushed in and out. Fall menu offered great choices for all palates but know the portions are small as they watch your calories."
