  • "Some of the best service I have ever had. It was a very pleasant no stress experience."

  • "We were seated promptly, our server, Jeani was excellent and made sure that we didn't lack for anything. Appetizers: dungeness crab salad w/ lime viniagrette and lobster chowder. The salad was light, the flavours well balanced. The chowder, which both of us thought should more properly be called a bisque, superb. Both are well worth ordering! My SO had a rare 6 oz. beef tenderloin and I went with the bison duo (also rare). The mains arrived quickly, hot, and the sides were delightful, broccolini, asparagus, and roasted carrots. The potatoes were worth ordering on their own, mashed with mascarpone. Dessert was a white chocolate quince bombe with pear icewine sorbet. I won't even try to express just how good it was, order it and you'll see!"

  • "This is an under appreciated Edmonton Gem. The Harvest Room is perfect for quiet, romantic dining, and special occasions. The food is delicious, with imaginative entrees that are well presented. The service was friendly and impeccable. The wine list may be pricey for some, but it's a minor criticism of this outstanding Hotel restaurant."

  • "Service was nothing short of exceptional! My veal was over cooked but without any hesitation the staff of the harvest room encouraged me to allow their chefs to make me a whole new entree! Would definitely go back and would recommended this restaurant to anyone who wants a great dining experience with outstanding service."

  • "Starting with the amuse bouche of a mushroom salad, then the Ostrich, and finally the white chocolate and whiskey, it was very fresh and satisfying. The Harvest Room is one of the best examples of a restaurant not needing too much salt or sugar. To end it off the Glenmorangie 30 was so evocative and refreshing I could smell many different wood smells (wood cabin/fresh cut wood/mahogany/sauna), plus vanilla, green fields, leather and rain (ozone). Leaving the restaurant and walking in the fetid reeking downtown Edmonton was filtered by the refreshing whisky breath I had. Very memorable."

  • "Our family loved the beautiful dining room and the view. Initially, we were disappointed by the size of the selection, but although limited, everything was delicious. Everyone had a favourite that they went back for seconds and thirds. We went for the lunch buffet on a Groupon and this made it very affordable. If we had not had a Groupon, the cost for four lunch buffets, a glass of wine, and a coffee would have been $137 for lunch. Unaffordable for a family of four, but a great date place for two."

  • "Me and my wife went to the Harvest room for a nice dinner without the kids. Food was very good, Service was ok and the overall resteraunt look was ok. I would pass on the desert next time as me and my wife thought it was nothing special (Brulle & cranberry cake) however the main course was amazing (ostrich and guinea hen)."

  • "Positives: The dining room is small, but this = "intimate" so quite nice. There are beautiful vistas of the river below and we were seated near the windows. Service and food both excellent. We had the lobster chowder, seared sea scallops, the ostrich and ling cod entrees; all delicious and beautifully plated. Wine by the glass was a very acceptable "glass of wine" and not the hugely- insulting 3 oz. offered up by some nearby establishments. Negatives: Valet parking is $16. And, the entrance foyer, so very small, is also an exit route for servers with huge trays of room service items. None said "excuse me" and none smiled. Valet + Entrance Foyer = negative 1st impression. Once seated, however, everything was excellent."

  • "I asked the waiter for recommendations for drinks, but he seemed uninterested and annoyed by my question. I ended up ordering an alcohol-infused tea, and ended up not drinking it until halfway through because it was way too hot. In addition, the waiter asked me if I wanted bottled water and THEN passed the menu. He failed to mention it was $2.50/person. Other than those issues, the food was amazing! The downtown dining menu was on point - the lobster chowder was flavourful and not too salty, and the ostrich was PERFECT. The white chocolate bombe was a little on the sweet side, but the sorbet made up for it. Upon ordering, I asked the waiter what exactly a "bombe" was, and he passed me the menu and told me to just read it..quite rude."

  • "Went for lunch with a friend. The lunch buffet was mediocre at best. Nothing really interesting or especially tasty. Nothing terrible either, just meh. Bland and boring. Service was terrific though."

  • "Everything about our lunch at the Harvest Room was perfect. From the smartly dressed serving staff who were all amazingly attentive and professional to the lovely background music and beautiful decor, this was a fantastic lunch experience. The variety and quality of the buffet items was just right, I tried a little bit of everything and it was all delicious (not to mention being attractively displayed). I will definately go again and would highly recommend the Harvest Room as a special place to have lunch."

  • "We dined here for our wedding anniversary, it was wonderful. Every staff member we interacted with knew we were dining for a special occasion and went out of their way to make sure everything was just right for our special evening. The waiter even recommended and served a special wine that isn't normally sold by the glass, which was very much appreciated as I wasn't interested in the other by the glass selections. The food was spot on and wonderful. We were treated to a special anniversary plate of chocolates by the restaurant, I'm quite certain they were Bernard Callebaut, simply delicious from start to finish."

  • "We went with a group of 8 for a birthday dinner. No one present to seat us when we arrived. Came back twice, finally wandered to the lounge. After about 10 minutes one of our party told the waiter in the lounge that we were waiting for a table. He went to check and told us it was not ready. Finally ready and we go in. Service was satisfactory, food was very good. Steak was perfect, Bison was good, appetizers were good. Overall, a nice experience despite the start. Bill, $840 without tip. Over $100/person. This included a cocktail each and two bottles of $60 wine. In Edmonton, there are top notch restaurants for less. Normand's and the Hardware Grill for a couple."

  • "Great food and just the right amount. The service was some of the best I've ever had, if not the best. We did the wine pairing as well and it was phenomenal. There was a live harp playing and it was the most enjoyable music I've ever heard while out for dinner. To top it off, they gave complimentary roses to the ladies in the restaurant."

  • "Service was great. Wine served by the glass was great and well valued. Little pricey for lunch but all and all my friend and I had a great relaxing lunch. My friend didn't have an alcholic drink. Buffet lunch with one glass of wine plus tip set me back approximately $80.00 which I consider pricey for lunch. Would definately go back. I have dined there quite a few times albeit mostly for dinner."

  • "We make a point of going to the Harvest room for lunch during convention every year because it makes us feel special. We enjoy the atmosphere, food and the chance to get together."

  • "I went for the executive lunch bar with my Groupon. The selection was limited, but the food was quite good. There was one soup, a choice of caesar or greens for salad, a smoked salmon wrap, and a few sandwiches. There was also a hot pasta dish and warm bread pudding for dessert. At the end of the meal we were unable to pay the bill with Visa because the machine was down. We waited for about 15-20 mins and they still couldn't get the machine to work. I just find it really strange that such a prestigious hotel would not even have one working Visa machine."

  • "Perfect service, the waiter Santana is there just when you need him, and invisible when you don't. Amazing food, taking first and second place for best food of our lives for my girlfriend and I respectively. Lobster chowder is an appetizer but worth coming to the harvest room for if it was the only thing they served, and the scallops were perfectly cooked."

  • "To begin with the online reservation process was simple and fast. The reminder email was a great touch and beneficial. From the moment we walked up to the reservation desk, met the hostess, hung up our coats, we were treated excellently. Our table was elevated and near a window overlooking the expansive patio. Our waiter, Santana, spoke to us by name, never experienced that before. I mentioned to my wife that Santana was born to be a waiter. This man is beyond words in terms of his attention to detail, friendliness, knowledge, and service. Santana made our evening even more memorable. The food was excellent, no other word to describe it, and plentiful. I was very content at the conclusion of my meal as was my wife."

  • "Noticed there was a GroupOn available for the Harvest Room so I purchased it and took my mother there for lunch. We love the Fairmont chains but don't frequent the one in Edmonton, so I thought this would be a good excuse. Overall, the service and food was good; however, we noticed that we received slightly different service than some of the other patrons (ex. our jackets were not taken when we were seated so we had to keep them at our seats). Not too sure if this was an oversight or because we had the GroupOn. Our server Michelle was a fantastic and attended to all our needs; funny, witty, friendly and professional. Thank you for making my mom's first visit to the Harvest Room a delightful experience."

  • "The Harvest is one of the best dinning rooms in the city. The food is always very good and the service is impeccable. This is in the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald and the service is part of the great service one always gets at the Fairmont. I have no hesitation in recommending the Harvest Room."

  • "Had the a la carte breakfast just after Christmas with my mom. It was lovely, and the best eggs benedict I've ever had in a restaurant. They cooked the eggs perfectly even though I forgot to specify that I don't like them too runny. Honestly, my only complaint were some of the other guests - I'm not sure who in their right mind wears a baseball cap to eat the Hotel Macdonald."

  • "A favourite dining room for us; the quality and presentation of the food is always dependable. The servers have been well trained and are familiar with not only the dishes on the menu, but the cocktails and the wine. We are able to enjoy dinner without feeling rushed for the next setting and enjoy the complimentary palate cleansing sorbet between courses and the chocolates that accompany the tea or coffee at the end of the meal. A beautiful room and an enjoyable evening out."

  • "Only opening was at 1145am, so we took it. Room was confusing, offering buffet breakfast and lunch and brunch selections The waitress didn't offer any choices, had to inquire about the buffet. Only brought us juice and coffee, and we had to request a drink. Then waited a long time, without bread to snack on before the entrée came. Bread came reluctantly, along with the meal. The food was good, as it should be for the price. But when we finished our meal, the entire room was empty...full of "no shows" Great, that meant we could have made a later booking ! Not one guest showed up. I wonder what the attendance was for the evening Gala Meal? There should be a penalty for no shows, You should revise your booking policies for peak times."

  • "We ate at the Harvest Room as a party of 4. It has been about 5 years since my wife and I had last been to this restaurant. The small size of the restaurant contributed to the quiet atmosphere which was enjoyable. Our server was polite although a tad too "proper" and serious for our group. Not sure if this is what Fairmont expects of its servers, or if it was just this particular server's personality. Drinks were okay, as was the food. We are no stranger to the cost of this restaurant but did expect a little more for a bill exceeding $500. I appreciate that North Americans have become accustomed to portions that are unnecessarily large, but given the price of the dishes we expected more when it came to appetizers."

  • "The all over dining experience was very good; the food was excellent and the ambience suited the mood. Two slip ups were corrected before it ruined our night out: Our server brought another couple's order to our table and topped up my sparkle water with tap water. The plate with strawberries and chocolate for our anniversary ended our evening on a high note."

  • "The Harvest Room itself provides a beautiful decor and ambiance. The seafood potlach and lamb special were both wonderfully prepared. The dungeness crab salad was refreshing."

  • "Went to the Harvest room for lunch. Went at 1pm and it wasn't busy, but they only had one waiter so the service was slow. You could see food up on the pass through window waiting for up to 10min to be brought out; eventually the hostess started bringing food out. The waiter was friendly and professional, but clearly couldn't manage all of the tables. We ordered soup for starters, which was OK. After we finished our soup some bread was brought to our table; it would have been nice to have bread while we were waiting for our starter, or else with our soup... Our mains were OK, pear and cranberry salad was good, husband had duck confit sandwich which was overpowered by a very strong cheese on it. Overall, would expect better for the price"

  • "Our waiter came and took our drink orders. My glass of wine came right away but the beer we ordered did not. We finally had to catch the waiter about 15 minutes later to remind him. Throughout the evening we had to pour our own bottle of wine as did the others in our section. We are allergic to peppers and told the waiter about it. When our meals arrived the waiter just dropped them off. He didn't come back to make sure everything was okay. There were peppers on the chicken and the prime rib was rare, not medium as ordered. The hostess did finally bring us new meals but there were still peppers in the chicken but we were tired of complaining. Overall, for the price and reputation we were very disappointed with the Harvest Room."

  • "Both my guest and I were taken aback by the odd manner and defensiveness of one of the servers to the extent she dimmed the atmosphere. I even recall her from a previous time. She had an unfriendly manner and disposition (mannerisms, look on her face) and didn't seem to be enjoying her job. Fortunately, another server took over (?) who was much better. Even though she made a mistake on the order which delayed the food, she was direct, honest, and sincere about her apology. The food was great although we were never asked if we wanted anything to drink when the food was finally delivered and by which time we had finished what drinks we had."
