Diner Reviews
  • "The food was exceptional! We added things that were not on the menu and it was taken care of without a problem and with a smile. Our server was Ivan and he was excellent. Very accommodating and attentive. It was a great experience!"

  • "We purchased the groupon to go to the Harvest room. It would not have been affordable for us otherwise. It was fantastic. The food and service were wonderful and it was nice and quiet. I had the chicken and it was delicious and full portions so no one went home hungry. Our server also brought me a pretty little piece of cake with candle and chocolate writing as it was my birthday. Very special Night"

  • "The Harvest room still has the same great food, but you notice the little things that have been paired away. There are no tablecloths anymore, just the bare table. The staff ( especially the bar staff,) now wear golf shirts instead of the very professional black and white always worn here. I liked the old Mac, I liked the higher standards."

  • "Awesome place, amazing food & staff!. I can go on and, on however, I think you get the drift.."

  • "We were delighted with the both the atmosphere and the service. Sanatana our server was fabulous. We were celebrating a special occasion and walked away from the restaurant feeling very special and we did not even mention to our server it was a special occasion. We had our 5 year old granddaughter with us and Santana treated her like a princess and she loved every minute of it, so much so she wanted to explore the rest of the castle. Her reaction to the restaurant was "This is beautiful". The presentation of the food and the taste were phenomenal. There definitely was a special uniqueness in the flavors of the food, which were delightful to the palate."

  • "Good ambience, great service, small portions, unreasonable prices for food and drinks. My husband ordered the lamb and only received 4 small pieces of meat for $48."

  • "My wife and I went to the Harvest Room for our anniversary. We had heard great things about the Harvest Room and it definitely surpassed our expectations. The food was cooked to perfection, the wine and champagne list was extensive and the service was above and beyond what we have experienced at other restaurants. The weather was amazing so we decided to sit on the patio which is a beautiful oasis with an amazing view of the river valley. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "The Harvest Room is always great. Excellent food and service is why we keep going back. This is the best dining in Edmonton."

  • "A FANTASTIC place to ENJOY a 50th anniversary. The view was most enjoyable. The food was presented beautifully."

  • "My wife and I try to go to the harvest room a few times per year. I would hazard to say the most flavourful meal money can buy. I find a lot of top shelf restaurants don't push the flavour edge but the chef at the harvest room always does. In fact last Xmas he prepared a meal for a friends child that's anaphylactic to all but 4 items in total. He prepared a great dish both flavourful and well presented. Amazing."

  • "The service we received made the evening extra special. The assistant outlets manager John Markey went out of his way to make us feel special. From the moment we arrived until we left. Our waiter Santana gave us excellent service and also made us feel very special. Thank you to the two of you. "

  • "My wife and I dinned on the terrace over looking the river valley. We love the view and the food was outstanding. Toward the end of our meal the weather began to change when the rain clouds began to roll in, the staff offered us a warm blanket and turned on the heat lamp. An overall perfect evening. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Pelland"

  • "For a high class hotel & restaurant like hotel Mac, I have to say, I was shocked to see when the waiter brought my straw holding it in his hand & put it straight in my glass without being warped in a napkin. Do I have to say more??!!"

  • "Gorgeous scenery, intimate feel, and friendly staff. However, lunch buffet was extremely limited and mediocre. "

  • "My husband and I spent our anniversary dinner at the Harvest Room. Our waiter (Santana) was so gracious and brought us several special "extras". The little cake at the end was particularly nice. The food was delicious and the ambience is always lovely. Thanks you. "

  • "We had a lovely evening in the Harvest Room. The meal was as good as any we've had. Great menu variety with lots of special "touches". Definitely recommend it for a quiet or romantic night out!! Service was perfect - not too much...but there when we needed or wanted anything! Not intrusive at all! "

  • "The high tea was very enjoyable. I was only disappointed with the china. It would have made the experience that much more special had the china used been more 'english' and traditional. Service was great, and the food was great. The tour of the hotel thereafter was very well-led, but a bit underwhelming. A trip to all the halls on the main floor would have been great, we only saw the Wedgewood room. I don't think it's worth showing something like the George room at all, unless of course, there are some really great stories to go along with it. I would have rather seen the other halls on the main floor, or toured the grounds outside or something. "

  • "I've always wanted to visit the Fairmont and finally did, if only for drinks on the terrace. Even an overcast and eventually misty evening didn't dampen my experience. I only gave 3 stars for food because my choice of red wine wasn't available and one of my dining companions didn't like the appetizer we chose (dips and breads). However, the service was friendly and informative and the atmosphere was beautiful. I'll be back for the complete dining experience!"

  • "Great service, incredible food and wonderful atmosphere. Obviously on the pricier side but you just have to know that going in. The staff put in extra effort without me asking to make my girlfriend's night special as we were celebrating for her. "

  • "Really expensive for what you get even with a groupon"

  • "Beautiful Harvest Room was perfect for a romantic lunch. Food was delicious although the buffet selection was quite small (one soup, one dessert, one hot dish, a couple of salads and 4 types of pita/bread sandwiches). Beverages were not included in buffet price but the wine and coffee were all lovely. Presentation of food and table settings as well as service were all faultless. We loved the view both of the Harvest room and of the river valley. It was my husbands birthday and he was presented with a lovely arrangement of fruit and chocolates at the end of the meal (on the house)."

  • "I am glad that I only ate here because of a Groupon. If I had paid full price for the lunch buffet, I would feel cheated. I have eaten at the hotel on other occasions and thought the food was great but I will not return to the lunch buffet. I can get a better meal for less at one of the delicious food trucks parked on Jasper Ave!"

  • "Service was amazing with great attention to detail. We informed the maître d of our evening plans and they timed our meal to accommodate our schedule without feeling as if we were rushed. The presentation of the meal was appealing and the flavours were perfect. Everything cooked to perfection. Yes, the cost is more than most places but not out of line for the whole dining package. We will definitely return. "

  • "Went on a groupon and even then the price paid wasn't worth it. I paid $28.00 for two lunch buffets. Buffet was very limited with only one dessert so if you don't like plum pudding nothing else was available. The salad was a one bowl each of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, croutons and parmesan cheese plus dressings. Couple choices of sandwiches and one soup which was interesting - carrot & ginger. After paying for coffee & tea at $4.00 each plus tip based on food value I was sitting at $46.00, then to top it off we paid $5.00 to park there. Not worth it and won't be going back"

  • "My daughter and I went for first time to Harvest Room lunch buffet and used a groupon. We were not too excited about what was on for buffet. I found there was not enough items especially for what you pay and my daughter did not like nothing except for the salad. I will not be back again. Sorry, thanks."

  • "I have always like Harvest room. But this last lunch buffet was just average. $28 per person for lunch buffet that only have 1 soup, 2 salad, 4 sandwich, 1 desert to choose from. I wouldn't call it much a buffet with only 1 soup & 1 desert as choices. Food was just okay. Nothing spectacular. The set up of the buffet was a bit weird too. The salad bowls almost fall off the pedestal. The heated pasta container was not stable, keep moving when you grabbing food. For the price we paid, I would imagine they can do a better job in many aspects. Disappointed."

  • "We chose the Harvest Room to celebrate an 87th birthday. The staff picked up on this quickly and prepared a special plate for dessert with chocolates and Happy Birthday in chocolate script. Our server was considerate, kind and attentive. The food was excellent and the surroundings unbeatable."

  • "The Harvest Room has always been my favourite, usually with the best food i've ever had. But this time when we went I was disappointed. The side dishes like the potatoes were really bland and the sorbet I had for dessert didn't taste good at all. It tasted like it had been in the freezer for a few years. Service was amazing, coffee was amazing, atmosphere was amazing. Food just was not amazing, for once. "

  • "Great service and very good food. The place is beautiful and it is nice to go to once in awhile. Only issue is very expensive for lunch so I would save this for a special meeting or event!"

  • "We were seated promptly, our server, Jeani was excellent and made sure that we didn't lack for anything. Appetizers: dungeness crab salad w/ lime viniagrette and lobster chowder. The salad was light, the flavours well balanced. The chowder, which both of us thought should more properly be called a bisque, superb. Both are well worth ordering! My SO had a rare 6 oz. beef tenderloin and I went with the bison duo (also rare). The mains arrived quickly, hot, and the sides were delightful, broccolini, asparagus, and roasted carrots. The potatoes were worth ordering on their own, mashed with mascarpone. Dessert was a white chocolate quince bombe with pear icewine sorbet. I won't even try to express just how good it was, order it and you'll see!"

  • "This is an under appreciated Edmonton Gem. The Harvest Room is perfect for quiet, romantic dining, and special occasions. The food is delicious, with imaginative entrees that are well presented. The service was friendly and impeccable. The wine list may be pricey for some, but it's a minor criticism of this outstanding Hotel restaurant."

  • "Service was nothing short of exceptional! My veal was over cooked but without any hesitation the staff of the harvest room encouraged me to allow their chefs to make me a whole new entree! Would definitely go back and would recommended this restaurant to anyone who wants a great dining experience with outstanding service."

  • "Starting with the amuse bouche of a mushroom salad, then the Ostrich, and finally the white chocolate and whiskey, it was very fresh and satisfying. The Harvest Room is one of the best examples of a restaurant not needing too much salt or sugar. To end it off the Glenmorangie 30 was so evocative and refreshing I could smell many different wood smells (wood cabin/fresh cut wood/mahogany/sauna), plus vanilla, green fields, leather and rain (ozone). Leaving the restaurant and walking in the fetid reeking downtown Edmonton was filtered by the refreshing whisky breath I had. Very memorable."

  • "Our family loved the beautiful dining room and the view. Initially, we were disappointed by the size of the selection, but although limited, everything was delicious. Everyone had a favourite that they went back for seconds and thirds. We went for the lunch buffet on a Groupon and this made it very affordable. If we had not had a Groupon, the cost for four lunch buffets, a glass of wine, and a coffee would have been $137 for lunch. Unaffordable for a family of four, but a great date place for two."
