The intimate cavernous feel of the main dining area sets the mood for a leisurely feast. The kitchen looks and feels like a trattoria tucked away in an Italian hill town. The wine list has surprising depth and flair designed to complement the food flavors. Maurizio, our waiter, is the epitome of great service--professional and personable. Only downside was that the dining room was just too loud to have a conversation, so it wasn't the ideal spot for a romantic dinner that I had hoped for. Dont miss going here!My wife and I were visiting wine country for the first time and Harvest Moon had come highly recommended by a chef friend. Very, very good and amazing food!!! The staff was so much fun! We tried to go back but the only reservations left were really early and really late!! Definitely a high quality restaurant with a backyard feel. The menu is somewhat limited but this is in keeping with the way the restaurant works. My wife and I both had the breakfast dishes, French toast & biscuits, gravy with scrambled eggs, both were great. They made a simple grilled cheese sandwich for my 4 year old daughter. I had fried rabbit and my wife a halibut - the best examples of each we've ever had, and we dine out on the east coast twice a week. Service was excellent, I enjoyed sitting inside and watching the chefs prepare our meal with efficiency and artistry. The food was fresh and the mix of flavors was both interesting and delicious. Our waitress must have great job satisfacion to be able to present such wonderful choices and it showed in her enjoyment while serving us. We shared two excellent and diverse salads with ingredients such as fava beans, peas. pomegranite and hummus or oranges and lentils and amonds. The halibut was the best I've ever had, and the peanut butterr chocolate chip brownie with homemade bottersweet chocolate ice cream was amazingly simple and delicious!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe indoor dining area isThe indoor dining area is small and can get noisy but the outdoor area is quite spacious and comfortable. The homemade donuts are delicious!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Harvest Moon Cafe hasThe Harvest Moon Cafe has become our favorite Sonoma restaurant. We took our 4.5 year old daughter this time. It is always a challenge to take kids to good restaurants. We sat out in the Patio (covered and heated this time of the year). My daughter was brought a box of crayons and paper to color as soon as were got there. They made a great mac & cheese for our daughter and she nibbled on other things. The treatment of our daughter made this an great family dinner. There were also other kids there. Of course, the food for the adults was again great and we enjoyed every dish. The mushroom risotto was memorable and our steak very nicely prepared. All our dishes showed care and sophistication without being fussy.
The wine list had a good mix of quality and value. I liked the open kitchen and the intimate setting.
