Diner Reviews
  • "We had a wonderful dining experience at lunch at Harvest. A knowledgable, helpful server--terrific food. The burgoo is flavorful with clean, light flavors instead of the muddy muddle that's often served. One of the best roast beef sandwiches anywhere, and a terrific sweet potato hummus. Understated, attractive decor."

  • "My wife and I went for our 11th year anniversary. We went for a late lunch and it was very nice and quiet. If the restaurant have been full it will be very loud due to the hardwood floors. The ambience is wonderful in the idea behind the restaurant is awesome. Skip the breadboard if getting an appetizer. Small but good. The barbecue was delicious and the burger was fantastic. We will definitely be back in the future for another special occasion!"

  • "Wonderful concept, great food, and very personable service. Drinks were more expensive than they should've been, but the food was outstanding. Had the chicken and waffles and was literally blown away - so great! If I lived here, this would be one of my favorite dining establishments. Being from out of town, didn't know about trolley service - don't walk ... area is a bit shady."

  • "Took a party of 9 visitors for dinner and every one was thrilled with their meals. Some didn't like the chicken livers, but they were very good and not greasy. The house salad was a fine creation and the chicken dinner was outstanding. My best friend loved the BBQ platter. Deserts were great as well. Bourbon flights provided great selection of those tastes. A great taste of Kentucky!"

  • "I have been to the Harvest Restaurant before for a bachelorette party for my friend and college roommate. It was so delicious and the staff were so accommodating (the manager/owner even came around and talked about the fresh produce and the meaning of the restaurant) that I had to bring my husband back for a date. We made a reservation the day of and was pleasantly surprised to see they had open tables. The food was amazing, we never ran out of water, and the staff were very accommodating. I've told all my friends and family to try this restaurant. We will be back."

  • "We have always like going to Harvest (been 10+ times), but this trip was a bit underwhelming. The food was under seasoned, the prices have been raised, and the kids' menu was lacking any real substance (three items, no sides, no veggies). Also the wine pours were on the light side. We'll wait a while before venturing back."

  • "Our server was Jason, he was very personable, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the Pork Chop, which I would describe as the best pork chop I can ever remember having. It was cooked perfectly with smoky and juicy flavors that were excellent and it was complimented excellently with the accompaniments that came with it. The beer I had - a Country Boy seasonal beer - was also perfect to go with my meal. I had the chocolate flourless tort for dessert which was delicious, even though I had saved only a small room for dessert I finished the whole thing! The room was bustling with a great crowd of locals, varying levels of casual and dressy. I would definitely recommend!"

  • "I had hoped to find a more varied vegetarian menu. The night we went, there was one vegetarian entree and one salad that did not contain meat. Additionally, one of the three desserts contained meat! I assumed that a restaurant that restaurant that specializes in local ingredients would have a little more balance between animal and vegetable fare. The food we ordered was delicious, but for three of four at our table the choices were quite constrained."

  • "Outstanding dining experience. Our server was very informed and friendly. The biscuits (as an appetizer) were tremendous. Regional fare is a great theme and the food was excellent. Not our first visit and it won't be our last. Couple with a trip to the Center for the Arts, our visit made for a nice evening out."

  • "The restaurant was packed and very loud. I had a salad, which I liked a great deal. Fried chicken - not enough flavor. 3 cheese grits were okay and the greens were seasoned too harshly for my taste. Two of us had a glas of wine and both glasses seemed like extremely stingy pours. Server was excellent "

  • "I have been to Harvest many times for dinner, but this was my first time a lunch. As usual, lots of local vegetables, and a nice brief menu. Service was good, so easy to get in and out. Some seating outside for a nice day. I recommned a table near the front as it is quieter. For conversation, the main room can be loud. "

  • "This is perhaps the best realization of the farm to table concept in town. The walls contain sketches of the farmers and a map of their locations, and the food is prepared with flair and, dare I even say, reverence. It was bustling---a euphemism for too noisy---even on a weeknight, and the tables are appropriately rustic, except for a few with white tablecloths. Everything we had was excellent and service was friendly. However, the wine pour was very small and not a good value. I'd stick to a bourbon or a beer."

  • "Ate an early dinner at Harvest. The server was very well acquainted with the menu and was able to answer all our questions. She presented the information with enthusiasm. The cheese board and jams were excellent. Had the salad of the day which had some very interesting greens. It was yummy. There were 4 of us having 3 different entrees, chicken, burger, and gnocchi. Each was delicious. The service was excellent! Food courses came at the right times and used plates and utensils were picked up and replaced. Water glasses were filled continuously. We would definitely return to try out more of the menu items."

  • "I had heard so many great things about Harvest so maybe my expectations were unobtainable. Food was good but I would not say great. My salad arrived with the dirt pod still attached to the lettuce. No big issue for me, they did present a complimentary dessert.(sorghum/molasses cookie>>not very good, I did not eat more than one bite) Food potions were small. I tried the fried chicken. Small half breast with one partial tenderloin. Flavor of chicken was overpowered by the peppermill gravy..which was tasty but very peppery. Small taste of strawberry/jalepeno sauce was OK. The Drunken Pork Trio Hoecake tasted like Bisquick. It was OK."

  • "Harvest was my 23 year old daughter's choice for her birthday dinner. The food was thoughtfully prepared and tasty. The wine/beer/spirits selection was most impressive. Service was good but our most memorable part will be one of the farmers who supplies the food visiting our table. He took the time to introduce himself and explained the Harvest concept of using local food. The decor honors these local suppliers and the restaurant atmosphere is very comfortable. "

  • "I had heard great things about this restaurant and brought a friend for a special dinner. I was very disappointed with the food -- it wasn't just mediocre; it was bad! The cheese board was ok, not very inspired choices, and the salad was mediocre. Our entrees -- fried chicken and a steak that they boasted was aged for 30 days -- were yuck! I could have spent a third or forth less and eaten a much better meal elsewhere. On the positive side, the service was good (tho our server didn't know his wine/port list too well), and the restaurant is a lovely space. "

  • "I travel to Louisville for business, and have entertained different clients at Harvest 4 times now. Fortunately, I have been able to get a window table and had Robin be our server several times. She is excellent! The concept of using local is very cool and the food has been consistently good. The main improvement I'd like to see is an attempt to reduce the noise level. Even at the window tables, you must talk pretty loud to be heard. When walking to the restroom, you notice that the main dining room is considerably louder. So, I think if I was ever seated there, my experience would not be quite as positive. "

  • "We came to Harvest for our 13th wedding anniversary, and the experience was an "A+" on every level! Our server was super helpful and friendly, our meal was outstanding and the ambience was great. I'd go back for the scones appetizer alone! The BBQ board was excellent too. Good draft beer list, and the cocktails were worth the extra splurge (they're pricey but great). Our server brought us a berry crisp dessert that was awesome too. We'll be going back there for sure!"
