  • "I had dinner at Harvest this past Friday. The food and service were very good, as always. I have only two suggestions. The first is to have some real vegetarian entrees, not just a "veg plate." In this day and age, at least one creative vegetarian option should be more than an after thought found in the small print at the bottom of the menu. The second is the temperature - the past two times I've dined there, it was very warm in the dining room. A few degrees cooler would make for a far more comfortable dining experience. Otherwise, Harvest is always a popular choice with my dining companions."

  • "Time after time it remains an excellent experience of service and food. Although I wish desserts were not so deconstructed and fell back to a more old fashion character. This is not particular to Harvest but a general comment about how desserts are served today."

  • "beautiful restaurant, great food and well priced selections on list. Waiter very friendly but took forever to take our order after he gave us drinks. We had told him were ready, said he'd be right back and then 20 minutes later, after I saw him eying us and deciding to bring menus to new arrivals rather than coming back, he showed up. Appetizers arrived but dinner was another 30-40 minutes in coming. Waiter avoided us the entire time. When food finally came were essentially finished with the wine. Asked for the check rather than waiting for dessert and coffee. Tuna and lobster both great, Caesar salad meager and uninteresting."

  • "On a Thursday evening they accommodated a group of 8 seamlessly. Our server took good care of us and service was timely, which is hard to do with a large dinner group. From drinks to dessert our meal was outstanding. Everyone at the table was completely happy with their entree. I ordered the lobster and the presentation was surprising and delightful. All of the dishes were works of art as well as wonderful eating. I can't wait for another occasion that will take me back to Cambridge!"

  • "My partner and I were disappointed with our experience at Harvest. While the entree was fantastic (we shared the cold seafood platter), the rest of the food was over-salted. I couldn't finish my main (too salty), and the lettuce on the beetroot salad was difficult to eat because there was so much salt on it. We also felt that the experience was rushed - we were not given a chance to enjoy our meal. We were seated by 7.15, and rushed out the door by around 9. Starting with a cocktail, then 3 courses, this just wasn't enough time to settle in and enjoy the experience. We had ordered a bottle of wine to share, and found that we still had a full glass left after the entire meal was complete. Expensive and rushed."

  • "The food was excellent but the portions were small. The pea soup came in what appeared to be a wide brimmed hat (rim) and a very small bowl. The tuna was perfect and reasonably sized. It was pretty much by itself with some carrots for garnish and a curry and olive tapenade. Sides noticeably missing. Hazelnut dessert was about 1/4 of the size that it should have been, however it was beautifully presented. Great service. Nice pairings of wine. But a bit out of my price range, especially considering the portions."

  • "We ate dinner here after a long day of college tours.Sat at the bar for an hour because the tour ended and our dinner reservation was 5:30. Our daughter went off and shopped ( lots of great stores around this restaurant.) Husband and I enjoyed some wine and beer . Really great service. Dinner was perfect in every way. It was restaurant week and the restaurant was full. Make a reservation!"

  • "Our dinner at Harvest was great. The food was delicious, the wine was perfect, and the ambience was perfect for a romantic night out with your favorite person. The lobster macaroni and cheese was one of the best things I've ever eaten, make sure to check it out because this is the perfect adult mac-n-cheese. Our dinner, the steak and the chicken, were beautifully cooked and very flavorful. The sides on those entrees were perfect, almost reason enough to order what we did! I would definitely come back and recommend anyone to check it out. Just be aware that this is an expensive dinner. Although they did have a "Dine-out-Boston" menu the evening we went that was less expensive, we did not try it because the normal menu sounded so much better."

  • "This is the third time we have been to Harvest, and we have not been disappointed. Two of the three times we happened to hit Restaurant Week, or whatever it is called now. Even though we were there on a Saturday night which is not technically part of Restaurant Week, Harvest offered the same wonderful prix fixe selections. We had the wine pairing which I would highly recommend. The third time we went to Harvest, we took our grown children for a holiday dinner. Everyone loved it. The restaurant is lively, and the service was attentive, knowledgeable, and polite."

  • "We chose the Harvest because we were in the square for a show and wanted to take advantage of the Dine Out Boston selections. While limited, the prix fixe menu offerings were tasty and beautiful. Would recommend the pea tendril salad and the wine pairings with that and the gnocchi. The dessert wine was too syrupy for my taste. I like to pair a less sweet wine with a sweet dessert, but overall quite enjoyable. Did not turn out to be a bargain, however. PRICEY for the portions. I'm not a big person or eater, but I do like to have more than 4 mouthfuls to my main course. The courtyard would be a lovely place to eat in summer and plan to return to take advantage of that. Drinks and apps, perhaps more wallet friendly."

  • "Came with boyfriend and friend for "Dine Out Boston 2014" Menu was appetizing, but disappointed. 3 stars for starter. 2 stars for entree. 5 stars for dessert. 1.5 stars for service. We waited 45 minutes for our entree, which probably made us a but more critical of the service. Felt as though the gentlemen refilling glasses were hovering. Perhaps better on a weeknight, but the overall experience didn't leave us wanting to come back, and we wished that it did."

  • "Know going in that you are most likely not going to get full from the small portions and are going to easily pay at least $100 for two, but even with that, It was one of the best meals I have ever had. Very good taste and beautiful presentation. My husband and I did not care for the desserts, but even with that I still rated the food outstanding because it was that good. It can get loud if the tables next to you are loud since all the tables are very close, but still is very romantic."

They were either short staffed, or didn't care about the 'restaurant week customers'. I would like to think that the food would be as little and the wait wouldn't be as long (even when I had a reservation) if I were to come here some time other than the restaurant week."

  • "Raves for the Harvest on their execution of a delightful tasting menu during restaurant week. The mussels appetizer was enveloped by a rich broth and accompanied with toast points. The entrees (Tuna, Pork Tenderloin) were perfectly cooked: the tuna rare and the pork medium rare. The pork was served with a delicious barley risotto and a flavorful asparagus puree. Desserts, a peach tart and a chocolate cheesecake, sealed the deal."

  • "We organized a surprise birthday dinner for my mom here and not only did they accommodate 17 people at one table (after we thought there would only be 12 first and then 16), but they handled multiple complex orders due to food allergies and dietary issues wonderfully. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked and the service was so great. They were incredibly informative and knowledgeable about each dish and they were so accommodating and nice. We had a fabulous birthday celebration for my mom and it was all thanks to Harvest!"

  • "Harvest should be a great place, and I really wish I could love it, but this is the third time I've gone where they've let me down. We had the 'Dine Out Boston' prix fixe with full glass wine pairings. The first two courses were good, and the wine pairings were also good. It was strange that the appetizer and main had two components in common, though (both had asparagus and black garlic). The wine with dessert was an awful choice - fizzy pink sweet stuff. I told the server I didn't like it, he offered me port which was the pairing for the other dessert and I declined. He left. After we were finished he gave me a glass of port I didn't want and walked off. Cambridge has a lot of choice for fine dining, and Harvest is not competing well."

  • "Went here with my boyfriend for "Dine Out Boston" after thoroughly enjoying a special occasion meal with my family almost two years ago. Still love the ambiance (although I wish it had been warm enough to go outside). The only negative aspect of the evening was the portion sizes, which were just about perfect for me, but would definitely leave a guy wishing for more."

  • "I was in Cambridge recently for a conference and colleagues in California had recommended Harvest. I ordered the lobster , which was served on a bed of spaghetti squash, with yellow carrots, and topped with a little mache salad and a smear of basil sauce. I couldn't quite imagine how it would all taste -- but it was a miracle of flavor. I understood from the server that the lobster and vegetables were cooked separately then encased in "a packet" (en papillote, I'm assuming) which melded the flavors together. Truly, this dish is one of the best I have tasted in my life. (I lived in Paris for two years and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu, so I have tasted a few fine dishes indeed.)"

  • "Chose this restaurant as it is close to American Repertory Theatre and offers ticket holders 15% discount off the entire meal. We like very much the restaurant's ambiance, decor and proximity to Harvard Square. Service was excellent. The menu at first glance looked pretty good, but the meal itself was average. The Eggs Benedict with salmon was tasty but salmon tasted like it was an inexpensive farm-raised brand and flavorless and eggs were too under-cooked. The Genoa sandwich sounded really interesting on the menu, but was simply a salami sandwich with melted cheese. The salad greens on the sides were tossed with a nice vinaigrette dressing."

  • "I despise the fact that Harvest feels the need to have foie gras on their menu. Foie gras is the result of force feeding ducks in order to enlarge their livers. It is a cruel and violent act. Shame on Harvest!"

  • "We arrived 30 minutes early for an 8 p.m. dinner reservation for 4. Having requested a table for conversation, we were offered an immediate seating in the main dining or a few minutes wait for a table vacating in the rear. It really was a few minutes. The table was delightful. Our conversation was animated and audible without shouting. The service was exceptional. Attentive, but not overbearing. Friendly, but not cloying. The dinner for all seemed very good. My husband and I had the fixed menu, which was perfect for us. Having eaten at Michelin restaurants, I wouldn't say the food made us swoon, but it was very good and we will certainly go back. I also thought it was good value for the quality of the restaurant and location."

  • "This was a highly anticipated return to Harvest, where we have dined for 35 years. The staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive -- to exactly the right degree, for us. The Caesar salad and the fish tacos were excellently prepared, and absolutely delicious. We were prepared for the level of noise; that's the way it is when you're seated for a table for two at lunch. We gazed out longingly at the dining terrace, which we know to be one of the best in Cambridge."

  • "The service was very attentive (water glass was always full, did not have to look for waiter when we were ready to order or when we wanted the check), but not hovering - nice. The food was good as well, but the entree portions were tiny (appetizer and dessert portions were fine). Even though we all ordered the 3-course prix fixe menu, we left hungry. And this after eating all of the bread as well. Was also not keen that we had to order the prix fixe - there was no option to order just an entree, or just an entree with a couple of appetizers or a salad. Probably would not go back, but might recommend it to someone who had never been (that also doesn't eat much)."

  • "I went to Harvest twice in one day! Took my mother to lunch before a production at the ART, met friends for drinks afterwards. The food, both at lunch and the small bites with our drinks, were delicious, imaginative, perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is terrific, too. It's lovely to see a restaurant that's evolved so that it still feels fresh and new, without giving up the things that have always made it great. Particularly loved the small bites: we had deviled eggs, olives, peppers with bonito flakes, and an adorable tiny lobster roll slider. At lunch the waiter overheard us saying it was my mother's birthday & we were feeling celebratory, & brought her dessert with a candle & happy birthday message."

  • "I have always been a big fan of the bar at Harvest but the dining room did not do it for me. While the service was good, the table/seating arrangements were terrible. Tables for 2 are way too close to one another and the server had to squeeze herself in to serve us. I also had to wiggle my way out of my seat to use the restroom and could easily have not over our neighbor's drink. For this reason too the noise level was too loud; you could not have a private conversation at all. I could not relax entirely or fully enjoy my meal with my husband. That said, the food is great, the ambience very nice if you have a better table but all in all, not where I would go for a romantic meal. I will only visit the bar from now on and have my meals there!"
