Diner Reviews
  • "healthy, light fare in an upscale environment. professional and speedy service - a great alternative to the downtown steakhouse for a business lunch. the large upstairs tables offer a respite from the main dining room buzz of activity."

  • "Any time a special lunch is on the horizon, Haru is the destination. Cannot leave without having Sashimi Tiradito and now, my new favorite was Symphony appetizer. Looking forward to going back soon!"

  • "This is a great place to get fresh and tasty sushi in the FiDi. The prices are pretty steep, but that is to be expected. The only glaring problem is that the staff isn't fully attentive if they think they won't be getting a huge tip. I went with a party of 3 and we all ordered entrees, but when it was clear we weren't out to spend $500 on dinner, we became second class citizens. I'd go back for lunch, but dinner service left much to be desired."

  • "I took my son and his girlfriend here for a nice dinner before they go back to school. Made an early reservation to accommodate transit schedules and keep it relaxed. As luck would have it the NYC health deep shows up to do an annual inspection. Not their fault but they could have at least kept the drinks full and served guests in order of arrival when kitchen reopened. Normally this place is decent so I will likely return. "

  • "Had a v nice lunch at Haru Sushi on Wall Street for my birthday, but it is overpriced and the sushi is nothing special. They do a great deal where if you sign up in advance, you get a $20 money-off voucher for your birthday, which is why we went. There is a nice vibe in there and our waiter was fantastic, but it's a bit overpriced as the quality of the sushi is average (by NYC standards - i.e.e high)"

  • "Went for lunch with some work colleagues. Most ordered the boxed lunch. Lots of food. Good tasting. The only disappointment was that we were offered green tea and then charged $3 each for it. Overpriced and deceptive in that we thought it came with the meal the way they asked. Otherwise, good lunch place."

  • "Was perfect for our get together. We were able to have lots of laughs, delicious food, and great service. Only bad thing was that they do not provide comp tea refills, which most Japanese restaurants offer."

  • "I have been to this place many times.; both with a big group from work and lunch date with another friend. I love the sushi there. The fish is fresh. I considered it the best in the FIDI. I never tried their cooked food but others seem to like it a lot too. I won't recommend anyone to get their desserts. They suck, even the waiters/waitresses know. It is nonetheless a nice place for lunch. "

  • "Not too loud, good quality food, and prompt service made our dinner at Haru very conducive to a casual business dinner."

  • "Haru is located just around the corner from my day job, so it is very convenient for lunch. There is a good selection of lunch specials that includes Sushi, Teriyaki and other combination lunch boxes and they are all priced at $20 or less, so it is a lot of food for a good price. The food is consistently delicious as well. The decor is also warm and has an upscale feel, which I enjoy. Recommended for when you have time for more than just a quick bite for a business lunch."

  • "Waiter was too aggressive in pushing appetizers, we didn't want any but he asked about 3-4 times regardless. Otherwise food very good."

  • "Haru is very near my home. We were going for a coupon I received for a dinner for 2 with 1 wine and 1 deseert. However that menu was very limited. So we opted for Happy hour at the bar and that is always good. The apps are very good and the specialty drinks are pretty good as well. It is crowded but it is a nice time."

  • "The ambience and décor is amazing. We had an amazing 2-for-1 deal- Perfect for a birthday kick-off or girl's night out!"

  • "Good food but over-priced for what you get. Atmosphere is very noisy- could use more sound-deadening design."

  • "decent, in the context of it being in the financial district. wait staff average and quite surly, but all fine."

  • "Good sushi place in a sea of stuffy "bro" steak houses."

  • "I always go to Haru around this time for my birthday. The Salmon on top of noodles with a side of rice is my go to dish but they have amazing sushi that you can grub on at the chef's table. The space is really great and there's seating everywhere. You see a lot of power lunches taking place in there, as well as some family luncheons. The waiters are super polite and always on call. I would recommend this place for just about anything if you're in the FiDI district."

  • "Consistently excellent sushi every time I go. The specialty rolls are great especially the Strawberry roll. They have a great saki list as well."

  • "I've been twice to this restaurant and was very disappointed the second time. We got there at exactly noon and the place was relatively uncrowded. The music-sort of a very upbeat dance tune--was quite loud. We mentioned it to the hostess and her response was "it's just because it isn't crowded yet." So, because the space is high with lots of hard surfaces, the crowd plus the music drove noise levels up as the lunch crowd arrived. the food is okay but could be lots better. The shredded vegetable tempura in the lunch box was like a very greasy potato latke. Not at all light and crisp, more like greasy and sodden. The tofu teriyaki needed more seasoning. And we had to practically beg for tea."

  • "I made a last-minute decision for a quick visit to NYC. I wanted to find an Asian restaurant (it didn't have to be sushi) for dinner in the Financial District near where I was staying. So I went to Open Table, and was thrilled to see Haru come up. I'd heard good things about it, and was hopeful to get a reservation. Unfortunately, I was only given two options: 5:30 or 8:30. Given my other plans for the evening, 8:30 was too late, so I went with the 5:30 reservation. The food was great, the service was attentive, but guess what: at 6pm, 6:30pm, 7pm and 7:30 (when we finally left) there were MANY tables available. I don't know why there were NO tables available on OpenTable at those times, and the staff couldn't tell me why either."

  • "Great lunch specials. One of the best dining options in the Financial District. Service is often spotty -- there are a handful of excellent servers, the rest aren't especially attentive."

  • "Me and a friend enjoyed the atmosphere and the service by our waiter was very professional and courteous. The waiter was very knowlegable on the types of fish and wine seclection that was on the menu for that day. The price was very affordable and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have lunch in the Wall St area."

  • "The only area that I had a slight issue with was that it was chilly. Although they had small heaters on the shelf near the table, it was good for the person who was seating near the heater. I had to wear my scarf. I go there often. The food is wonderful!"

  • "Rushed, inattentive and uncommunicative service knocks Haru's Wall Street location down a few notches, and hurts even more when you see the prices they charge even for lunch. While the quality of the fish itself is good, the lousy service and hyperinflated prices don't justify visiting this place if you can get decent sushi elsewhere."

  • "wether it be for a nice night out, a quick run for sushi, a good lunch for clients or coworkers, this place delivers. Not the cheapest option for sushi or drinks around so maybe not a weekly event, but it is consistent and has quality food, drink and atmosphere."

  • "Very busy and bustling during lunch. Great and fresh sushi. Just the perfect complement to a stressful workday!"

  • "What a surprise to find a really good Japanese fusion restaurant close by. The food was excellent and substantial and at a very reasonable price, I liked the decor although the music was a bit overpowering for my taste. I would absolutely go bacjk and would also strongly recommend"

  • "I dined at Haru for lunch with three co-workers for a special occasion, but we still had to get back to our desks within the confines of, say, an 80 minute window. Our server, Dennis, was friendly, quick and efficient. Our lunches were all delicious (we had items from the special lunch menu ranging from the Salmon Teriyaki lunch box to the Chicken Katsu to Tempura) and the bill was very reasonable. Haru is a good choice for a quick and delicious sit down lunch in the Wall Street area."

  • "Have been here a few times with colleagues for lunch. The food is always good and the prices are reasonable for downtown Manhattan. Although it's not mandatory, I would recommend having a reservation if you plan to go during the busy lunch hours."

  • "Overall a great lunch place. Came here with my colleagues during lunch rush. They were really busy so make sure you have a reservation. The food took a while to get out so don't come here if you only have an hour. Server was good, he kept walking by to ensure he refilled water and took empty plates out of our way when finished. Will come back again. Sushi was fresh. :)"
