  • "It had awesome specialty rools and great sushi. Service was attentive and sincere. HOWEVER... Tempura was a disappointment. There are two types of tempura dough. One-to be eaten as tempura or used in nabeyaki. These a light flaky easy to crack and crisp. Then there is the one used for rolls which are less crispy and more doughy. TOP Japanese restaurants should make a different batter depending on the use."

  • "Love the fact that they have traditional rolls but when you incorporate it with their own signature style of sushi, i.e spicy titanic roll along with spicy crab caviar roll, unlike no other. Hands down my absolute favorite. Definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to take a bit on a the wild side of amazing sushi."

  • "Had a $15 lobster roll for lunch which was not impressive at all; it was dry and bland. Two of the 8 pieces were pretty much just filled with lettuce. My friends had the Roll Combo, which had a tuna roll, california roll and salmon avocado roll and they enjoyed it. Those looked way more appetizing. "

I have seen no Con Ed trucks in the vicinity. Seems very odd. This restaurant is off my recommended list until it straightens out its problems."

  • "fantastic seafood spicy soup, always great....often have to order what you want and explain it because not everything possible is on the menu. example, i wanted a crunchy spicy tuna roll but it's only on menu for some stupid reason as spicy crunchy SALMON roll....glad i asked. the regular spicy tuna roll is awful mushy texture. everything is fresh. always. quality isn't an issue so if they could just work out the consistently irritating misses, then the ways they are a hit would bring me back more often. pretty waterfall cascading flat on the entry glasspane is soothing. it's LOUD, though, so don't bring business clients here if you want to actually talk, god forbid. the hostess staff is everchanging, too, but usually nice."

  • "As part of Haru's "Access" membership, I received a voucher for $40 dinner for two including a bottle of wine, appetizer, two entrees and dessert. This was such a great deal! The food was delicious and our waitress was great. Unfortunately that night the gas was not working so we could not order anything that needed grilling, but there were still many great options. The King Crab dumplings were delicious, and the sushi entrees were pretty generous in size considering the great price deal. Will definitely be back!"

  • "my friend and I had a late dinner at Haru on Saturday night and as usual had an amazing time. There was an issue in their kitchen so they did not have all of their usual hot entrées available - - nevertheless the sushi was outstanding! The wait staff very attentive without being overbearing"

  • "When we arrived, we were told that there was a gas leak in the kitchen and there would be no hot food served. We were shocked that they would be open for business. The restaurant was not crowded, maybe about 10 people dining, yet it took 30 minutes for our first appetizer to arrive and it was a sobu salad. Then, we had to ask for our drinks which were so diluted we couldn't even taste the alcohol. We finally got our entrees another 20 minutes later. We had the slowest service of all times, average food quality, cheap quality cocktails but at Park Ave prices. And not to mention having been put at risk during the gas leak."

  • "I chose Haru during restaurant week because they had a great looking lunch menu! When I got there, I was told there was a gas leak through the building so they couldn't use their grills or fryers. This obviously deleted about half the items on the menu, which was my first disappointment. I decided to order off of the regular menu and was pretty excited about the price i was getting for 3 rolls! Once my food came, I realized I was getting what I was paying for. The fish tasted like it had gone off. Not to mention, it was some of the ugliest sushi rolls I've ever seen. My Wasabi had rice in it. I've never had this before at a Sushi restaurant, so it made me think they just scraped the Wasabi off of someone else's plate and put it on to mine."

  • "So we went to Haru for restaurant week lunch.....I would not go back. The sushi was fair, at best. But what really upset me what the "tip guidance" at the bottom of the check. It is not unusual for restaurants to do this today, to show you what 15, 18 & 20% tips total, but, in this case, the numbers were wrong. In fact the 15% amount, was really 20% and so on. I found that to be simply unacceptable. So even if the food was wonderful, which it wasn't, I would not go back here again."

  • "I selected Haru based on the menu. But when we arrived, we were informed that due to a gas main break several days prior, most of the menu was not available. Only 2 appetizers and 2 entrees (basically sushi/specialty rolls). Mochi/ice cream was substituted for the desserts. The food & service was good, & portions were large. But for a restaurant that spepializes in sushi, I was surprised at the large size of sushi & specualty roll pieces. They should have been bite size, but were so large you had to struggle to eat them. That being said, I had the specialty rolls, and they were delicious. Had I know about the limited menu in advance, I would not have selected Haru. But I would consider going back when they are fully operational."

  • "This was my first time eating at Haru and it was specifically to take advantage of the RW menu. When we arrived we were seated promptly. We were disappointed to find, however, that they did not have any "hot items" available, eliminating about half of the RW menu. Sushi was good quality fish but rolls were nothing special and the appetizers incuding the crab dumplings and sushi tacos were bland."

  • "When I arrived at Haru on Tuesday, Feb. 25th 2014 at 1:00 I was informed by the restaurant that they were not having restaurant due to a gas problem. They were only serving sushi and no hot appetizers or entrees. My friend and I said thank you and we proceeded to SushiSamba where they were offering the restaurant week menu. The lunch menu was wonderful. We enjoyed the sushi entrée that we both had. I would highly recommend SushiSamba. I have eaten here before and I have always had a great experience dining there. Of course I did not get my 100 points since I did not dine at Haru. I hope to in the future."

  • "Overall experience was really nice. Went a little earlier than the reserved time but got our seats in less than 5 minutes. Waitress was really nice and helpful. Food was amazing. Courses came in good timing; after we were done eating one, the next one came in like 2-5 minutes. Allowed us to rest a little bit and talk until the next course. Would definitely recommend to others."

  • "I took there friend from europe visiting NYC. They sat us next to restrooms. I asked to change it. It was 7pm so there were many empthy tables but they said they were full. Those tables were available even when we were done."
