I gave the wife and the family a surprise with a fine dinning experience at The Hart House. It was amazing! We'll return, the service and ambience is first class. The food was superb and they even acommodate some changes we requested to the menu due some alergic restrictions in our party. It was our first time there and it has become now one of our favourites! We loved the food, from the pasta to the red snapper. Kudos to the chef! You can tell all are working as a team and are attentive and make sure you leave as a satisfied customer that can't wait to come back. Great experience!

We love good food and live in the area and good fine dining choices are very slim. It's been awhile since we have been to the Hart House - I have always loved the setting but the Chef's have come and gone and have ranged from good to mediocre. So it was a welcome discovery that they currently have an excellent chef on board. We both enjoyed our dinners very much. The service has always been very professional and the old mansion charm is unique and enchanting - the lighting could be dialed down a bit- too bright to call it romantic. I would highly reccomend Hart House once again - and hope to return soon.

I have been going to the Hart house for over 5 years and have never been disappointed by either the ever changing menu options, the great pairing options brought to our attention by the wonderful wait staff at the house specifically by Ian has always made our visits outstanding. Going to the Hart House is more than a meal, more than just a restaurant it's an experience that everyone should try again and again. Thank you Hart house for being that rare consistent gem in a sea of mediocre restaurants, and never ceasing to impress me with your Food, Staff and great attitude.

We had dinner at the Hart House 2 nights in a row and both nights the group of 4 of us placed all the decisions in the hands of the Chef......and Edwin made sure our wine selection pared with the food. It was very good and we got to experience and share a good section of the fabulous menu! Well done Hart House!

The meal at Hart House was incredibly different from a typical "heap you own plate" family dinner. Everything was well proportioned to fill but not stuff and the flavours were balanced, seasonal and executed with beauty and charm. We had a bottle of Chardonnay to compliment and it was lovely. Wine list had great choices with several price levels. Front of house was knowledgeable, courteous and well trained.

My girlfriend and I visited Hart House to celebrate her birthday with a nice dinner. The food we had was excellent, and my girlfriend even commented on the Surf and Turf appetizer we shared, saying, "these are the best mussels I've ever had." The staff was very polite, and our server was also knowledgeable about each dish and wine he served us. We had gone on a Tuesday evening, so the place was empty save for two other couples and one group of four. Although, I'm sure it isn't always that quiet, if you're looking for that sort of setting with this kind of dining, a weeknight might do it for you.

We decided to come to the Hart House for our 2nd year anniversary, and everything about it was quaint and lovely, with tons of character! Just a bit of a criticism with a couple of the dishes, the chicken was delicious with a very tasty exterior, but for the sauce and side, it almost feels like they took a full can of beans and poured it around the chicken. I usually have no problem finishing my place, but the sheer amount of beans felt like a bit of overkill. The same thing happened with the pork belly, as it was surrounded by an abundance of chickpeas. Otherwise, the food was good, but the service was really outstanding. I would love to try them out again some time!

My husband and I went here for dinner, we were seated in the sun room which had nice big windows looking out onto the grounds. The waiter didn't make us feel rushed at all and was very friendly. The food was delicious, my husband had the seared lamb and I had the beef tenderloin, both meals were done to perfection just like we had asked for. The wine list is extensive ranging from $35 a bottle to $500+ a bottle, we had the Babich Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough for $45 which was very nice. We could have used some more light from the candle on the table which was just a tea light in a dark holder, maybe a clear or white holder would be better to see. It was a relaxing & enjoyable evening, a wonderful place to go for a night out.

We had a great 1st anniversary dinner at the Hart House last sunday. We were married on the front lawn there one year ago and have always had our expectations surpassed with respect to the quality and creativity of the dishes there. Both our dining experience and wedding experiences were fantastic. A very quiet night but charming service, not overbearing. The price fixe menu is an absolute steal at $38 - the place should be absolutely packed at these prices.

Lost a star on "food" because the portions are not filling. I had an entre chicken salad--not enough food for an entre and the price. Lovely place to dine outdoors in the summer. Menu was all right, seems as though many of the entrees came with some weird side. Asked to swap out two proteins (fish for meat as I do not eat beef) and was told it was no possible. Everyone's palette is different. Raisins are for breakfast and dessert. Ended up ordering the dungeness crab spaghettini. Was over salty - too much pasta very little crab. Of - and corn in there too. Strange.

We went for dinner on a warm summer night in August recently. We sat out on the patio and the view of Deer Lake as the sun was setting was beautiful. A perfect location for a romantic dinner. There was a lovely prix fixe menu and my husband and I each chose different items so we could sample everything. He had the elk sirloin which was cooked to perfection as was my salmon. Desert was lovely, service was excellent. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

I like the Hart House because of it's atmosphere. Girlfriend loves it. Went for brunch on Sunday and she had the Benedict. Even though she did not get the prosciutto as promised on the menu (chef substituted back bacon) she still enjoyed it. Her only comment was that they did not garnish with fruit - it's summer! I had the Traditional with bacon and easy over eggs. Probably the worst brekky I have had in a long time. Toast was not toast, greasy eggs had a dark glob in one of them, fingerling potatoes were partially boiled. Talk about boring! I cook better breakfast at home. The Spanish coffee was really good and the bacon was crispy. Those were the two highlights.

We went on Saturday evening and there was a wedding wedding revenue going on by the lake; thus we got nice free wedding music. The servers were attentive. We ordered the prix fixe dinner. The price was pretty reasonable. The view by the deer lake was pretty good. The food was served in a reasonable of time. We had time to take photos of the lake and the food. The soup was thick and good taste. The San Daniele Prosciutto appetizer was refreshing. We were very full at the end. The only complain we would have was that one dish and knife were dirty; otherwise, it was a perfect night.

I just wish all restaurants would have my big 3's: great food, service and beautiful view. Hart House has 2 out of the 3, which isn't bad at all. The brunch I ordered was super tasty and the beautiful lake view was romantic to a hilt. Service could have been better. Our waiter wasn't very good but the guy that served us the water and bread was excellent. Wish he were our waiter instead so I hope he gets promoted. I never understood why the waiter would disappear for prolong period of time (15 mins), given that the restaurant wasn't all that busy (at least when I was there). I said please give me a couple of mins to decide on the drink order, not 20 mins later ... crazy. I wanted my order in before the big group placed their's.

The food was good, but it's the service that stood out in my mind. Our waiter, Ian, was attentive and entertaining. Our water glasses were never empty and he told short funny stories while he filled them. A great addition to our alfresco dining experience.
