Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Harry Carays for Easter Brunch. The food was outstanding and there was something for everyone. The server was very friendly. I would definitely go back for any special occasion. The cost was very reasonable for the amount of food and the champagne was included."

  • "Harry Caray's had an excellent Easter Brunch. Great selection of food and the deserts were awesome. Bananas Foster was especially good. "

  • "Happened to be picking up a business associate at O'Hare at 6:30PM, and was planning on going downtown for dinner - but the traffic was very heavy - so we booked a table on Open Table and went to Harry Caray's at Mannheim and Higgens, just a few minutes from O'Hare airport. We happened to be next to a large table, so the noise level was a bit loud, but the service and the food more than made up for it. The lamb chops were described by my friend as "the best I've ever had" and my NY Strip steak was done exactly as I requested, and it could not have been better. The house Cabernet was sweet and smooth. The service was attentive and considerate, and we did not feel rushed at all. A very good experience."

  • "We were expecting a bar type restaurant and were amazed by the the outstanding menu, service and attention. I was impressed that they had a gluten free menu as well. Our 14th wedding anniversary will be one we will remember"

  • "Harry's steak is consistently fantastic. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and checks back at the right times. Been there many times and will be returning again."

  • "The food is good, no question about that. The service was also attentive. However, the atmosphere is too casual and the tables are crowded and close to each other, and the decor is not tasteful enough for a steakhouse - so dropping $130+ (no drinks!) on a dinner for two people in a very, very casual setting is not what we expected when we made the reservation."

  • "The sommelier recommendation was spot on, and they dealt with a wine spill superbly. I'd bring a group at this restaurant again."

  • "First time dining here and had a great time. The food was excellent and service was on point. I would definitely come back."

  • "My wife wanted the wygu burger they have on the lunch menu for dinner but they could only make the burger on the menu. Our waiter gave us his name and when we were in town the next time to call ahead and they would make sure to special order it for her and have the supplies to make it. We really liked the extra service. The burger for the night was still delicious."

  • "I have eaetn dinner at this Harry Caray's multiple times. The food is always good, the servers are friendly. Its proximity to Allstate Arena makes this a good pre-event choice for a good meal at a decent price."

  • "This review is overdue -- made the mistake of trying to recreate the wonderful experience we had last year at Harry Caray's in Lombard but it was nothing like it. The service was awful, slow, we even complained to the manager about how long it was taking for food to come out and nothing was done. I'd never go back to that location, it's a shame, the food is wonderful but the service was just awful."

  • "Three of us had dinner on a Friday night, and 2 of us were observing meatless meals for Lent. The mustard glazed salmon and lemon sole were both superb -- and because the fish eaters among us were indecisive about which to order, our service offered to give us half servings of each. Very thoughtful and we took him up on it. Also, because we love bread, have to add that the bread and butter were terrific too. It's not that I was surprised that the food was good, because I have eaten here before, but I guess I was surprised that it was great. Also, everyone on the staff sends out a very friendly, unpretentious vibe. The bar, if you prefer it a little more casual, was hopping."

  • "we enjoyed our evening at Harry Caray's. the employees were courteous and though the restaurant was busy the noise level and service was good (we weren't sure what to expect on Valentine's weekend). The only thing we were disappointed in was the wine list was very expensive. there should be more variety for the lower budgets out there. We love a bottle of wine, but $50 took us by surprise. We felt eggplant and salmon dinners shouldn't have cost $130. It was a good location for us, so we went."

  • "The first time we went to Harry Carey's it was a last minute deal and they took us in without having to wait. It was my Daughter's birthday and we had a wonderful time. We went back again for my Son's birthday and had the same great service and great food."

  • "The Food was moderate. I think there are many other great steak houses in Chicago I would rather go to..... The bar area was very busy and would be a good place to meet friends or colleagues."

  • "We had never been to this restaurant before. Our server Shelly, was fantastic! Very attentive, able to describe sauces in detail (we have a dairy allergy in the group), even offered alternative options to accommodate the allergy. I would highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Restaurant was great, service could have been better but it was very far from inadequate. the food was very good, and hit expectation of being a typical steakhouse, with great white linen tablecloth, bussers were very attentive. Be careful when ordering the temperature of your food I think they cooked items over one level than normal. (medium well was well done and medium = medium well). Bar and wine selections were quite good. the sides were tasty."

  • "We always enjoy this place. They obviously treat their staff right because we've seen the same servers there for years. They are very good - checking in periodically and knowledgeable. On this most recent visit, the pasta special with lobster and mussels sounded great, but I was in the mood for a steak. Thankfully, the chef had no problem making up a half order as my appetizer. I had the 12 oz filet; my wife had the 12 oz. NY strip. Both excellent."

  • "Went to Harry Caray's as part of a business lunch with three colleagues. We were greeted right away and fulfilled our lunch reservation without delay or complication. The restaurant was quite full at lunch which is a good sign that it has good food and reputation. Two of us had the soup of the day; chicken tortilla. It was very tasty. Another had the calamari which was delicious. Our entrees followed soon after and everyone enjoyed their meal. Was a very pleasant experience and would return on my next trick to the area."

  • "Had a working lunch this week in the bard area. It was my first visit to Harry Carey's Rosemont and we were well taken care of. We could talk and hear each other without a problem and the waitress provided service in a way not to interrupt. The salads we order were very flavorful and light enough not to interfere with the business purpose of the meeting."

  • "Because of the sportson the TV we eat in the bar. After being seated the waitress completely forgot about us. It had to be 15 minutes before I finally got up and approached her at the bar to ask her if take our drink order. And I did this when she was talking to the manager. After that I saw the manager talking to her. I actually have no complaint with her. She is human and forgot us. That can happen and after that she was great. However, IMO the manager should have bought us that drink. He didnt. For food, the tomato bisque soup and wedge salad were great. I had chicken vesuvio and my wife had a burger. Very good. To end the evening the power went out. So we finished by candelight. All and all a decent meal and an interesting evening."
