Diner Reviews
  • "Fabulous food, over the top service, classic. Don't go to Chicago and not dine at Harry Carey's :)"

  • "A steady place to eat a steak. Expensive like all of the Chicago Steakhouses, but not over the top. Good tasting ribeye. Wine list is solid, but out of date if you know your wine. Service is ok, but for the amount of the tip off the bill, would expect more."

  • "The men said the prime rib was very good and reasonably priced. The Italian dishes we ordered were very good! The service was great. We enjoyed the atmosphere. We would definitely recommend Harry Caray's!"

  • "The food and service here was excellent. My only suggestion would be to slow it down a bit. Everything came out so fast and it would have been better to have time in between courses."

  • "I was expecting to have a great meal as I had eaten their on a business trip in the past. However this time I was with my wife and we were celebrating our 29th anniversary with an impromptu trip to Chicago for the weekend. I had commented on the Open Table form when making the reservation about celebrating our anniversary. It was very nice that from the moment we walked in everyone we came into contact with wished us a happy anniversary. Now for the food....the wedge salad was as good as I have ever had, very fresh, well proportioned and delicious. The bread was nothing special, nor was the butter but it was good. As for the steak we each had the 12 oz dry aged which was outstanding, perfectly prepared and seasoned. Pricey, but excellent."

  • "We had been awake for 20 hours and we needed some comfort food and good drink. The food was mostly very good but I had a dry aged Rib Eye that did not live up to the hype it was good and should have been great. Everything else Pasta burgers and appetizers were all great. We will I go back."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Just average steak, tasteless prime rib, rude waiter. Just go for drinks to see the baseball memorabilia, skip the food. We were disappointed."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "This is by far thebest steak I have ever had and I have had enough to compare. The char was perfect on the outside and the cooking temperature was perfect on the inside for both my husband and I. The sides were perfect for sharing which made the dining more sociable. The wine and drinks menu was impressive as well as the bread and butter. That is how good the food was. I am reviewing the bread and butter. Definitely recommend anyone to eat here."

  • "The food at Harry Caray's is excellent; very tasty and great portions. I never leave feeling as though I'm still hungry. I usually have leftovers which are great! Love all the memorabilia. Service is also great! Thank you."

  • "The food was very good. We had lamb, fish, and filet mignon at our table and all were great. Service was very good too. The wine was good and reasonable. The only slight complaint is very tight table placement and noisy setting for a table of four."

  • "This was our first visit to Harry Caray's. We came for the baseball memorabilia, the steaks and the wine list. The steaks were wonderful (and huge), and the wine list was excellent, but it took about 30 minutes for us to get the first bottle. That delay, and the noise level, were a big turn-off. And although there was a lot of memorabilia decorating the walls, it was difficult to enjoy because other diners' tables lined the walls, too, blocking the view. Don't come for a romantic evening or for first rate service, but do come for the great steaks, and for the large variety of well priced high-end wines."

  • "Very noisy, extremely cramped, good service, ok food"

  • "The food was amazing here as always. Every time we go to Chicago we eat at Harry Caray's and it never disappoints. Pasta is fresh and really good, and the steaks are always juicy and cooked perfectly. Nice cozy atmosphere, good service. Definitely recommend."

  • "This place has been around a long time for a reason - sure, its pricey, but you get what you pay for. Great wines, great beers, great steaks, and even some non-land animals for vega-pesca-tarians out these. You can't go wrong - everything is good and served hot (not warm, not lukewarm - hot) - which means your dinner will be perfect. Take some time to note all the sports memorabilia and relive the Chicago Glory days when the Cubs won the pennant...although you have to go back a while. Sometimes celebrities are there - Jay Cutler was at a table on the night I was there - should have brought his offensive line with them so maybe they would bulk up and give him some additional protection this year - overall, a great place!"

  • "The room is well lighted and the menu provides many choices - from light fare to full meal. Service was attentive and not intrusive. Bill was brought without prompting which is helpful when trying to exit to get back to work."

  • "As my wife and I are baseball fans, and I am a food fan, we really looked forward to eating here on our recent baseball-specific trip to Chicago. I can say that the surroundings were great, baseball, baseball and more baseball! Nice character throughout the establishment. I am glad we made a reservation as it filled up shortly after we arrived. The food was wonderful. The 18oz dry-aged blue cheese encrusted ribeye was great. The service was nearly perfect. Very attentive and friendly - however, we did feel rushed and that is the only mark against an otherwise dream dinner."

  • "Our reservation was honored instantly. There were several families waiting and we were seated immediately. It was my wife's birthday and we both ordered the dry aged strip ... medium. OMG Amazing steak. Worth the price. Both our children were treated care also ... not ignored. They even brought out a piece of Key Lime Pie also with a bit of Harry Caray "It's out of here!" It is pricey, but you know that going in to the place. We visit every couple of years and Harry's is a must stop. We flew in for my wife's birthday and this was her only request. "We have to eat at Harry Caray's""

  • "Started with a drink in the bar. Loud, drunk groups. Bartender ignored us. Asked what we wanted from down the bar Asked what they pour for call vodka? She said nothing I would finally got our drinks. But no homemade chips? Oh well. Then a couple sits down next to us. Bam the bartenders was right there bam they get drinks. Bam they get chips. Then she comes over looks at us a pulls a bowl of chips out from under the counter. I guess she wasn't sure if we were good enough? That's it. I'm done! How much - $21 for two drinks. What's wrong she said. I wonder!! Dinner service was very good. We got drinks and food very quickly. Shrimp cocktail and meatball apps were very good. Steak was good. Dessert was very good - key lime pie. Lots of. "

  • "I was less than impressed. I waiting 20 minutes past my reservation for a table for 1. I ordered 2 items and waiting an extra 20 min. I never received a refill on my drink and my waiter on checked in one time. Food was OK but not off the charts. Not worth the wait until nearly 9 pm for dinner after a long day. Next time room service "

  • "We live out of town & whenever we come to Chicago we never leave without going to Harry Caray's. We have done this ever since 1994 & we have always had an amazing experience, this time was no different. If you come to Chicago do not leave without experiencing Harry Caray's you will not be disappointed."

  • "Our experience this time was a little disappointing because of the service. Pacing was terrible. Entrees came out half way through the starters and the runner was going to just move our salad plates aside to set them there. Had to ask them to let is finish before setting. Server seemed really disinterested or bored. Never asked if we wanted a second drink. Great as it saved us a few bucks, but strange just the same. It just felt like they wanted to turn the table over more than for us to really enjoy a meal. Love the food and have been numerous times over the years when in town, but will probably be going elsewhere from now on. "
