Diner Reviews
  • "We had made reservations for a Sunday evening. We liked it so much that we cancelled our Monday plans and returned to Harrisons. The place has a lovely charm that works for both casual and romantic. Price Wise it was more than fair. I cant tell you how stuffed we were leaving. Expecting the typical tiny appetizers found outside chains our eyes nearly fell out while witnessing the size of the appetizers and realizing we still had a salad, entrees, and drink ahead. The staff was attentive without being overbearing and very friendly. We went during the off-season (mid-april) and it was still full if not packed with people waiting. I would recommend reservations, which can be done in less than a minute from a smartphone."

  • "We were promptly seated for 8:00 reservations. The small space was full (about 15 tables & 18 bar seats). Harrison's is on a lower level w/ no windows. Considering the lack of natural light, the atmosphere is pleasant. The waiter was fine, not bad, not great. He may have been the only server. He forgot our sparkling water... Since only one if us had a cocktail, the other went thirsty until we reminded him. The food was well prepared and fresh. It could have been warmer when delivered. The appetizer was large; the dinners small. Dessert was the highlight... Fluffy cheesecake w/ caramel & Heath bar (supposedly the last piece). All in all, a nice time, but given it's stellar reputation, Harrison's could use some tweaking."

  • "On our annual ski trip to Stowe my wife and I always visit Harrison's! Even on this late-March Sunday evening the retaurant was busy. I was glad I had made a reservation, although we could have always found seating at the bar. Harrison's has a comfortable, friendly ambiance and a freindly waitstaff. I enjoy the local craft beer choices and my wife discovered a new favorite wine. We started with the unique beet napoleon salad. My wife chose trout, a daily special, and I chose pork medalions from the regular menu. Each were well preapared, seasoned and complemented by potato and vegetable sides. Harrison's has kept us happy and returning year after year!"

  • "As always, Harrison's delivers a terrific meal in a charming setting. I always have the Apple Cider Chicken. We had fresh salads and the dessert, chocolate caramell ice cream with sea salt was to die for. The red zifandel was great. Harrison's is our favorite restaurant in Stowe."

  • "Love the rustic atmosphere that you would expect in the town of Stowe. The menu has just enough choices for you to appreciate the fine dishes served here. Same can be said of the wine list. Comfortable seating and service. An all around great restaurant!!"

  • "The menu was diverse enough for everyone to find something. Ambience warm, cozy, and inviting. Wonderful service, thoughful suggestions. Overall, we had a great experience. We visitied with an infant and 7 year old, which were more than welcome. Also, saw a small group of 6 and several tables of 3 - 4 people. Great location for any occassion. The food was delicious. We had to send back the brie platter and it was taken off our bill. That was the only hiccup."

  • "Harrison's was an incredible place to eat. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the food we had was perfectly cooked. The meals were proportioned correctly and i can honestly say that both my boyfriend and i declared it as some of the best food we had ever had. I will be going back there for sure. Oh, and their chocolate decadence cake was to die for. :)"

  • "We LOVE Harrison's and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Their signature Maple Chicken dish was in a word, AMAZING. Hubby had the pumpkin ravioli and he also enjoyed his but we both agreed the Chicken entree was the winner. Shared the salad of the day which was also excellent and one order was plenty for sharing. Highly recommend Harrison's for a very nice dinner in Stowe."

  • "Always awesome. We love Harrison's! Only complaint is that it's hard to figure out what to eat as there are so many good options!"

  • "This was my second time in Stowe and my husband’s first. And since I had been to Harrison’s before and loved it, I thought he would too and he did. The Ahi taco appetizer was terrific. My ravioli dish was outstanding, my husband’s risotto was delicious and our teenage kid’s hamburger and steak tips meal was cooked just right. Desserts were tasty as well as the drinks. A neighbor gem and treat. Make a reservation though, it is quaint and comfortable and fills up fast."

  • "Harrison's is an excellent restaurant, with great food and drink. The service at the table was superb. Only one criticism. We had a table reserved, yet when we arrived we had to wait about 20 minutes. There were a number of other people in the same position. This made for a crowd of people standing up in the restaurant (no space at the bar - also full of people eating!). This isn't a big deal, it can happen that a number of tables take longer than expected, I just hope it's not policy to get more people through in a night. On the positive side, there was no attempt to rush us once we were sat down. In summary, go to this restaurant, once sat down it is amazing."

  • "We had friends visiting from the UK and had a meal at Harrisons on their last night in town. We've eaten there before so were pretty sure we'd get a great meal. However, although everything was fine, (service and food OK), it fell short of expectations. One of the meals in particular was partly inedible. The fries were re-heated, burnt, fatty and soggy. We probably should have said something but it's kind of embarrassing when you are hosting friends. It won't put us of going again, just a shame it didn't live up to expectations."

  • "Service was a little slow to get going but picked up once we ordered. Place is very small and tightly packed but in a fun, funky way. Food was good. Clam chowder was classic New England and delicious. Chicken piccata was ok-- not pounded this but just a chicken breast with piccata sauce. Sweet potato salad delicious and different. Squash ravioli good but I wouldn't necessarily order it again. We would go back because we enjoyed the whole experience and atmosphere ."

  • "This restaurant is not good for steaks. I ordered two: one Filet Mignon for my wife and one Grilled Rib eye steak for me, both cooked medium. The file was over cooked and dry - tasteless. The rib-eye was a litle bit better."

  • "I had pork tenderloin the first night and my husband had salmon. We decided to dine there our last night as well, we both had the Char special as recommended by someone staying at the same Inn as us. My husband and I both enjoyed our meals with everything cooked just perfect with a nice mix of flavors in the dishes. I asked them if they would give us a sample of the battered haddock as an appetizer and they were very nice about it. The batter was not greasy at all like most battered fish tends to be. The crab cakes were nice with a light crunch and yummy sauce. We plan on going back our next visit to Stowe. What a nice time."

  • "My wife and I had eaten here before and enjoyed it. The service was consistent and good this time but the dinner was not at all memorable. I had the Ahi Tuna which was bland and lacked character. My wife had the steak tips which were ok but again lacked real flavor. There are several restaurants in and around Stowe we would recommend before this one."

  • "We were looking for highly recommended food and found this location. They were extremely accommodating to our request for a quiet table. We loved our dinners which were the chicken piccata and the shrimp tacos. We both had a salad in which the beat and goat cheese salad was to die for. I would recommend this resturant and will be returning again. Very quaint and personal service."

  • "The food was great. The place is very small, so with two kids that's always a concern. But the staff was very nice and the food made everyone (young and old) very happy. My husband especially loved the mussels."

  • "We had dinner for Valentine's Day and we sat right down as soon as we arrived for our reservation. It's a very quaint restaurant, located down an alleyway, with a nice fireplace. The food was very good, a lot of choices, and the drink menu was also vast. I would definitely go back."

  • "Late dinner after full day of skiing with my 19 year old son. Nice atmosphere but not very friendly reception. Good mussel appetizer but special menu entree of grilled barramundi was disastrous, essentially raw, chewy and unedible. Waiter, who was understanding, took the dish off the bill but not really the point, expected to end day with good food - very disappointed in poor execution of a today's special!"

  • "filet mignon and ahi tuna entrees excellent! great bar great service. a must try when in Stowe. also check out The Whip restaurant across the street. Loved both places, went back and forth to both for lunch and dinner. All others in Stowe pale in comparison to these 2 restaurants. so glad they are neighbors!"

  • "Reservations necessary. We dine at Harrison's,at least twice, while skiing at Stowe. My favorite is shrimp taco. Salads and drinks come highly recommended. A little difficult to find since it is in a basement."

  • "The experience was perfect from start to finish. Salads, soup, the lobster risotto, butternut squash ravioli were delicious and beautifully presented. Our server was attentive but we were not rushed. Dessert and coffee topped the meal. This will be a "must" for us whenever we're in Stowe."

  • "When I made the reservation I asked for a quiet, romantic table for my birthday and was very happy. We were seated right in front of the fireplace. The server was great and even brought the drink menu back to the table when I asked what was in the Smuggler Martini. The Caesar salad was great and the salmon melted in my mouth. We definitely will dine here again!"
