In our lounge we have live jazz nightly.

  • "Three of us went for a very special dinner the other evening, and Harris' delivered. The steak tartare was perfectly seasoned and delicious, and the oysters were outstanding and served with three choices of dressings. Each of our steaks were prepared to perfection, the scalloped potatoes were some of the best we have had, and the creamed spinach and mushrooms were the ideal accompaniment to our meals. The two desserts we shared were also excellent. As good as the food, so was the friendly service. Frederico and We, 18 years and 30 years in the employ of Harris' respectively, were professional, knowledgeable and very personable. We will definitely be back!"

The bar was delightful and felt old world while a small group played jazz music. There were four of us in our party and we all ordered different cuts of meat. Each of us was thoroughly happy with the cut, quality and preparation. We mustn't wait so long to return to this wonderful gem of a restaurant."

The seafood is always fresh and the beef is tender and perfectly cooked every time. It has a little bit of old fashioned service and style, but when it comes to a steak house I like the suits and dressed up feel. We have never had a bad meal at Harris' and come here again and again."

  • "We were seated right away as we were on time for our reservations. The wine manager was knowledgeable, energetic, and efficient. The waiter was disinterested or more focused on the task of getting our order as opposed to why we were there that evening. The serving assistants were on the ball and fun! We both ordered steaks and they were very dry. Waiter asked us if everything was done to our liking, however never stayed long enough for us to respond. Didn't bother to follow up later in the meal! We had to wave the waiter down in order for him to bring the check. We spoke to the wine manager telling him of our disappointment in our experience. He apologized and ask that we give them another try. No thanks. Disappointing!"

  • "Harris is well known for its traditional seasoned beef which was, as usual, superb. What I love most is the traditional English decor and ambience. It's classic and classy, yet the leather booths are so comfortable that it is also very relaxed. The service while attentive is not hovering or rushed which adds to the comfort. It is very hard to find these traditional restaurants in America, so we really appreciate our special evenings at Harris."

  • "My wife and I celebrated my 74th birthday at the restaurant after a most enjoyable day in The City. We could not have found a more appropriate restaurant for the occasion. From appetizer to dessert, it was a feast for the eyes, nose and mouth. And in a setting with piano in the background, it made a memorable evening. I must say as well that Nick, our waiter, was a wonderful addition to the evening. He was completely professional, unobtrusive but as engaging as we wished. Consequently, we had a most pleasant experience with a very knowledgeable, humorous and helpful fellow. He added greatly to the experience."

  • "The experience was a little lacking for a fine steakhouse. I will say the waiter and service were outstanding. Our Sommelier's experience with Malbec wine was limited, but with that said his recommendation was a good call. The prime rib was very good and cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the lobster and even though it was a good size, it was over-cooked and chewy, not what I'd expect from a high end restaurant. Over-all experience was good, and if you're looking for a good dry-aged piece of meat, this is the place. I'll be staying away from the seafood."

It's almost as if as soon as the waiter realized we weren't going to order an expensive bottle of wine, he forgot about us completely, except to deliver our food, which was good, but not great. This may be a San Francisco institution, but there are about 10 other places I'd rather drop that kind of money to celebrate a birthday and feel welcome."
