Located in the heart of Downtown Suffolk, Harper's Table offers an approachable and refined experience. hT has been crafted from a love for hospitality, food and wine. The food is inspired by the seasons and the South. Wonderfully spaced throughout with a cocktail area, main dining room, booth seating and private dining for up to 25 people. Design is accented with American lumber and a turn of the century mural discovered during renovations for the restaurant.Continued

  • "Have eaten at HT a number of times and besides two somewhat lackluster servers in the past, and one poor menu choice on my part, this is a superb (though costly) dining experience. It is definitely the best restaurant in Suffolk; better than its also over-priced and comparable eateries Vintage Tavern and The Chop House. So if you're willing to spend that amount of money, go to HT instead. Don't get me wrong, it's not exorbitant, and the craftsmanship makes it worth spending more for unique dishes that I've found often to be some of the best if not the best meals I've ever had. But, they could stand to come in price on a lot of the items."

  • "Our choices for the main event, oysters and quail, were delicious, and the side dishes were downright special. How do they get so much flavor in the greens? We tried spoon bread and corn bread and grits that were a revelation. Too full for a big finish we enjoyed blood orange sorbet in a pool of house made buttermilk. Another pleasant surprise. Wonderful ingredients, skillfully prepared, served by a waitstaff that was attentive and knowledgable."

  • "We have been fans of River Stone Chophouse and Vintage Tavern in Suffolk for a long time, but we knew we had to try Harper's Table since the prior chef and manager from Vintage Tavern opened it. And it did not disappoint! The fried oysters were the best we have ever had! The salads and entrees were delicious. Everything was so flavorful and cooked perfectly! We will definitely be heading back often despite it being a 30 mile drive from Norfolk!"

  • "We decided to celebrate our third anniversary at this restaurant after visiting one other time for my birthday. The food was excellent with the exception of the collards which were not to my husband's taste. The waitress substituted the grits without hesitation which more than made up for the first vegetable dish. We started with hush puppies and warm olives; the olives were a first for me. Both were tasty and cooked just right. The sorghum butter was a wonderful addition to the hush puppies. Entrees were the pork ribs and the catfish. Both were prepared just right and tasted wonderful. Unfortunately, neither one of us had room for dessert. The wine selection was good. We will definitely return to this local restaurant."

  • "Took my mom for her birthday dinner and Harper's Table did not disappoint! My second visit and her first - she loved it and we will both be back! Great food selections ... Mom had the oysters and I had the catfish - both were cooked to perfection. Heather was our server for the evening. She was very knowledgeable, pleasant, and accommodating. We hadn't planned on dessert but when she suggested the blood orange sorbet (made in-house), we had to try it .... amazing! A table-side visit by Harper topped off the night. Can hardly wait 'til we get to go again!!"

  • "I guess it was actually a pretty good experience. The cocktails were the better part of the night and the collards. Honestly the rest was just good. And I must say the portions were TOO small on the starters. the pork taco was 1/2 strip of bacon in a miniature tortilla with a slice of cucumber and 2 sluices of radish for 5.00? One deviled egg was 2.50 which would have been okay if it had afresh shaved truffle slice or something but it was like I make at home. The pork belly biscuit was also tiny with a thin slice of belly. Flavors were good but not memorable."

  • "The weather was horribly miserable.However the evening was salvaged by the pleasant wait staff and the ever smiling waitress that evening. She was there all the time making sure we are comfortable and had everything .The sweet potato soup was one the best I tasted. ,The bacon and the grape combination was just the right amount not to be overwhelming.My wifes Virginia salad was very well presented with the thin apple slices and just the right amount of dressing made it a good start.I had a medium rare flat iron steak cooked to perfection . Our waitress was just so pleasant as was the rest of the staff. Attentive but not obstrusive. All in all a great place to have when you need to bring your love one to special place."

  • "We visited Harper's Table in downtown Suffolk for the first time recently, and our experience was excellent. We began with the pimento cheese, and it was very good. We could have used a couple more crackers, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. We then moved on to the feature salad for myself (beets, arugula, goat cheese, pistachios, grapefruit) and the sweet potato apple soup for my husband. The salad was amazing with just the right combination of flavors. My husband liked his soup as well. For dinner, I had the scallops and my husband had the catfish. Both were cooked perfectly with excellent accompaniments. Excellent dining experience with too notch service. The beer selection was awesome as well."

  • "This is our second visit to Harpers Table; both times we ordered a round of the sweet potato pork belly biscuits to share, and they were delicious! Two men in our party ordered burgers, and although I never order a burger at an upscale restaurant, I had a bite of one, and it was excellent; the bun was beautiful and fragrant. I ordered the flat-iron steak medium rare, and it was perfectly cooked and flavorful; my friend ordered the catfish; she let me try a bite. It was the best catfish I had ever tasted. One more important note: HT buys local produce to serve in the restaurant; I like that, especially since we are gardeners and growers. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fun experience and excellent food."
