Harlan SocialGreat serviceThis was the first time I was at Harlan Social and it was worth it. The staff was friendly and the food was flavorful. My favorite part was the ambiance - it was a large space that felt cozy with the rustic decor. I can't wait to try it out during happy hour.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic dinners for all.Fantastic dinners for all. Our guest were very impressed. Even the vegetarian amongst us was served a delicious meal.
Service could not have been better. A place to be returned to over and over highly recommended .6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCasual chic hot spotHarlan Social is a rustic chic spot to meet some friends and have some great food. The shrimp tempura appetizer and tuna tartar are a great place to start, both very good. The scallop entree rivals my other favorite at Mediterraneo. It's a noisy bar scene if you want that, but separate dining area where the noise is subdued and controlled and you can have a romantic dinner or meet some friends out to chat and have great cocktails and wine.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMa must hitGreat place! The food was excellent and tastefully creative!
Service was top-notch. We will be back!
The burger, Mexican corn and cheesecake were outstanding!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSome of the food was reallySome of the food was really good, some of it very average. Overall very good though.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMdinner at harlanloved our waiter - food was delicious - nothing was a problem ... nice atmosphere ...would definitely go back and I've already recommended it to a few people!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcome new restaurant in StamfordKorean Fried Chicken was delicious! Prepare to get sticky fingers, you will not be able to eat this without using your fingers.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA LOCAL GEMWe cannot decide which was better: the menu or the service? The menu and food were outstanding. They had several options for lighter fare and small plates, as well as a special selection of mozzarella dishes which served us as an appetizer. The choices for main dishes were varied and the food was excellent. The service was superb, very attentive. You would not need to wait more than 30 seconds to get someone's attention. The noise level did go up as the restaurant filled to capacity. Nevertheless, a very attractive and airy decor. We noted the entree prices were more in the $20 - $35 range (rather than $30 - $50 as noted in the Open Table listing)5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner spotOverall, a great addition to the restaurant scene in Stamford. Great drinks and a great, diverse menu.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good, innovative menuWe really like this restaurant. It's upbeat, hip and the food is very good. We've eaten here about 4-5 times and have not been disappointed.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyable dining experience.Very enjoyable dining experience. The decor lends to trendy ambiance. We shared some small plates with cocktails which was a great way to start. Hummus was excellent as was the home-made potato chips with bue cheese and bacon. While pork chop and crab cakes, both delicious, were well portioned, the scallop entree was on the small portion size. A side order was needed to provide a more appropriate size meal. That dish should have had more of the side dish on the entree plate. So, while the food was delicious and well presented, portion size of the entrees could be more substantial. The donut dessert was just ok. The donut "holes" were very small so that the fried factor overwhelmed the flavor of the interior of the donut.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHarlan Social brings NYC hipHarlan Social brings NYC hip and inventive cuisine to Stamford. A new gem in town5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAn overall positive experienceOverall I was pleased with the experience at Harlan Social. Making a reservation online was easy, and when we arrived we were seated immediately. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived at 6:00 but began filling up as the meal went on. Dinner was served promptly and correctly, and everyone at the table enjoyed their entree. Desert was excellent as well. As a craft beer drinker I appreciated the local beers available. Our server lost some credibility with us in the way she responded to our concern about the very small portions on the cheese tray (4 people had to split 2 small chunks of blue cheese). Overall I would certainly recommend it & return.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI just found this winner !I have dined at Harlan Social 4 times in the past month. Never disappointed with the food. Original menu, creative and fresh. Love their chicken sandwich. Lightly fried. Try it. Whether you want a light bite, small plate or full dinner, they serve it.Service is mostly attentive, although one night we waited 45 minutes after dinner with our waiter no where in sight. I would definitely recommend this place !5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, abience of BertucciThis was my second time back and again the food was excellent. Everything we ordered was excellent, and I'd highly recommend the Chocolate Bar dessert. While the food is great, the ambience is loud and on par with a large chain style restaurant such as Cheese Cake factory or Bertuccis. Nothing wrong with that, just my two cents.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNice spot!Great to be able to get out to this newly revitalized neighborhood. Designers were spot on as they transitioned elements of design (brick, exposed heating ducts) from the older buildings left in the area. Food options are great, excellent looking menu. The wedge salad was presented beautifully, yet lacked the punch of flavor in the dressing you look for on a wedge. Cherry tomatoes were like candy. The succotash and Mac and cheese sides were divine and the homemade cavatelli with sausage were perfect. Definitely be back again.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNEW KID IN TOWNI was delighted to find this little gem in Stamford, open since August, which I just discovered. Service was excellent, attentive but not hovering. Menu was great, from light bites and delicious small plates of meats to cheeses, to full dinners. Everything was fresh and delicious . I would definitely return. Good summer place.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTry this new place in Stamford.Great new Stamford spot with the perfect menu. One can have a light plate of cheeses or meats, olives, etc. or opt or a heartier full dinner. The fried chicken sandwich is done perfectly, with a side of spicey mayo. Service was very good, attentive but not hovering. I will definitely return. Everyone in my party was happy.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, ambiance so soThe food is the best part of the experience, the ambiance not so much. The waiter told us the menu was new, and everything we ordered was excellent. We started with the octopuss and spicey tuna tartar for appetizers and both were five stars. The beet salad was very good - four stars. For entrees, we had crab cakes which were very good, but not as good as the seared sea scallops which were excellent (five stars). Desserts were also both five stars - the cheese cake and the chocolate candy bar.
While I would definitley recommend this place for the food, the ambiance is not the best. It is a large loud space, but the location is near a busy supermarket which is good if you need to pick up a gallon of milk after your meal.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo friends and I went forTwo friends and I went for Sunday brunch. They had heard the panini and the shortrib/egg sandwich were highly rated, so they tried those and were not disappointed. My omelette was moist and good. Since we went when they first opened, there were not a lot of people to wait on, but the service was still friendly but not pushy. We took awhile to order.
The only downside (and perhaps a feature) is the location. The large windows look out on the Fairway Market and its parking lot. Not scenic, but still a view.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were lucky enough to haveWe were lucky enough to have dinner at Lemon Grass last night on a visit to Syracuse. The food was marvelous, tasted like true Thai food that we have had in Thailand. The beer selection was top rate, decor lovely, service attentive and helpful and the desserts were over the top. The whole experience was outstanding! We will be back when next in the area.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb Tamarind Pork chop.Superb Tamarind Pork chop. Friendly service, although they forgot us sometimes. Had the restaurant been crowded it lkely would have become too noisy. Great for an early dinner.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a very good lunch there.Had a very good lunch there. Food featured unusual takes on usual fare, which I really liked.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMRandomly found this on opentableRandomly found this on opentable and came for brunch on Sunday. The space is sizable but not sparse. High ceiling with a wall of windows giving it good light. The service is excellent. We are given our preferred sears. Drinks are prompt. The portion size for our plates are appropriate. Not to big or small. Menu is varied with elements from different cuisines as far as I can tell. Our choices all turned out excellent. Will be back.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHot place to be in StamfordHot place to be in Stamford right now. Great ambience and food3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBest hamburger around... FoodBest hamburger around... Food great... Fun place all around.. Only negative... Can get quite costly with a couple of drinks, appetizers and main dishes @$140 for 2 ( and I had the burger)3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service! The staff were very accomadating.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMHarlan Social is one of theHarlan Social is one of the few restaurants in the newly redeveloped south end in downtown Stamford. It is located in a soaring, contempory setting that has plenty of room and has attracted a well-dressed, hip crowd. The food is surprisingly good, making for a fun combination of assets for a great dinner experience.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my daughter there forTook my daughter there for her birthday w/her 2 preschoolers &husband - Sunday brunch. We all loved the food, the kids enjoyed theirs, too, and we'll be going back. Not inexpensive, but worth the trip. Brunch = $128 incl. T&T for 4 adults, 1 4-yr old.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter one trip, we became regularsI'll be honest, we are very picky, and have had difficulty finding good restaurants since moving to CT from the West Coast. Harlan Social was a huge find, and we now visit on a weekly or semi-weekly basis. The food is great, and far tastier interesting than your typical restaurant fare in CT, without being in any way pretentious. Great food, great ingredients, and great drinks (the Devil Wears Nada is our favorite cocktail in the area, bar none). Also worth noting are the charcuterie and cheeses, and the wines by the glass, and virtually everything else on the menu. Highly recommend.2/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
