  • "First time diner, took clients for dinner. Very impressed with ambience, setting, service and food. Will be back for sure."

  • "Food was great. Service was really good. Our server looked like Burt Reynolds and made me want to watch smokey and the bandit when I got home."

  • "The hardware grill has some of the best food I've experienced. Simply excellent for the most part... I would have given it 5 stars for food but it fell short in one category on my entree... I ordered the Filet with bone marrow... The bone marrow bone seemed to be nothing more than aesthetics as the actual marrow simply tasted like charred "fat"... So, it was basically untouched. A waste of space on the plate, and I would have appreciated something else as a replacement option. The beef itself was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were very delicious, everything tied together was extremely good, it's really a shame about that "bone". The soup of yesterday (Tomato Bisque) was absolutely amazing, as was the Kobe Beef appetizer."

  • "Always a good choice for an evening out with your spouse. Food was very good although maybe not as cutting edge as some restaurants. Solid menu."

  • "I wanted to find an upscale restaurant in Edmonton that wasn't a steakhouse - I certainly found it! The Hardware Grill, while pricey, was absolutely worth every penny. It was a special night for my honey and I, and our experience was nothing short of fantastic! We had the scallops and risotto to start - both were perfectly seasoned and prepared. For the main, I had the hickory smoked duck and he had the tenderloin. The duck was exceptional, with a rich smoke flavour, cooked to perfection. The corn dumpling sides were a lovely change from potatoes! The tenderloin was to die for. As for dessert, he had the warm gingerbread cake (which I got none of!) and I had the profiteroles. Both were exquisite! An experience we'll definitely repeat!"

  • "This is a restaurant I would recommend if you want a fine dining experience. We were seated at a table were we had a great view of the kitchen. We were a foursome and we were able to have our conversation without a lot of noise. The service was very good, as our server was very friendly and attentive. You have to experience the food, it is awesome. The rack of lamb was done to perfection, and the sea bass was so delicious. Everything was good from the appetizers, to the entries, wine, and dessert. It was a lovely evening with our friends."

  • "A dinner with a long time friend - the food was good, and so was the service - I definitely would recommend this establishment"

  • "We tried several dishes (7), in each case they blended a variety of flavours that didn't really complement one another and were over powered with the richness of butter. Overall, we enjoyed the ambience and pace of service."

  • "First time at the restaurant. Great quality food, portions are "generous"! Wine list has some real gems on it. Would highly recommend you give Hardware Grill a try."

  • "I had wanted to go to the Hardware Grill for quite a while but never got around to it. A friend and I had been planning on having a nice dinner out to catch up so here was the chance. Suffice it to say I was not disappointed. The ambiance was great. Quiet. A feeling of privacy so we could talk without feeling like someone was at our elbows listening. We had the scallops. Perfection. Melt in your mouth. I had the duck breast my friend had the elk. Again both meals were amazing. We had the lava cakes for dessert. Again amazing. Service was excellent. Attentive but not overly so. When we left I was quite surprised how busy they were. There was no discernible noise level which was nice. I highly recommend this as a dining experience."

  • "Very fancy place.Excellent olive oil and complimentary 3 types of warm bread. Extremely comprehensive wine list .Something for all tastes and budgets. Beautiful venison and gnocchi appetizer. Veal not as good as salmon topped with rosti. Service very restrained and unobtrusive . Delightfull brownie and expresso ice-cream ,food top notch . More suited to a formal or special occasion type of place.Very large and spread out ,would be a good place for large groups ."

  • "Very nice meal, but not my style of restaurant to really feel comfortable in. 2nd time I've been to this restaurant to "pretentious" for me."

  • "...not for your every night out. But well worthwhile for a relaxing experience - expertly prepared and presented. Wine decanted from a beaker? What fun.....! Dinner for two with appies, entres, wine, dessert & tip $150+....Semi-dressy/casual."

  • "We have been at Hardware Grill many times before. Each time it is wonderful again. The staff is always attentive without being intrusive. The food is great without being pretentious. We had again a great evening with a really good meal from their "Dining Downtown Week" menu. We will be back!"

  • "The only thing I might change would be the menu. I have been to the Hardware grill many times over the years and I believe the menu is exactly the same as the first time I went. The food is always excellent but unfortunately it seems that the only way I can expand my menu selection is to go elsewhere."

  • "The ambiance is wonderfu. The noise level allows for conversation. Service is attentive. It's obvious that everyone wants you to have a good experience. The staff had some minor gaffs with being unfamiliar with the menu which surprised me. Minor issue. The food, however, is something I expected to be superior when it was not. Only one of us had a meal that we found to be quite good. Everyone else found the first course (the soup) quite average, their entrée sub-par with the exception of the potato-crusted salmon and the desserts which were all remarkable. I simply expect to do better than average given the reputation and the price point. I am not sure I'd return. I appreciate that I am the exception and most people have a lovely time."

  • "A lovely meal at the Hardware Grill for the Downtown Dining Week. Started with some delectable gnocchi in a venison ragu - highly seasoned, but quite addicting. The main course was a perfectly cooked (and very sizeable - bring your appetite!) veal chop. Topped off the meal with a liquid cheesecake; it was incredibly rich but the tangy lemon flavour balanced everything out. We had a lot of fun with the server, and our water glasses were always topped up. We've never been disappointed with the food or the service, and this time was no exception."

  • "Food was great and the restaurant is a very nice place to sit and enjoy a meal. However, the server had no class. As soon as he got his tip from us paying, he ignore you and avoids doing anything for you. My table simply wanted a little more water, and to have a picture taken and he wouldn't do either. I am a generous tipper but I really regret not giving him $0. In the end, the food was great, the night was nice. But a terrible waiter is the only thing I remember from it."

  • "The boyfriend and I went for our anniversary, and had an amazing time! Only regret is that we were too full for dessert! We'll pay definitely be back!"

  • "We invited some out of town friends out for dinner and wanted to take them somewhere special. The Hardware Grill did not disappoint! Food and ambiance were outstanding. Although it was a little noisy when we first arrived (rather large and boisterous group in the back made it hard to hear at our table at times) once they left it was very nice. The food more than made up for it. Thank you for a great night."

  • "My wife and I ate at the hardware grill for the first time and we had a great experience. We both had the Sea Bass and lobster crepes... It was the most amazing dish I can remember having. The prices are VERY high but I guess you pay for what you get in return, fine dining."

  • "l selected The Hardware Grill as the choice on the menu was very appealing. The staff, from the moment we arrived, were very attentive throughout the evening. Our meals were delicious, l had the seabass and my husband had the salmon. We selected the beef carpaccio and romaine green salad as starters and they were average. The wine list was extensive and we eventually made a great selection with some assistance from our server. Our desserts, profiteroles with espresso ice cream and crème brulee with donut, were average. All in all, a good pleasant evening and we will definitely will be back again. As my husband is hard of hearing they accommodated my request of a table in a corner."

  • "We were out celebrating for a special occasion. We started with the Kobe Carpacio suggested by our wonderful server, Shane. It was amazing. I has the Sea Bass. It was delicious and a large serving. My husband had the smoke Duck Breast. He said it was the best dish he has had. I had a bite and honestly preferred my Sea Bass dish but was glad he loved his dish. Finished off with the salted creme brûlée with fresh bacon maple donut. It was the best dessert. Perfect way to end an outstanding meal. Impeccable service. This will be our new special occasion restaurant for many years to come!"

  • "We celebrated my wife's birthday with one other couple. We had a booth, which was so cozy, but with a view to the kitchen. Very easy to carry on a conversation. Waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the glass of beer on tap--it must have been an ale. Appetizer plate of charcuterie was wonderful in variety, quality and freshness. Just excellent. Our meal--fish for all--was ready in very quick time, and was also fresh and original. Wine was not overly expensive, which I appreciated. A lovely gesture of the kitchen to provide a lovely slice of chocolate cake for the birthday girl. The profiteroles were perfect. Altogether, we spent a delightful 2 and 1/2 hours there, and the atmosphere was most pleasant."

  • "We enjoyed the range of the menu. My husband loves game so he chose the elk. It was served with a variety of creamy root vegetable. I wanted to try the vegetarian sampler with truffle macaroni and cheese. I especially like the portabello mushroom with goat cheese. We both had a glass of wine with our meal. We like the selection of single glasses of wine. We were too full for dessert. We sat at a table that had a full view of the kitchen."

  • "Nice restaurant in a pretty shady area of town. I took some guests out for a special occasion dinner. Food was tasty and if you have a keen taste buds, you'll be pleased with the quality of the food. Service was aggregating. We were a group of 8 people enjoying ourselves but the waiter repeatedly tried to take our unfinished plates away. One of my guests became so frustrated that he let his plate go with nearly half of his steak on it."

  • "After hearing wonderful things about Hardware Grill, we were very disappointed in the overall experience. My food, which was gluten free was prepared to perfection; however, my 2 older children's food was generic and hastily put together. I realize it's new year's, but for $330 for 3 people, I expect exceptional. We will never go back and my only regret was that Zinc was not available, which is clearly the more outstanding choice between the two. Save your money and go to Zinc, where you will receive a work of art that tastes divine. Thanks!"

  • "My fiance and I came here for a date night/his birthday dinner. We're both from Vancouver and noted that in the 5+ years of having lived here in Edmonton, our server provided the best service and experience we've ever had! A beautiful restaurant with great food and service. Definitely recommend for a nice evening out, whether for a romantic date or business. Will definitely return!"

  • "Came in for Valentines and had a great experience. It was a set menu but the options available gave us enough choice to choose items that we really wanted to try. The server gave us a great recommendation for a bottle of wine after we decided what variety and price range we wanted to be in. The portions were large and of the highest quality ingredients. Chef Larry created rich and dynamic dishes. After our meal the server gave me a long stemmed rose to take home. It was a nice touch to finish off the dining experience. After dinner and desert we choose to sit at the bar and enjoy an aperitif. That gave us an opportunity to interact with the other staff who were friendly and engaging. I would go back for just desert and drink at the bar."
