With an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients, Executive Chef Ariel Fox’s inspired menu fuses diverse West Coast influences with punches of Americana. Harding’s also offers an extensive American beer and wine menu, as well as an array of classic cocktails created by the restaurant’s expert mixologists. Diner Reviews
  • "This is the perfect place for a light lunch with a business friend. The room has a great feel, music is at the right volume and the food is served in small portions... Great to have a quick business meeting and head back to the office."

  • "I like this place a lot for its service and the steak and eggs were delicious. It is not great on variety but if you like eggs this is definitely the place to come as they prepare them in a variety of ways."

  • "the food didn't match the upscale decor. would not return"

  • "This restaurant has been around a little over a year and they are the best kept secret in flatiron. Food and service was excellent. The owner came over to the table to check on us and I recommend this place to anyone for work or pleasure."

  • "The food varies, as does the service. In times when it was been crowded I received my food quickly, and at times when it is empty it has taken 30 minutes. Overall a reliable neighborhood spot."

  • "The food was excellent. I had a filet mignon special that was absolutely delicious. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be back."

  • "We wanted to like this place, but everything was just mediocre at best from the service, to the drinks to the food. The place has a good vibe and the bar scene seems pretty cool but as for dinner we will not be going back."

  • "I'm shocked that Harding's got decent reviews here. I went for a business lunch with colleagues - every single one of us was disappointed with our meals. Two couldn't come close to finishing our "house specialty" burgers (more like hockey pucks). Our dishes were never cleared from the table, and the food took forever to get to us in the first place. I will not be returning and would caution friends to avoid all together."

  • "Quiet, not too busy brunch spot on a Sunday afternoon. Food was good and the drinks were better. Really sweet wait staff."

  • "sat at my table, and ignored for 10 minutes. had to ask for menus. talked to 3 different servers before permanent server assigned to our table. you were busy, but most tables were winding down, so it did not make sense for the lack of attention. Also, wine list was limited, and expensive for the variety. red wine was served warm--I would suggest serving at proper temperature if you want to sell wine and have repeat customers that enjoy wine with dinner."

  • "I really want to love this place. The food was great and really overachieving, the decor has a rustic chic vibe, and the service is very friendly. However, it was incredibly loud and I think it's because of the acoustics of the space. Even when there were very few people in the restaurant (we ate early), it felt like we were literally in a club because the noise level was so overpowering."

  • "I will not be coming back here. Might return for drinks, but definitely not for the food, which was mediocre and overpriced. I had the quinoa salad with chicken (chicken was dry), my sister had the scrambled breakfast special (v boring), and my other sister had the burger, which was the only thing I would ever order again. We were the first ones in the restaurant for brunch and it was empty, but they waited to bring out the bread/muffin basket until our food arrived. I had a Bloody Mary, which was delicious but small. The restaurant is gorgeous, but there are plenty of other visually appealing restaurants that actually serve good food for a lot less money."

  • "Loud bustling place with plenty of space and great service, but the food was not great. Octopus in the octopus salad was rubbery and fishy. Risotto was chewy, buttery and milky--not creamy, slow cooked risotto. Host was very nice and offered to buy us drinks at the bar when we lingered at the table."

  • "After walking by Harding's many times we finally had a chance to try it last night. Great looking restaurant and bar area, great music, cool semi-private table for larger groups lofted in the back. Nice all-American wine list at reasonable price-points. Unfortunately, that's where it ended. Hostess could not have been less hospitable or interested in any of the tables...she thought she was on display. Fine. Our server and bussers were enthusiastic enough but seemed to have only recently entered the restaurant business, struggling with wine service and to manage the courses. Food was interesting, but bland and not hot. "Management" was non-existent--just 3 guys walking around like a frat party, oblivious to service and food issues."

  • "The food was great- minus the grains and barley! They did NOT add the truffle oil and the dish was bland and quite heavy."

  • "Every year my husband, myself and our close friends get together for a holiday dinner and choose a new place to try out. I was very happy that i chose Hardings. I told the restaurant that it would 8 of us coming in and they decided to put us in one of their private rooms, which was a wonderful surprise. The only thing i would say is that you have to order separate sides since the dishes do not come with anything remotely considered as a side dish. Although i knew that, some people at my table did not and they would have appreciated that the waitress warned them while ordering. Other than that, i will be keeping this restaurant on my go to list."

  • "I booked this place with a group of 8 girls for a Friday night out. Was jam packed with people so when we arrived I assumed they just shoved us in a table somewhere. Nope they gave us the private back room! I am happy they gave this to us because I had no idea it existed. Off to the side so the noise from the bar area just seemed at a good distance. Every dish we had was better than the next....out server was great about getting us whatever we needed, including adjusting the temperature of the room. The only complaint was that they seemed understaffed at the bar. Packed restaurant/bar and only 2 bartenders...I hope that isn't their norm. I will definitely be back and recommend this place to others!"

  • "As foreigners who have never experienced Thanks Giving Day, we made sure we booked well in advance so we had somewhere to join in the celebrations. Although we had to wait a while for our table they seated as soon as possible. The food was really good, however a little dissapointing that 1 of the desserts was already completely out by the time we ordered and then we were told that from our order of 4 Turkey dishes, there were only 2 available. I would have thought given that it was Thanks Giving and Turkey is an essential part of any meal that I've ever read about or seen in movies I was a little surprised and we certainly weren't on the "late shift". Our waitress however was amazing and was soooo lovely that it didn't bother us."

  • "Came here with family from out of town for the first time, and was more than pleasantly surprised by the brunch menu, cocktails, and delicious food. My husband said it was the best steak and eggs he has had in the city (and he is picky!). The griddle cake is a must! Only complaint was the coffee was not hot enough, but when we told our waitress, she made sure the next round was plenty hot and rectified the situation. Great service, food, and vibe. Will definitely be coming here time and time again."

  • "went for brunch, was quite ordinary. Cocktails are pretty weak, egg dishes are a bit dull. The atmosphere and décor are warm and welcoming. Will probably give it another chance for dinner."

  • "Everything at Harding's was superb! From the food to the service (and even to the music that was playing on the sound system), our entire experience was wonderful!"

  • "This place is great. Awesome bar scene. Great food (try the griddle cake). And a friendly staff. I live in the neighborhood and go often - even with other "top" restaurants nearby. Go for a drink or dinner. You'll like it."

  • "After living in the city for quite some time and experiencing many restaurants, I would say Harding's is one of my new favorites! The food has not failed to be exactly what I'm looking for while still being something unique! The waitstaff and bartenders are lovely, super friendly and helpful with recommendations. This is my go to when I'm looking for comfort food and a great drink. The atmosphere is energetic and never disappoints when I'm entertaining friends or family."

  • "We live in the neighborhood and had passed this place many times. Finally we decided to make a reservation. We went on a Saturday night with 6 people for a birthday dinner. The food was really not great. Everything came out bit cold and many items appeared burned. Finally someone came over and apologized for the delay and said they were experimenting with a new sous chef which wasn't working out. He offered us free dessert. Then I couldn't find my server for a drink and I finally had to flag down the manager again and he gave me my cocktail for free. Overall would not waste your time. The manager did the right thing but doesn't make up for below average food."

  • "We waited 20 minutes at least after our reservation time on a Wednesday night; but it's the holidays so maybe that's why. We had to be a bit of a pest several times and when we went to the bar to get a drink, the manager comped the drink for us -- which we had expected (again, given the rather long delay). Our server was fantastic and attentive even though he was really busy. Our table was wobbly and we tried fixing it ourselves a couple times but had to settle for a moderate improvement. The food was quite good but my scallops weren't very hot; I get it - it's hard to time the entrees to come out together and be the right temperature, etc. But excellent restaurants manage this. The roasted veggies were delish! Lively environment!"

  • "We sat for two hours and never ate a bight of food. Finally walked out, along with half the restaurant. Manager claimed they were short staffed in the kitchen but I have never experienced anything like this before. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place."

  • "Guess I should have known there was something suspicious about all the open availability at the last minute for Harding's. Wanted to try a new spot that seemed festive ahead of the holidays. Arrived 10minutes late to find a bustling bar scene and an overwhelmed restaurant. After waiting at the bar well over an hour, the manager was gracious enough to buy us a drink. Sadly all the wine in the world was not worth the wait for the mediocre food. The sweet potato gnocchi tasted stale and deep fried. (My standard is high as I favor Union Square's light puffs or Cookshop's sweet, airy clouds.)"

  • "I thought the food was quite good (except for the griddle cake dessert, which was bland and undercooked.) But there was a very big bar scene going on in this cavernous Flatiron room, and my tablemate and I shouted at each other over the din trying to have a conversation. I would not go back because of it."

  • "Requested the pork to be done medium-well and was informed by the waitress that the chef does not cook food to order. Waitress was very nice about it, but I had to choose another item on the menu. I think the chef should cook food to how the customer wants it, not to how she thinks it should be eaten."

  • "Sunday Brunch reviews were good. Unfortunately, our choices were flavorless and unseasoned. White Baked Egg,s both servings were dry and had an odd off taste & Santa Cruz scrambled eggs were unseasoned so although the eggs were cooked well, they lacked flavor. Good Bloody Marys, although overpriced at $11.00 each"

  • "3 chances to make a drink with bourbon (old fashioned, manhattan and boulevardier) - all were probably the worst I've ever had Waited 40 minutes past our reservation time to be seated Most of the short rib dish was great but half the turnips were seasoned well and the rest were way overseasoned Recommend the stuffed peppers and the fig toast. Just an inconsistent meal all together and service was not great."
    Dined on 12/7/2013
  • "Food was really good but as they began to get busy the service levels dropped considerably. We waited 35 minutes to receive our deserts with no one checking on us during that time."

  • "Had a great family/friends atmosphere! The food for brunch was delicious and the brunch cocktails were even more amazing. I've also been here for after work drinks and love the bar vibe. It's classy yet trendy. Great for a date for a night out for drinks with friends."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Harding's for brunch on a Saturday. I ordered the french toast (which was good) and she ordered the eggs with beans (also good). However, the service is what really got me. Our waitress was very nice and did a good job as far as what she could control. However, the restaurant a) did not have Splenda - I feel like that's just a given at this point in pretty much any restaurant in the city, and b) when I asked for just two plain eggs to go along with my meal, the kitchen refused to make it. The waitress went into the kitchen to ask; they said it could not do be done. There are omelettes on the menu. I felt like that was ridiculous. Those two things combined with OK food led to a mediocre experience."

  • "Had cocktails at the bar - great drinks and very friendly barman! There were 6 of us and we had the private room which I thought was great. However it took 45 minutes for our lunches on Sunday afternoon - res was for 1:45pm. We had no appetizers. Five of us were served and the sixth had to wait another 7 minutes for hers. Food was good, especially like "the Blue". We did order a hamburger and it came well instead of medium. The restaurant did apologize and bought us a round of drinks."

  • "Harding's is a true find in New York City. The fusion of civil war era design sensibility and classic american food made with contemporary inspiration makes a feast for the eyes and the palette. Their cocktails are delicious, their first courses are creative and interesting and their mains all looked so good that it was hard to choose. Ultimately, I landed on the short ribs which were the best short ribs I've ever had and it's not even close. The only less than perfect aspect of the evening was the service. While our server was friendly enough, he was a bit socially awkward, which made for some interesting conversations, but probably not the level of service you'd want to match the rest of the experience. Overall, amazing experience."
