We went during Charleston Restaurant week but had reservations. Got there a little early to sit at the bar, which was nice. The bartender overheard us talking about our recent engagement and gave us free champagne, a great surprise. We got the she crab soup and swordfish which was all phenomenal. I have heard of other restaurants not being able to serve their best quality during restaurant week but we were overly impressed with the quality. Hank's was recommended to me and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This was restaurant week in Charleston, but we could order off the regular menu. They have the best crab cakes, and the wife loved their salmon, best she has ever eaten, and that says a lot! In the time we stayed this was the high light of the trip to Charleston.

The restaurant was highly regarded by those in Charleston and recommended by the hotel. The waitress we had seemed put out with the fact it was "Restaurant Week" and she seemed to go out of her way to be rude and less than accommodating. After our meal was served, she never stopped by to check on us, but attended the table next to us on many trips going right by us. Unfortunately, you don't just visit a restaurant for the food. You pay for the experience and this was less than satisfactory. We were with another couple for business and I would have preferred to have paid more at another restaurant than to have been ignored at this one.

We were looking for a place to celebrate our friends' wedding anniversary in Charleston and I emailed another friend who lives in town for his recommendations. He said that Hank's was his "go-to" whenever he went downtown. We made reservations, and no fewer than three other people commended our choice: our bellman, concierge and doorman--all a very good sign! We went that evening and were not disappointed, food and service was outstanding (get the grouper!), and they made this anniversary a great memory for our friends. I would highly recommend! Make sure you get reservations though, it gets VERY crowded!

The food was very good and the menu had several authentic South Carolina dishes. Our server was absolutely outstanding and help make our dinner much more enjoyable than the food alone. She made several great recommendations like the She Crab Soup and the Shrimp and Grits that were top notch. The restaurant is certainly not inexpensive but this is one of the few times recently that I paid top dollar but actually felt like I got what I paid for. I would recommend this restaurant higly.

We, and our guests, were expecting delays and slow service because of restaurant week. Didn't happen. We were seated immediately. Our server did the drinks, appetizer, specials dance with superb timing and our meals were right on schedule. We never felt rushed or forgotten and despite the large crowd, thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We can only pay Hank's the best compliment: we'll be back.

We decided to take a quick trip to Charleston, SC for our wedding anniversary. It was Restaurant Week, so our somewhat last minute reservation was limited to a few recommended restaurants. We made an Open Table reservation for 8:00 on Sunday night, and made a notation in the on-line reservation that we would like a nice table since we were celebrating. We were seated in a nice curved booth in a corner - probably the nicest table. Our waiter was attentive without being a bother. The food was wonderful - I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly (which is seldom done). My husband had grilled shrimp with grits and loved it too. Nice wine list and the waiter wished us "Happy Anniversary" at the end of the meal. We'll go back!

Dined here with a party of six. The she crab soup was the best I have had in charleston. (So far) the sesame crusted tuna was wonderful, as well as the fried shrimp. The only complaint was we were there for a little over 2 hours. Although the appetizers arrived quickly there was quite a lag for dinner. But overall would recommend for a great seafood dinner.

Was so looking forward to finally be able to have dinner at Hanks. Had heard so many good things. The service was excellent but the food was sub par. We attended on Restaurant week so maybe not up to level. Three in the party and all dishes were so-so. I had the fish and had to cut with a knife as it was undercooked. Daughter had fried platter and the oysters were very chewy. She crab soup needed a little sherry to elevate the flavor. I was disappointed but loved the ambiance and service. Hoping it was just a fluke during restaurant week.

Our reservation was for 6:45 and we were seated at 7:20. Service was not impressive nor was the pasta. Fried seafood was good and an ample amount. Left feeling as though it was a high-end tourist spot that didn't reflect how wonderful Charleston service and food can be.

The food and menu was very good as usual. The service however felt rushed and below par. Only two of our party ordered off Restaurant week set menu. We had cocktails and a nice bottle if wine. Bill was over $300. That's a lot of money to feel your being rushed. After ordering cocktails and asking for time to look at menu, the waiter asked us 3 times to order before ever bringing our drinks. And once the entrees arrived our water glasses were never refilled. We rationed out what w&f had and shared. I know that RW can be busy- but experiences like that one don't send me rushing back in on a random Tuesday. Wish we choose somewhere else who didn't lower their service standards to meet demand if the week. Did enjoy the food.

Celebrating our wedding anniversary we wanted to dine somewhere special. Hanks exceeded our expectations and we will be back. On arrival we were seated right away in a comfortable booth. Our waitress was very sweet, took the time to explain dishes to us and give us two excellent ideas to try. Even though it was restaurant week, with many excellent choices on the "set 3 for $40" we decided to step outside the box and was truly not disappointed one bit. Now we are looking for an excuse to go back next week! Cheers and thank you for making our anniversary dinner so special.

Food was great and service was excellent. The night we were at the restaurant a large group of people sat close to our table and they were very noisy. • Great Food / Reservation issue

First time at Hank's and there for our anniversary. In brief, the food was awesome and the service was efficient. And we probably won't go back. There are so many great restaurants in Charleston and this is truly one of them in terms of food quality. The issue was that we had a 6:30 reservation (and showed up on time) and weren't seated until 7:08 (after a 20 minute delay estimate). If a party has a reservation, a table should be available at approximately the reservation time...period. We were famished and antsy and nothing was offered to offset their issue. The manager was polite after being informed post-meal -- handled himself well. But again, why roll the dice when there are so many great alternatives.

Our reservation was for 6:30, it was Labor Day weekend, when we got there we were informed of a 20 minute wait. The people before us with a 6:15 reservation waited at least 30 minutes. The hostess and manager were not terribly apologetic, but were probably tired of people complaining. They said waitstaff called off. Water took as long coming as the food. That being said, the bread was fresh out of the oven and delicious. I ordered the seasonal salad, a mix of farro, greens, and vegetables. It was wonderful. My husband said his fried calamari was bland. The steamed clams were delicious!! Loved the broth, flavorful but not salty. My husband's crabcakes were amazing. Had the sorbet trio which was very refreshing. Would come back.
