  • "I had taken my boyfriend out for his birthday. Our reservation was at 8:30 and our waiter didn't take our order until 9:15. I had a surprise cake which was asked to be brought out at the end of the meal, and instead they brought out a complimentary dessert. I thought that was sweet but, where was our cake? My friend had to get up and remind them about it! I had given my credit card early because I didn't want anyone to pay, and when the bill came out, my credit card was not there! I had to go find our waiter and tell him that they have my credit card! At that point the dinner was ruined. I signed the check and left. But the thing that upsets me is that our bill came to $275! I was overcharged and didn't even know it! Never coming back again"

  • "The restaurant is within the Marriott SFO lobby. The view overlooks the bay and airport and you can easily be mesmerized watching the planes land. Also watching the fog roll over the airport. You soon realize why there are delays at the airport. The service was excellent, with the waiters checking on your table regularly but never distracting you from your conversation with guests. The steak I ordered was very good. It's hard to find a good steak. The crab cake appetizer was one of the best we have had in the bay area."

  • "Super over-priced. The service was great. The bread was pretty tasty, but the rest of the meal was rather meh. My boyfriend's steak was ok. Not worth $37. You have to pay extra to get any sides. The mashed potatoes were ok. My pasta was ok. There was supposed to be goat cheese in it, but they used Parmesan instead. A couple mushrooms and pieces of spinach, but mostly pasta and rather bland. I would not recommend this place at all. The only reason I tried this place was because I got a gift certificate for $25. We still ended up paying $60+. Ugh."

  • "My daughter and I were staying at the Marriott Waterfront near SFO after being in Napa a couple days. We had gotten to the hotel late and deceided to eat at Hangar Steak. We each had salads, ceasar and watermelon arugula. Salads were good especially the watermelon arugula. We then split the 8oz filet with bernaise and the sweet potato gratin. Steak was excellent and done to perfection. I had never had a sweet potato au gratin. Sides are not cheap, but portion was a good size and sweet potato gratin was excellent. Service was excellent. My only complaint was wait between the salad and main dish was long, but took into consideration it was Father s Day. We would go back to Hangar Steak when we were in the area again."

  • "For a hotel restaurant, the quality of the food was very good and it measured up to a steak house. The ribeye and filet mignon were cooked as ordered. The lamb chop and lobster ravioli appetizers were very tasty. All side dishes need to be ordered separately but it can be shared. Ambience could be better; the lounge/bar has the big windows and view of the bay/SFO but the restaurant is located in a small room. Our waiter David was very attentive and accommodating. The service pace was just right but then we like to enjoy our wine before and during dinner. Overall, it's a bit pricey and we can get the same quality in other steak houses but we can come back."

  • "We went on Friday night. Had a coupon I bought from ADP. I got the ribeye, my wife got the sea bass, and we got our 3 year old son the salmon. He doesn't like kiddie food, ex: chicken fingers, hamburgers, hot dogs..etc. The ribeye was so flavorful. The fat infused with the tender meat...The roasted garlic melting on top of the seared heavenly meat was so gorgeous. My taste buds were intoxicated on the Devine flavors of the succulent ribeye My wife's sea Bass's skin was crispy like Chicharrón, but the flesh melted in your mouth like foie gras. The chorizo sauce gave the bass a little kick, but no burning tounge. "

  • "We started with rosemary bread with butter & olive oil & balsamic vinegar. The balsamic was the most mild & sweet balsamic I've ever had. It was delicious. My husband had the Pacific oysters, which he liked more than eastcoast oysters. I had the mushroom brie soup, which was out-of-this-world! I have never had anything like it. My husband ate the cedar-wrapped salmon that thoroughly enjoyed. I had the filet mignon with roasted garlic cloves & Bearnaise sauce. It was one of the best filets that I've had. While we decided to skip dessert, our bill was accompanied by two giant strawberries covered in chocolate that were delicious. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and polite."

  • "I chose Hangar Steak for rare chance to dine with wife w/o kids, based on last minute availability. Good chefs and nice wait staff, likable folks who worked to please. The food was fine. Now for the bad news: big mismatch between the pricing and the customer experience. Everything was priced at top Manhattan $$$$. Not only were the steaks pushing $40 *not* including each $8 side, there were no entrees of any sort less than $30. Half dozen oysters $18. That would have been OK if not for the bigger disappointment: the restaurant decor and ambience was 100% dull corporate budget hotel. Much more like a Holiday Inn dining room than, say, like the mood of an Ame at the St. Regis. The interior needs a complete overhaul. "

  • "The food was great, the steaks were fantastic. However, there were a number of small kids that were allowed to run around the restaurant and scream and yell. None of the staff or management made any effort to ask the parents to take better control of their kids. The parents allowed the restaurant to be the kids romper room, while they ate and chatted, oblivious to the rowdy nature of their kids. It's always a hard call for staff to ask parents to be parents, so I don't really fault Hangar Steak too much. Maybe they should just place big kid tables in the rear of the dining room not at the frount. "

  • "This was our first time at Hangar so we weren't sure what to expect. The tables are well laid out, with a private section for each table that faces the window where you can see the airplanes land. We had appetizer, two soups, the prime rib and the sea bass. All of the food was excellent, and we both agreed that "the chef definitely knows what they're doing!" Our waiter was very personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. He was also very helpful in choosing a wine for me. Waiter gets an A+! Great food, great service, we will certainly go back for our next special occasion. PS. The only thing that was a bit "cheesy" was the two large screen TV's displaying a faux fire place, which we had a bit of a chuckle over."
