  • "Bad service and mediocre food that was overpriced. I may give it another chance since I like the area. I will Them the benefit of the doubt that they were just Having a bad night!"

  • "not up to their usual high standards . maybe a bad night"

  • "Ok, it was a busy Friday night... but the food was not anything special and the service was poor. Had to ask for water twice... waitress only filled half the glasses at the table, and not the ones of the folks who asked... just one example. Cramped seating, room was warm. Always took frineds for a special meal her... will thnk twice about doing that again..."

  • "Everything was outstanding! We sat indoors - although I have dined outdoors in warm weather and LOVED it - near the grill. Felt like we were at the Chef's table!!! Whole experience outstanding. Definitely recommend this restaurant! Food: excellent, ambience: charming, whole evening with friends: priceless"

  • "Food is quite good but over priced. Out of one of their specialties early in the evening 7:30, un-excusable. Service was super slow, understaffed for a Saturday night. Maitre D played favorites - so annoying"

  • "First, I like the Hamilton Grill very much. I have eaten there numerous times. However, this time around I ordered a meal that was to be stuffed with prosciutto and gruyere. When the food arrived it was not stuffed. I brought it to the attention of the server and the manager came by with the stuffing on a side plate. Since it was late I did not want to make more of it but thought the way it was handled was poor. It was a major miss."

  • "If you like food swimming in oil, then this is the place. The grill was good, but just so much oil. True disappointment."

  • "A very messy night and Hamilton's felt like a refuge from the storm. I enjoy the warmth of the grill but also like the front room. Dinner was good, not up to usual standards, but still good. My only major complaint: my husband and I shared the clam bake for $55, ingredients were all good--lobster, clam, mussels, and some other goodies--but it was completely unseasoned, no sprig of parsley let alone tarragon, no garlic, just plain, as if the cook left some zestiness out. Service was relatively slow but acceptable."

  • "The food was incredible, the staff and waiters checked in frequently. Never felt rushed. Best food we've had in a long time."

  • "We go to Hamilton only once a year since we live 90 min away, and they never disappoint. My wife had grilled trout and I had salmon. The food was incredible as always and our table was waiting for us. Will always be back and always tell everyone I know about Hamilton Grill"

  • "We met friends on Friday evening March 28th at 6:30pm. We were please that we were seated at the same table we'd had during our last visit in 2013 - in the back left room next to the window. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there. There were only two tables occupied at that time. We were greeted by our server, a very nice, attractive older woman. The room quickly filled up, and by 7:00pm it was very busy. That's when we realized our server was the ONLY one for our entire room (at least 8 tables - one had 5 people, one had 6, and the rest were mostly 4). So our service became non-existent. We couldn't blame our server - she was trying her best, but it was an impossible task. How can you possibly do it all alone??"

  • "The food was wonderful. It will be hard to match the excellent preparation , presentation, service was perfect. Can not wait to go back even though even though one and half hour away from home."

  • "We loved the atmosphere! We dined there several years ago and it is still just as good now. Consistency in a restaurant is important. The calamari appetizer and the risotto side dish that we had as a second course were exceptionally delicious. The salads and entrees were just as tasty. This BYOB is the place to go for great food! Our waiter Eric made the experience even more enjoyable."

  • "Took my friend to dinner here, our spot for special occasions. Everything was excellent. Bay scallops were "best meal ever" for my friend. My swordfish was so tender and delicious. A real treat and great evening."

  • "Had read several good reviews about this restaurant. The service was good and the atmosphere was good, but the food was more akin to a diner. We had the calamari which we were told was sautéed. It had a very strange taste and was then told it was poached not sautéed. I had the Bronzino for my main course. It was very dry and obviously overcooked. My girl friend had the strip steak which was tough and very fatty. All in all, a very disappointing evening."

  • "We dined during restaurant week. The menu had a nice variety with additions not listed on the menu but still included in the price. The original menu was also available for one of our guests who chose not to take advantage of the $30 3 course meal. We have dined here on several occasions but mostly on special occasions. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food in consistent as well as the wait staff."

  • "This is the second time I have had dinner at the Hamilton Grill Room. It was a Saturday night and the restaurant was filled to capacity. The noise level was a bit more than the last time given the crowd. However the space has a warm and fun ambience. The wait staff and hostess were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and the presentation was great. I will return in the future and recommend this establishment."

  • "I was in Lambertville for a girl's weekend and didn't want to leave dinner plans to chance so I chose HGR. From the friendly host, to the decor, to the food it was a smash! Altho some may not like the noise level and the fact that some areas of the restaurant are crowded, do not let that put you off. It is a high energy, beautiful gem of a place with fantastic food (grilled shrimp with anchovy butter? TDF!) I will be back!"

  • "An excellent restaurant tucked away in an alley overlooking the canal. Deservedly crowded on a Friday night, with excellent food."

  • "The Grille remains as one of our go to spots for a special meal or when we just want to visit Lambertville for any number of reasons. Just happens they were having their annual Oyster Night which one of us ordered - simply great. Be sure to have a pre dinner drink at the funky Boat House Bar across the pathway - a unique and good experience."

  • "Dinner on a Saturday night and the place was jumping with people waiting to be seated, even with reservations, apparently. Server apologized several times because the kitchen was so busy. Perhaps they need to remove a few tables if they can't handle the volume they are set up for? I enjoy leisurely dining, but waiting an hour for entrees is really unacceptable. Had to ask for water several times. Food was very good and we enjoyed the "new" menu with some better selections than what we had gotten used to over the years."

  • "We drove from Rockaway for their Tuesday Tableside three course special, chicken cacciatore with linguini. Very good. Like the byob. Service was great. We had reservations for 6:30 so it wasn't very busy. Arrived early so had a drink at a quaint bar adjacent to restaurant. An enjoyable evening."

  • "Overall, had a good time. Service was extremely nice and respectable. She wasn't too envasive but also hard to find at times. Told us the evening specials but the sides came out different. Food was decent for price point. B.Y.O.B."

  • "We save this dining spot for special occasions throughout the years and are never disappointed, We took our daughter out for her 27th birthday on Saturday and a night to remember took place. The food was awesome...our server very attentive...and they even brought out a piece of cake with candle for us to sing "Happy Birthday" to her. From the Wellfleet oysters...poached calamari...steak...lamb...scallops we all enjoyed the food was fresh and amazing...almost to the point of licking our plates! Thank you Hamilton's Grill!"

  • "I travel from Philadelphia to eat here. Wonderful good, cozy atmosphere, and excellent service. Have been here a half dozen times meeting friends from Princeton and always impressed. Not pretentious. Food always the freshest."

  • "Fairly high priced, good quality food but very basic preparation. Luckily its BYOB. Entrees priced above $30 should get you something you cant cook at home. Overall okay but not worth the 40 minute drive."

  • "The restaurant was a bit off this night. Two events made this so: Valentina's Day and the fact that we were among the last reservations of the evening. First, we were seated a half hour later than our 9 PM reservation. Then we were informed of the many items that were no longer available. Finally, my wife's Lobster Thermidor was almost devoid of lobster. I will consider this an exception, as we have always had a wonderful experience here on our many previous visits."

  • "Been visiting Hamilton's MANY years before I move to Lambertville 13 years ago and continue to frequent them. Still as wonderful as ever and I'm never disappointed. Did the Valentine's Day Prix Fix with the wife and 2 small children and it was an wonderful experience. Mr. Hamilton visited and toasted to everyone, and even designed the ambiance for the night (being a Broadway set designer himself). A must visit place."

  • "Beautiful atmosphere on a wintery night. This restaurant's small menu expanded with nightly specials was plenty for our group of 6 to choose from. The veal chop special was exquisite - not too big and cooked to perfection. The local seasonal menu entices me to return in the spring! The service staff was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable. A gem of a restaurant that we will surly be going to again - and again."

  • "This is the best restaurant I have eaten at in the Lambertville, New Hope area. The food was outstanding with great menu The restaurant is small and tables are close together so the noise level is loud. The great food is worth dealing with the noise."

  • "My husband and I try and do a 'date-night' once a month, and this month my husband picked Hamilton Grill. We just moved into town, but he had heard good things. Well, everything he had heard was dead on! The service was phenomenal, the staff is so friendly, and the food was GREAT. Mr, Hamilton hand writes every menu, which gives it such a nice touch. My husband had forgotten to bring wine, so he ran across the street to boat house to buy a bottle, so easy and convenient. I will definitely be wanting to go back to Hamilton Grill for a date night in the coming months! Maybe when it is warm, it looked like they had some outdoor seating :-)"

  • "Service was wonderful. Small but noisy restaurant down A side road in Lambertville. Parking is not easy. Wait ataff Was attentive. This is a Byob but food is good But pricey. Lamb chops were excellent. Friend Had pheasant that was done well. Short ribs Were ok. A bit fatty, this is a very small restaurant that Seems to be a local favorite. Across the street is The boat house bar where you can catch a night Cap. Very small but interesting art work through out,"

  • "A staple in the Lambertville foodie scene, the food has lost it's special unique touches. All is good, but perfunctory for the price. Service is mixed. Great setting, but we see they've become lazy and complacent, kind of if we serve it they will like it. Many more choices out there these days..."

  • "This was our second trip to the New Hope, PA area and the second time at Hamilton Grill (we are from Morris county, NJ). With all of the restaurants to choose from, that statement in and of itself, should say it all! We were one of three tables occupied initially (had an early reservation), one was a large rowdy group and the other table was a table for two and a couple was there (this table was immediately next to us). The setting was not as romantic but that will vary with every visit. The food was tops. We got the oysters again. I had the grapefruit salad and my husband the wedge salad. For main dinners I had the salmon and my husband had the tuna special. All were great. We can't wait to go again!"
