  • Private Party Facilities: Halyards has an intimate private dining room with a single harvest table seating up to fourteen guests and a patio in our courtyard under an awning. Chef Christian has created menus to choose from or he will design a menu to your attain your culinary goal for the evening. Chris Maxwell can pair wines or order in your favorite grape juice to indulge your senses. This "smart" room has its own audio/video package available, it own entrance, wireless internet, a flat screen television, and a smart jack so your lap top can be seen and heard by all of your guests. If this room is not large enough for your event, Halyards can arrange for you to buy out the entire restaurant for the entire evening or just a portion of the night.

A word from Halyards
Halyards on St. Simons has been redefining Island Cuisine for 11 popular years. The Island's unrivaled see-and-be-seen dinner spot for locals who know and for coastal visitors who've heard that the Seared Tuna with a Plum Wine Reduction and the Prime N.Y. Strip with Soy Lime Butter will make your evening. That's not to say you should skip the Creamy Blue Crab Bisque or the nightly specials. The atmosphere is casually elegant(coozy lounge furniture in the courtyard and under the awning), the welcome warm (usually by name), the service crisp and attentive, the wine cellar vast (7 Wine Spectator Awards) and the comfortable bar hip and hopping. The menu is the brilliant handiwork of Chef/Owner Dave Snyder that changes seasonally and is bold, creative and gloriously rewarding. To be sure you're pleased, Dave roams the front of the house for comments when he's not out fishing for your dinner.   • "We arrived for my birthday dinner. The place was highly recommended by a local. We arrived at 6:45 (reservation time) and were out of the door by 7:45 - we had drinks, an appetizer, a main course and a dessert. Every dish arrived within minutes after we ordered it - implying that the meals were pre-prepared in the back. While the servers were attentive, they didn't encourage a dinning experience but an eat and go experience. I am sure we could have loitered at the table without a problem but the service and food preparation create the dining experience and leisure was not the pace set. Surprising for a southern location. Beyond the time issue, I can see why this is a highly recommended place."

Use of an I-pad for choosing our bottle was a great tech-savvy touch. Food was amazing- Our server was great! I had a filet- perfectly cooked. Appetizers were well portioned and all was well presented- Additional side items that came out slightly late, but surely the kitchen must have been overwhelmed because the place was packed! Very popular. The chef came by, and all was well when they brought out a beautiful and delicious creme brûlée on the house with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate in chocolate. Nice touch- I will definitely be returning very soon!"

The appetizers, house-made bacon, potstickers and calamari were tasteful. The salads were delicious, crisp and nicely presented. The entrees, including shrimp and grits, blackened flounder and short ribs were all delicious. But the short ribs were truly outstanding, rich, meaty, super tender, and paired beautifully with a potato croquet and green beans. Apple cake with cinnamon ice cream was a great finish to a delightful meal. Can't wait to visit again."

  • "Our group dined this week at Halyard's for a birthday dinner celebration. Each of us came away thrilled with the experience. The service was professional yet friendly. We especially liked the mutual respect that our waitress displayed to the person in training who was also assigned to our table. We took the recommendations of our waitress for appetizers, the shrimp taco and crab bisque. She offered to cut them in half/split the portion in two bowls for us. The special entrée was grouper on Brussels sprouts with bacon - an ample portion. Another guest had snapper off of the menu and enjoyed it very much. I received a delicious chocolate dish with a candle at the end of the meal, thankfully understated yet a nice touch. We will go again!"

Whomever prepped the plates missed my risotto but the potatoes I got with the tuna (part of the entre) were fabulous. Be sure to get the sautéd Spinach.   • "We have eaten in most of the top rated restaurants on SSI. This place is clearly #1. We went here to celebrate our anniversary with another couple. We started with some appetizers ...... The homemade bacon and dumplings. Both we're amazing. We all tried a different mains....hanger steak, short ribs, shrimp and grits and cashew crusted fish. All were excellent. For desert we shared a apple desert with chocolate cinimon ice cream. The entir group raved about every course. The waiter was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place."

  • "We are from Savannah and have dined here twice upon the recommendation of my daughter. This is her "go to" sophisticated place when friends visit. The atmosphere is perfect for conversation; the wait staff are excellent; There were 5 in our party this time & everyone loved their choices - plates were clean! My husband and I especially like their option of "small plates" which are perfect for us. I always try their fish and my husband the filets. If you want to go somewhere special, chose Halyards. The theatre is next door which is a plus if you are in the mood for a movie. Our favorite place for lunch or brunch is Palmers in the Village. Both have the best food on the island."

  • "Dinner at Halyards was once again the treat it's always been. They recently re-decorated the bar area and that was a smart move on Chef Dave's part. When you walk into the lobby area, there is now a window that gives you a view down the beautiful bar. Lots of patrons were already seated at the bar when we arrived at 6:15 (they're now open at 5:00 for drinks and tapas) and the energy there made me want to join in the fun. Several fish specials were featured that night and I love that they allow you to substitute sides on a dish. For instance, I wanted to try their new fried (this is the south!) brussels sprouts and so substituted them for green beans. The sprouts were a little too salty, so Chef, please go easy on that next time."

  • "Interesting menu with some fascinating combinations that tickle the taste buds. Two of the three of us had fish - one salmon, one cashew-crusted white fish. Both were tender, moist and flavorful - and distinctly different. The tuna tartare appetizer was a big hit. My steak was cooked precisely as requested - medium rare. I ordered the spinach so I could taste their bacon and was pleased to find it added a pleasantly smokey touch to one of my favorite vegetables. For lighter eaters, ask for a half serving of the house salad. 'Tis sufficient. If you live here on the island, you are guaranteed to run into someone you know in the dining room or at the bar."
