I really liked the environment, but it was very loud. There was a large group sitting behind us and they were all trying to talk over each other! Decent wine selection. Of all the places on St. Simons, we feel we will never be disappointed with the food or service at Halyards. We had briefly flirted with the idea of making reservations at another local place that touts an ocean view, but in the end, decided to go with what we KNEW would be great. Oysters Rockefeller, and two different fish dishes were chosen along with cocktails. Best " higher end" restaurant we've found in the area. Food, service and ambience were all excellent. Waitress was attentive but not obtrusive. We both had one of the specials which was a grilled fish fillet served on a bed of Gorgonzola grits and perfectly al dente green beans. The ingredients worked together perfectly. We've always thought of Halyard's as a special place to dine and feel the new "ambiance" doesn't fit with the lovely surrounding décor. Women especially appreciate the "small plate" choices. We have been twice this week and will go more before we go home for the summer. Be sure and try the pot stickers along with th catch simply but perfectly prepared in Georgia Olive Oil and herbs. Then save room for the Grand Marnier White Chocolate Lava Cake.. There is a private dining room where seven of us had a superb Valentine's Day Meal.
