Hal's - BuckheadGreat Experiencechecked in - went to the bar - couple drinks - a cigar - no pressure to sit - checked back in and was immediately seated one hour after original reservation. that was great. fried oysters were very good, ny strip prepared per order, good glass (2) of wine; #504, chilean sea bass per order. already made reservations for 5/25 for the return visit. would recommend highly. note-we do like the ruth's chris in buckhead, but for comparable pricing we like hal's for the ability to smoke a good cigar (indoors), and have a "club-sized" drink poured. it didn't hurt that Dan Aykroyd was next to me at the bar-so we got to chat a bit.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I keep comingMy wife and I keep coming back and have never had a bad meal. We have eaten at steak houses from Chicago, to New York, to New Orleans, to Las Vegas. I must say that the filet that I had at Hal’s on Saturday night was, by far, the best flavored and prepared piece of prime beef that I have ever had the pleasure of feasting on. We had the lobster bisque, which was also incredible. Our server, Andre, was extremely polite, helpful, and knowledgeable of the menu and items. His recommendations, for us first time Hal’s diners, were spot on. We highly recommend this restaurant when in Atlanta. Hats off to you, your wait staff, you service staff, and especially your chefs.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter 15 years in Atlanta,After 15 years in Atlanta, we finally tried Hals and the only regret is we didn't go sooner. The food was some of the best we've had in Atlanta. Steaks cooked and seasoned to perfection. A lobster/crab appetizer that was to die for. The sea bass special was superb and even the duck that one in our party ordered was perfectly prepared. It's amazing that they could do such a variety of dishes so well.
The great food was marked by equally great service. Our waiter was extremely experienced and knowledgeable, but not haughty.
The only slight downside was the vibrant bar scene does overflow a little into the dining area-- adding some unwelcome volume and a little smoke.
