Threw a dart and hit halcyon. It was very good. I believe most people that review know little to nothing about food so while I do read comments, barring a tidal wave of negatives, I go. My friends asked why Halcyon and told of the dart method. They asked if I read the negative reviews on all the sites. And I did and a preponderance were decent. We liked all the dishes we ordered. We crossed tasted so all got a chance to comment on everything. Our criticism was for the Halibut and Soft shelled Crabs. The flavors were spot on but there was too much salad on the plate. And a minor comment, the fabulous fries on the muscles get too soggy. When I called Halcyon the hostess was so helpful and called me back within a half hour with an 8:30pm reservations because she was able to "move somethings around:)". The food was exellent (scallops to die for) and the vibe was exclent- somewhere you can get dressed up to go out to eat. The parking lot can be a little tight but overall this place is great! It looks like there is a pretty good outside patio area too. Our waiter was excellent, much patience and friendly explaining the specials not once but twice when asked. The food was great and just the atmosphere. Will be back. Also the young lady who seated us should also be praised for her friendliness and making sure we were happy where we were seated. Again a nice night out to celebrate a friends birthday. Thank you all.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of Montclair's GemsWe enjoyed everything about our dinner. Private lot in rear was convenient, especially in Montclair on a Friday night. We were greeted warmly and seated. Our waiter was friendly and attentive without being annoying. The food was delicious. We ordered a fritz misto to share as an appetizer. I wouldn't do that again because it was a very generous portion and filled us up a little too much before dinner, it was excellent, though, tender, spicy. Our dinners were both excellent. My wife had salmon and I had shrimp in a curry sauce. Will go back again soon.
