Diner Reviews
  • "Had the Duck Salad , Lamp Chops and chilean sea bass. Being a faithful patron of the Hakkasan establishments of Miami and Vegas I had to try out the NY location. I have to say although it was good it wasn't what I had come to know of the brand. The service was off and the energy was low. In Miami and Vegas the energy level is through the roof. They also over cooked my lamb chops and doused them with a thick unnecessary bbq sauce. The dessert was pretty but left the palat confused and not wanting to take another bite."

  • "Overpriced for very lackluster service. Budakkan is way better in the same league."

  • "My husband and I go to the theater a lot. The location of the restaurant was perfect. And the food was just amazing. We wanted a high end chinese restaurant and this exceeded our expectations. Loved it and we will be going back"

  • "We loved our experience. The dim sum was to die for. Presentation was wonderful. Food was excellent. Skip the "entrees" and stick with the dim sum."

  • "Very nice experience, for us better than Hakasan in London, perfect food and service"

  • "I like good food and this restaurant can deliver it, but eating is an experience that goes along with other senses like talking, listening. When music is too loud you end up missing a big part of it."

  • "Great food experience however if you are going to the theatre go early or expect to eat small and fast"

  • "Absolutely delicious food, imaginative cocktails and a beautiful ambiance make for a very memorable dining experience! Looking forward to my next visit!"

  • "Sorry. Loved hakkasan in Miami. This place was not impressive at all. Sorry. Good so-so for high prices."

  • "Our second time at this restaurant was as much fun as our first. The greeters are a bit dazed and confused but once they figure it all out, and you get past the maze of decor, and the Euro music, the experience is pretty fabulous! The food is exceptional, ranking up with the best Asian food we have eaten. The exotic cocktails are delightful and the service is really good. They offer amazing dumplings and the duck and fish dishes melt in your mouth. The prices are a bit high but the value is good."

  • "The Peking duck is excellent, really well-prepared and delicious but the servers need to stop taking away the lid to the steamer basket, the pancakes get cold. Almost every dish was excellent, especially the duck and honey sea bass. Beautiful room but be aware that the music gets very loud, not a place for a night of quiet conversation."

  • "I really thought I could find a place that would be worth the hype that my uncle has put forth but I was sorely disappointed because nothjng was special about this place other than the ambiance. The food had too much MSG, were in small portions even though each entree was $30 a dish. It was not authentic Chinese and as a Chinese person saying this I can assure you this place is for the tourist or for the non Chinese. It wasn't what I expected at all."

  • "Food at Hakkasan is good, but not as good as the prices would suggest. However, it's a convenient place to eat before the theater so we do so often."

  • "Wait staff and hostesses are very friendly. Food is ok but nothing special. We were there for Brunch last Saturday. My husband had the Brunch special and I ordered a la carte, Mongolian beef and ribeye bun with sticky rice. The restaurant was way too dark so it was very hard to read the menu. Both the ribeye bun and the Mongolian beef were too salty. My husband enjoyed his pre-selected brunch pre-fixed choice. He also said there was nothing special about his food. We can't complain about the Jasmin tea. It was very good."

  • "A great upscale delicious alternative to the chain in your face obnoxious drudgery of Time Square. If you are stuck in this neighborhood it's a great place to go."

  • "I went here with a friend for an late, after theatre meal, and loved every minute of it. The food was great! Especially memorable was the sea bass cooked in Chinese honey. it was amazing!!! Will go back to eat again here soon."

  • "The appetizers were exceptionally good while the main dishes were average to poor. The waiter must have asked how our food was about a dozen times. The place is like a labyrinth and the prices are very high."
    Dined on 4/2/2014
  • "From the vegetarian dim sum to the sculpted exotic fruit plate each dish was amazing both visually and tastewise. Everything was done to perfection. We enjoyed this dinner so much but the price makes it more suitable for special occasions."

  • "Every dish is favorable and the waitstaff is attentive and friendly. Boston Lobster is outstanding, Sugar snaps are a must as are shanghai dumplings. For a sweet flavor, Lemon Chichen."
    Dined on 3/31/2014
  • "The food was very good for fusion Chinese regional cuisine, but the service was very slow. One mistake they make is to crank the music higher than necessary, which makes it hard to converse. However, the decor is magnificent"

  • "Good creative dishes but portions small and not enough for sharing. Also expensive for what you get."

  • "This was my second time at Hakkasan. The first time was at restaurant week with friends. The cuisine, service, ambiance was superb. I will definitely go back and also recommend everyone to go."

  • "Food and service in this supposedly 1 Michelin Star restaurant were alright at best. No mind-blowing experience, not from a food perspective nor from a service perspective. Expensive, and probably a bit overrated...."

  • "Our entire experience was memorable. At our entrance one of the managers (Mr. Berry) exclaimed he will buy a round of drinks for us! We have been to Hakkasan Miami a few times, but to do New York's, very nice. Worth your effort and time for a memorable experience."

  • "Second time visiting the restaurant and it didn't disappoint. Food is absolutely stunning, perfect mixture of Asian oriental. Would go back again one million percent"

  • "Staff was terrific from the start and our waiter, Danny explained everything graciously. The food could not have been better--soft shell crabs, black pepper beef, spicy shrimps were all superb. Only problem was the noise level--we were 4 in a corner table, but it was difficult to talk with ease. Not one sound-absorbant surface mitigated the din and our neighbors were rowdy. Please, some of us want to talk at dinner--we came from France to see our friends. My architect husband appreciated the careful attention to design, but think about our ears and our desire to enjoy our time together."

  • "Great food...great place...will definitely go back. Black truffle duck is not to be missed, simply awesome."

  • "The good: very good (not amazing) food although value for the price could be better. All dishes except the dim sum platter were probably a shade under excellent. Clearly a fine dining establishment, the ambiance here is superb. It would be an impressive date place, or a good choice for a group dinner on the town. I have to say, especially at a restaurant of this caliber, I was unhappy to see a "grade pending" notice outside. It was a nice and pleasant experience and the food, quite good. The bad: There's a fine line between excellent service and suffocating service. This was the latter. Our dinner was probably interrupted by 8 different people, maybe 20 times, and in all those, no one noticed my empty drink until I said something."

  • "Best. Peking. Duck. Ever. Everything on the menu is outstanding, but the Peking Duck will change your life. It's that good. Also, your taste buds will thank you if you order a Blood and Sand from their cocktail list. Best version of this drink I have ever tasted. Added bonus: it comes with an ice cube stamped with Hakkasan's logo. Very cool."

  • "We waited 15 minutes for someone to take a drink order and then the apps and mail meal were on to of each other. It was busy and the service was off. The food was good but not presented like is was the first time.It was way too rushed for fine dining. The duck with truffles was good but not amazing for the price it should have come hot to the table it was luke warm. The lobster with chili sauce was over cooked and tough. The dumplings and ribs were very good. Not sure if I will return with so many choices in NYC."

  • "We arrived early and were directed (not escorted) to the empty bar/lounge 10 minutes waiting for someone to offer a beverage. Several waitstaff went by without a word We tried to get a drink at the bar, were ignored for another 2 minutes. We waited another 5 minutes. Would have had a drink, looked the menu had anyone offered. Had a drink so full of ice it ice spilled out Escorted to our table. Beautiful restaurant, great table. Greeted warmly, given menus. Varied, interesting Order taken promptly. Appetizers arrived, delicious. WAITED for dinner. Three of four dinners arrived. We were told the chicken took a little longer. So? 7 minutes before that arrived while three diners waited to eat. Had to ask for water 3X Too expensive to be that sloppy"

  • "So I normally avoid the fancy, upscale haunts with the ever flowing air of pretentiousness but I enjoyed myself here. From door to dining staff was friendly. My guests and I felt taken care of and we loved the plating and overall presentation. Thank God for restaurant week or I would never have tried it."

  • "Food was good. Service was annoying. Every five minutes or so.staff would come to table ti remove plates. At first we thought they were rushing us to leave but we think they ran out of clean serving dishes. Music was annoying.. Rave all the way. Should be played in a club not a restaurant"

  • "Restaurant Week deal offers poor value for money, portions have been reduced to a third of usual size (which the waiter was happy to tell us) and everything was bland. You're better off paying full price for one course and getting some quality and value. Cocktails were excellent though."
