A word from Haddingtons
Haddingtons is well-executed rustic American cuisine with a bit of "old world” influence. Hand selected produce from a network of sustainable purveyors is at the core of Haddingtons menu. Come as one or a group to dine on various small plates, entrees and family style menu offerings. The warm and inviting ambiance is balanced by high energy divided amongst several dining sections and rooms each with a distinct personality. An extensive wine list of limited, hand selected gems is supported by highly regarded classic cocktails and craft beers including rotating cask- conditioned ales. Our full menu is offered at two distinct bars serving drinks until 2:00am nightly. Our Saturday and Sunday brunch is a draw for all offering a mix of unique breakfast and more traditional lunch fare.

Made an 11 am reservation because no earlier times were available. Walked in and restaurant was empty. Very surprised. Food was mediocre. Service wasn't impressive. So many other options, Haddingon's not worth repeating.

Jacob was our server and he was outstanding. Overall, Haddingtons is a great find in downtown Austin. The bar was very fun and vibrant. In the dining room, the mood was lovely, quiet and good for conversation, with art on walls. They had just served the last glass of Malbec, but the sommelier was very knowledgeable about wines and offered an Italian wine, he thought would be a good substitute. He served a generous trial sample, allowed another person dining with us to trade in his pinot for this new wine too (without charge). Our group had delicious scallops, great steak and hamburger, salads, soups and appetizers. All excellent. The food was very good overall.

Unusual menu items were well executed and service attentive, knowledgable and pleasant. Very hip exterior with a modern take a traditional British interior design. The Briskit Hash and the Ricata fritters with espresso dipping glaze are worth a repeat visit. And the tastiest Mimosa I've had in a while.

The food is really good, but the overpriced wine list will cause you to pause on whether you are enjoying the experience. My partner and I were shocked that the wine list was so inaccessible to casual drinkers of wine and inexplicably mixed poor quality wines with top quality wines. We paid $46 for a bottle that cost $15 retail. That mark-up would be forgivable if the wine was any good, but it wasn't. There was another wine on the list that retails for about $70 and was marked-up to $96. I understand this wine is really great, so the mark-up is acceptable. This does not make sense. They need to look hard at the wine list so that reviewers like me do not spend the entire review discussing the list rather than the Duck PBJ appetizer!

Service from hostess, bartender, and waiting staff was excellent and friendly and helped with drink, appetizer and main course recommendations. Menu is well balanced with something for everything. I had the sirloin steak and it was VERY good. I worry about sirloin because of the toughness, but it was cooked amazingly. Kudos to the chef. My wife had the gnocchi, which was very good. The only thing we didn't like was the pesto. it overwhelmed the gnocchi and just didn't compliment it well (was more grainy than traditional pesto).

Food was excellent. We each ordered something different, and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The steak, the half chicken, hamburger, and osso buco were quite delicious. Desserts were lovely as well. (apple pie and bread pudding) Huge bar scene, which makes it great for drinking and talking with friends, but difficult to enjoy a meal when sitting at a table near the bar. ...lots of overflow from the bar.

Haddingtons is a unique dining experience. Their menu is not extensive, but you can tell they focus on delivering great food, much of which is sourced locally. The cocktail menu is fantastic and very different from what you get at most restaurants. The restaurant has an old school vibe, and the historic building adds to this ambiance. The staff is friendly, attentive, and very helpful in recommendations. I highly recommend and look forward to returning.

we liked decor and atmosphere - many very tempting menu choices we had flank steak & croquettes - and 1 xtra side of sweet potato hash for my husband (who cycles so eats quite a bit) but even I was left a bit hungry, so maybe could have had one more croquette on the platter - my steak was rather chewy - but I know it's flank steak - was still very flavorful tonic in the gin/tonic was tasty but a bit too flat love Live Oak Hefeweizen! waitress hovered a bit much, maybe only because she wasn't all that busy as business picked up, we noticed music became notably louder to the point we could no longer carry on a conversation without leaning over & yelling at each other was our first time, but we enjoyed it & would definitely go back

A great gastro pub with an ambiance of a beer hall. We found ourselves lucky enough to be seated at a booth with draw curtains, which we eventually drew around the back of our 5th seated at the booth, as there was a table of six nearby loud enough to make this necessary.

What a great meal. We arrived about 45 minutes prior to our reservation so we had a seat at the bar to have a drink. Me and my date got a great table in the back, with the option of pulling the curtain closed for extra privacy. I ordered flowers next door at Walton's, and the hostess was very sweet and helpful in having those setup at the table before we arrived. Our waitress was lovely and the ambience was great. With everything else having gone so well, I'm thinking it must have been an off night for the kitchen. I was surprised that it measured so poorly against the rest of my experience. I had the chicken, which was so salty that it was almost not edible. Great idea, poorly executed. My date's pork loin was much better, but everything on her plate was also over seasoned. Again, must've been an off night - I plan on trying again and do recommend.

The food was great but the service was... weird. He seemed... too happy? really stoned? just plain lost? He disappeared for long periods of time and returned and LOOMED over the table with this looney grin. It was funny, and disarming. At some point, the (I assume) manager jumped in and came and checked up on us and cleared away our plates, so maybe he was seeing the weirdness. Again, the food was great - I had the brisket hash and ate every last bite of the HUGE plate of food. I'd go again although I might shy away from that particular waiter. :)

I've been to Haddingtons before and loved everything about it, so for my birthday I decided to go here with my hubby. I reserved the table next to the kitchen so we could watch the magic happen since their food is amazing! Earlier that day our reservation was confirmed and she said we could still have the table I wanted. When we arrived on time for our reservation, the table was occupied & we had to wait at the bar till they were done. Half an our later, my hubby and I decided we were so hungry, we'd just as well eat at the bar. Just trying to get the bartender to wait on us was hard too! The bar wasn't even busy. An hour into it, we finally did start to get some food, but the people who got our table were still there! :( The food was great

We spent our anniversary at Haddingtons. Although it was not on the menu, our server read our seven year old's mind and offered him a grilled cheese. We had several small plates and split an entree. Every dish was good. The interior of this place is just cool. It's pub without being all green and brass. The variety of seating layouts and types offered everything from well lighted and open to dim and intimate. The staff was intelligent and receptive. Even though there is some clunky road construction going on in front, it is worth the inconvenience. We will be going back for sure. Next time we'll stay later and check out the pub atmosphere in the Fox. Neat spot. And bonus: we were able to park right near the entrance.

Love this place - although I miss the old menu. We had a great Caesar salad, the truffled egg custard, the Haddington's Burger and the pork tenderloin with peach chutney and chive yoghurt. My boyfriend says the pork tenderloin was amazing. My only complaint is that the menu keeps changing (whether it's drinks or food) - Bring back the upscale British pub fare and Bombardier Ale!

Haddington's is a particular favorite. My companion and I always relish the cocktails-- pre-prohibition style, fresh, made with style, never overly sweet. The small plates are our favorites. I have wistful dreams about the venison carpaccio and duck meatloaf. It is one of the few places we go where we feel every dollar we spend is justified. The noise level can be a problem for conversation, especially since the staff keeps the music volume high. Our servers are always friendly and responsive, though some are more efficient than others. The bartender never misses, though.

This was the second time we had poor service on the patio. It was extremely slow, as if they forgot we were there or didn't care. I was very excited to have the "before" sherry again as it was delicious last time, but when it finally came it did not taste good. Instead of offering to open another bottle of the same, the waiter brought out a sherry he thought would be comparable. It was not even close in color or taste. He then had the audacity (or ineptness) to ask if I wanted a beer instead! Other than that, the food was good and saved what would have been a very disappointing experience.
