Diner Reviews
  • "Manager cares a lot and crew are attentive to the customers"

  • "Gyu Kaku has the best happy hour. Cheap beers and awesome food for half the price you'll find elsewhere. The two person meal deal was a ton of food and everything was fantastic."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Such a good deal for Happy Hour! Staff were friendly which only added to the overall great experience!"

  • "I've never actually had Japanese BBQ before but I'm glad that I came to Gyu Kaku to try it for the first time! Came with two other girls & we ended up ordering the happy hour meal for 2 (smallest one/$40) & it was perfect for the three of us! We all ended up being really full & they even gave us 3 sets of smores for dessert even though only 2 is usually given. The quality of the meat was V-E-R-Y good! The server also informed us of the grilling times for each meat & was very attentive. I also ordered a lychee saketini because it was happy hour ($3, marked down from $5) & it was ok, but I wont be getting it again. The experience there was awesome & I can't wait to bring my other family/friends back to try this!"

  • "I was canceled aoutomatically afetr 15 min. I was late because it was first time to be there. And I was at a loss at the mall. I took a few time to find Gyu-Kaku. I was made to be wait for 20 min. And Beef was worse than it is in Japan."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "Great experience, always good food. Happy hour is good but still pricey and less food. Overall was ok"
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Service was very good, food was special, and difference from other BBQ place. But price is a bit high. Look up the Gen BBQ is coming ($19.99) all you can eat!!!"
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "Been here many times...always good! Never changes, which is good. Overall it is good. Get it? Got it? Good! haha"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "For two people, you can get their deal with the dinner course that comes with appetizers, meat and desserts. Mondays are all day happy hour and I would suggest to make a reservation if you are trying to catch dinner or their drinks. They no longer have the all you can eat purchase, but their courses for the amount of people you have, you'll get full for sure. If you made a reservation through OpenTable, make sure to be there before the time because your reservation will no longer work after the time you've made."

  • "I recommend to ask for the manager Albert Estrada to help you and your family out when you eat there. He is very professional, attentive, smart and suck a nice guy. He also recommends the best food from there menu."

  • "The new happy hour full course meal is amazing! It is recommended for two but it can easily feed three."

  • "The ahi poke has gotten a bit too spicy and there was no brown rice this night, but everything else was just great!"

  • "When i reserved on Open table i requested a 2 person booth. i am a Heavy set person. and we got a table with 4 pull out chairs. i like this place to go drink and snack for an hour and then eat. The pull out chairs are not confortable so after 30 minutes i have to do a walk around. i love this place but i dont like the chairs."

  • "Service is key in a dining experience. The food can be great but leave a bad taste if your not taken care of, rest assured Gyu kaku in Torrance has the friendliest staff ever! Amazing prices & always a good time. Ps they don't have a late night happy hour anymore :("

  • "We ordered the duck breast, spicy pork, shrimp, and chicken. Chicken would say was the least favorite; however all other items were amazing! Also ordered the ramen which was delicious"
    Dined on 6/2/2014
  • "Very good selection of items to choose from. Excellent service. Will definitely go back."

  • "There was a lot of food for the meat lovers course. There were 3 adults and 2 young teens in our group and the 4 people meat lovers course filled us up. The service was great. The food kept coming and empty plates were removed from table quickly. The Gyu-Kaku salad was fresh and had delicious dressing. Make sure you make a reservation otherwise it may be tough to get a table there. We were seated right away for our 6:30 reservation. They have a great ventilation system considering we were grilling at our table and we did not retain any food odors on our clothing afterwards. We all enjoyed eating there."

Go for the happy hours...you will have alot less expensive bill and you definatelty will be happy! They don't cut the quality during happy hours"

  • "Reserving through Open Table actually put us ahead of quite a few people... Food was DELICIOUS! Mondays are the BEST due to it being Happy Hour ALL DAY!! Would recommend to everyone =)"

  • "This place is a fun place to dine at with family and friends. The energy in the restaurant was great (not to noisy and not to quiet either). It's kid friendly but be prepared to allow them to pitch in on the cooking."
    Dined on 5/7/2014
  • "We went in late at night and were able to sneak in a fun and filling meal. Best place for good beer and a $1.50 beer."
    Dined on 5/7/2014
  • "Meat is fresh and great. But servers seemed too busy to bring food on time so we had to wait for a while without any food on table. I wish they have more variety of meat, flavor and vegetables."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "They have happy hour all day on Mondays and every other day of the week from opening until 6:30 and then again at 9:30pm ( I think ) until closing. On Sat. and Sun. they have unlimited champagne or Mimosa's or Bellini's for $7.00. They also have buckets of premium beer (6) for $10.00. The deals that they have are to numerous to mention here but don't forget to get their rewards card. After spending $200.00 you get $25.00 off your check. It's a fun place to eat. The food is good and the servers are great. Oh...also....don't forget to make a reservation because they are busy ALL of the time and the wait without a reservation can be as long as two hours."

  • "Fun evening of cooking small portions of food at the table and hanging out with friends with a cold beer. This restaurant chain is terrific for this and we recommend it for a fun night out. "
    Dined on 4/26/2014
  • "The food is fresh and the meat is tender. The lunch specials save you a ton! Try the garlic fried chicken appetizer; it's the best!"

  • "It's fun to try new things and here it's easy. They have great prices and happy hour is almost all day. I will be coming back!"
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "I've been going here since the menu was ALL you can eat $22 to $6 for 1 low end meat selection. Turn off by price/meat choice especially on Fri/Sat. It's getting very limited w/ the meat choices for a reasonable price. I'm better off eating at a steak house like outback for the price/size than 2-3 pieces of meats @$13+ with limited choice. Bento set pricing are for carbs, salad, soup, with additional cost for $2 adds for veggies/fried appetizers than bbq meat of your selection. Service was good - attentive. Too bad for constant menu changes that take away meat selection choices."

  • "My boyfriend and just celebrated our 3 year anniversary at Gyu-Kaku. He LOVES BBQ and seafood so this seemed like a good place. I have been to the Kailua location on O'ahu so I knew the food to be good, but wasn't sure of its California chain. Toward the end of dinner he said, "This was the best overall dining experience I've had in a long time." In my reservation, I asked for a private booth. We received a phone call reminder the day of. Arrived five minutes before and we're given a table right next to the kitchen which was PERFECT because our table didn't face others and offered intamicay. Staff constantly checked in and greeted as they passed which was fun. Simple, but tasteful decor which gave great ambience. We give four thumbs up."

  • "This is not a place if you want an intimate, relaxing dinner. Mostly frequented by the younger crowd who drink too much and get too rowdy. Otherwise food is good. A little expensive if not for the specials. I recommend early dinner before 6 or late after 9. Otherwise, it's a fun place to go for special occasions."

  • "WE HAD A REALLY GOOD TIME THE LAST TIME WE WERE THERE. AS ALWAYS WE HAD NO COMPLAINTS. I MYSELF WISH THAT YOU STILL HAD THE REGULAR SOY SAUCE. I WOULDN"T MIND IF THERE WERE FOUR CHOICES."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "This place never disappoints! The value BBQ courses are a great deal for a few people, especially if you all want to try a few new things. Happy hour is always packed but prices and quality are awesome!"

  • "Waiter was too busy to take care of our additional order, first he said no fried food is available (we were there at 1pm)Yet, we saw he served another table with fried calamari. We approached him again, he then took our order, yet our fried calamari did not ever come. So, we cancelled it and left."

  • "I go to gyu kaku in torrance and i usually get good service. But this time the waiter was not attentive and had me waiting a long time to order and never came back to check to see how i was doing."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "I had a late 10:00 reservation. I didn't know the place closed at 11:00. I felt rushed and the staff rudely cleaned up around the my table. They never even said "excuse me" or "would you like me to take the plates out of your way?". If the late night service is going to be rushed, they shouldn't allow late reservations."
