Gyu-Kaku - East Villagefun experience for kids & adultsbrought a couple of my sons friends here and they loved cooking their own food - they loved the food - lots of choices for all sorts of eaters but the peice de la resistance was of course cooking s'mores over the fire for dessert - brilliant!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLots of fun and delicious to boot!!We had a wonderful time here. Even though we were a little late they held our reservation after we called. Service is outstanding, with a warm greeting to start the evening off right. Our waiter was Karma, and he could not have been more attentive. The entire experience is a lot of fun with your own personal grill right in the middle of the table. Yes it can get a little hot, but cool yourself off with their excellent cocktails and beers. The food was really delicious and just enough. Be forewarned this is a party place, and not a venue for a romantic quiet evening. Go with friends and you will have a blast.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious meats; wonderful eveningThe service was excellent, the meats high quality, and the happy hour prices very good. We had a lovely evening and will certainly return.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service!Frank was our waiter. He had a great attitude and was very informative. Great food! Try to catch happy hour!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat interactive group dining.Went here with a semi-large group for happy hour. I was early for my reservation so I sat in the seating area by the bar. While seated, I met the bartender (his name is Michael)....this man was the highlight of my dining experience, he was funny, energetic, and mixed up 3 perfect drinks. I told him to surprise me and make anything he wanted, each time I was presented with something I wouldn't ordinarily order, but the drinks were awesome! The food is good as always...I'm a frequent diner at all 3 locations in the city, it's a great place to kick back and relax with some friends DURING HAPPY HOUR. I emphase the happy hour because the menu prices are discounted for most drinks and food items.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMbirthday dinner for twoThis was the perfect choice for our bday dinner for two! We ordered the spring course with the help of our trusty server who taught us how everyrhing worked. Great food, which came out quickly and was a bkast to grill on the tables. Definitely going back!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMYes to Gyu!I frequent this place often. The food, drinks, and service is excellent. Lovely for dates, groups, happy hour meals and drinks, etc. Gyu-Kaku IS my favorite place to dine in NYC.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMOUTH WATERING GOODThis is the second of the locations I have visited for this restaurant and it was amazing. The service was very good. The only issue I had was the server not understanding or speaking English very well. The ambiance was great. Very large restaurant. Nice bar. Great for a romantic date or girls/guys night out. A real fun environment. The food was mouth watering good. Prime meats at a decent price. This location is a little more expensive than the Upper East side location but still reasonable for the prime cut of meats. Definitely recommend all to check it out. You will not be sorry. Next stop, Times Square location! Can't wait!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is very good! SoThis place is very good! So far the best Cook it Yourself BBQ restaurants. The service is outstanding because they tell you how long to cook each meat and tell you the recommendations (only if you ask directly). Additionally our waiter helped us navigate through the menu. I'd recommend going back because it is worth the price for the amount of food we had (during happy hour).4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe late night happy hourThe late night happy hour special was great. The restaurant is spacious so it's never too crowded for a busy place. Service is quick since you cook your own food over the grill.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMreally fun place. great forreally fun place. great for a birthday. kids love it.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNot your usual dining, butNot your usual dining, but engaging and entertaining with an element of surprise!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Gyu Kaku! Always greatWe love Gyu Kaku! Always great food, service, and atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat time, food, and peopleFood was amazing, as always. Ther service is quick. They are always clearing your table of empty plates so there is never cluster. They key is to go during one of their happy hour times ( check their website for availability). Their drinks are good, decently strong ... At least for me.... This is a fun place with just you and your special someone or a group of friends. Everyone has a good time. You would think going to a place to eat an having to cook your own food isn't fun, but it actually is. Prices aren't bad either!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFun! different! cool! LOveFun! different! cool! The East Village locality by Far is the best in terms of service and the vibrant atmosphere
-Happy,laid back people come here
Happy hour! is the time to make merry - reduced prices on the drinks and the meat
along with grilling at the table over some good conversation makes it priceless!
I only have good things to say about this place!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMKOBE STYLE!3rd time coming and tried a different BBQ course. They're all amazing. This time the Kobe-style course was superb. Our server, Daniel, was great! Explained every dish and checked up if everything was good. I have forgotten my Gyu-Kaku card and Kitti was nice enough to look up my card info. Definitely awesome!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a fun place to makeIt was a fun place to make good tasting food. I don't have anything bad to say about the service or the food but it just felt a bit like an Asian themed Applebee's on the inside which would be fine if it wasn't located in the East Village (where there are amazing authentic asian cuisines).3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWent there for lunch, theirWent there for lunch, their lunch menu was great. The food was good. Mainly had meat and one side. This was our first time to a do-it-yourself hibachi. Kind of kept burning meat in the beginning, but practice eventually led to perfection.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommend Japanese BBQ!! Delicious!I took my boyfriend out during happy hour in the evening and it was great. The service, food, and atmosphere was better than expected. Great place to bring someone special or have a bunch of friends get together. Definitely will go again.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
