Diner Reviews
  • "The food was great, but we did have a problem with the grill that was quickly fixed."

  • "Great deal for a group to check out for their happy hour. Almost everything on the menu is half off. One turnoff was that they serve all their grilled meats by weight so don't be surprised if you get 6 pieces of "horumon" for 2 orders...it just means you got bigger pieces...well lets hope that is true."

  • "For my girlfriends 30th birthday she wanted to try Hibachi. After searching for a good spot we decided on Gyu-Kaku. Overall the servers were great and helped everyone out being our first time eating Hibachi. Food was great too. Nothing bad to say. Definitely will be going back."

  • "You can expect the same great service on every single visit from almost all the servers at any locations of Gyukaku in NYC! Our parents were very impressed about our server's attentive service. We will keep having our birthday dinner for our family 4/yr... Thank you Gyukaku."

  • "Went here to celebrate my husbands birthday and had an amazing time. Dinner was delicious and service was on point! Highly recommend to go!"

  • "Waited for my guest at the bar and was never greeted. After waiting ten minutes without service my guest arrived and we were sat immediately. I explained to the server that this was a date and we did not want to be rushed. After five or so minutes it was obvious that we were not going to have the time or privacy we wanted. The coursed meal for two we ordered came out almost all together. The salad appetizer was still on the table when i asked the server to slow down the courses. As is this werent bad enough instead of being slowed down, they brought all of out food out...including desert. The grill wasn't oiled so our scallops were a mess. There was no offer to allow us to try more scallops, instead they gave us another grill."

  • "We didn't realize we'd be cooking our meals at this place. It may be fun for people with kids, but it's a drag otherwise. And at $80 for a few small plates of raw meat and fish, it was absurdly pricey for what we got. The dessert, some weird kind of ice cream cake, was lousy. In all, an experience never to be repeated."

  • "This is definitely a regular place for my friends and I, whenever we have a craving for red meat. I highly recommend -Harami skirt steak, -Kobe Style bistro hanger steak -premium sirloin -Toro Beef (beef bacon) -Spicy Miso Chili Wings -Lady M Green Tea Mille Crepe cake Note -Expect to spend $30-$60 per person for BBQ -50% off drinks & 20-50% off selected food at Happy Hours, best time to go! -Tight reservation policy, get there within 5 minutes of reserved time or lose your spot."

  • "We just LOVE this place!!! It has always been a sure bet, every time, and have kept coming back over and over. The meat is excellent, they have many different cuts, and the sauces are great. Always happy to have the green tea millefeuille cake (though it is a mystery how we ever even have space for it)! Always a fun time! You can't go wrong!"

  • "I have been here for couple times. I like going there for lunch cause it is not noise and you can actually chat wih your friend when you are eating. The special lunch comboes are offerable. The ambience and the service were great. The waiters came to change the grill for several times when the dishes came up, and refill the water. Whenever you want something, any waiters saw you, and they will come up to serve you. I felt great like I don't need to raise my hand and look around to find someone to serve me. Also the food was delicious. I will recommend you to try the green tea crepe and flap steak. I order it every time, must try."

  • "I've been to a different Gyu-Kaku location before and liked it - this place was a wonderful Valentine's Day date. We were seated as soon as both of us arrived, the food came in a very reasonable amount of time. We ordered the Geisha set from the happy hour menu. The food was all wonderful, the meat was tasty and the s'mores were a lot of fun - even if my date did drop his marshmallow. Ten thumbs up! :D"

  • "Went here for v-day and it was a nice place to go to. The food was good but I've been to the location in white plains and it was better there. It was a nice date and we had a good time. Service was excellent just wish the food was as good as the first time I went here."

  • "Took my date here for Valentine's Day and it was perfect. We were 20mins late because we had trouble finding the location (so we lost our reservation) but they were understanding and seated almost right away. The ambiance was perfect, our waitress was great (always smiled), and the food/price was more than fair. My date thought it was absolutely beautiful and she thoroughly enjoyed the night and experience. Great spot...1 of my faves"

  • "I always like Japanese food and gyu kaku is a great place for yakiniku. Happy hour prices are acceptable but dinner is little bit expensive. And I also go for green tea crepes."

  • "We went there on the Sunday and they had an all day happy hour which some items are 1/2 price included drinks. The drinks are very weak and I had to order separate shot, meat are tough and chewy and 2 of 3 different sauces are watery and no taste. They changed everything from original Gyukaku taste and menu. I did not enjoyed it."

  • "Come here for the happy hour specials! 50% off - great lycee martine for $5!! And the bistro kobe for $12 was amazing! I highly recommend this place - fun atmosphere and good quality food. Might be only worth it when the happy hour specials are happening though."

  • "Been here a bunch of times over the last 3 years and I love it everytime I go. The food is prepared and seasoned for you, all you have to do is throw it on the BBQ and enjoy. Such a cool idea and a great experience. I always get the Geisha meal for 2. You get a ton of food at a very reasonable price. Dinner for two with a few drinks normally puts my bill at a little over $100 so it's very affordable too. I really love their skirt steak and Kobe beef - delicious!! They also have this plum wine that is really good also - ask got for the Umeshu. I definitely plan on going back for sure."
