Gyu-Kaku supplies you with
everything you need to have an amazing meal with a group of friends or just that special someone. My latest trip to Gyu-Kaku was with my lady and we had the best time picking from the menu and preparing our own food. I have also been by myself for lunch and with a large group of friends. Every time I dine at Gyu-Kaku is a great experience. I look forward to future visits. The prices are very reasonable and if you happen to go during happy hour they practically give you the food. The service is top notch and the food is always fresh and delicious."

the food was delicious and the
atmosphere was great! the happy hour options were great too. the service was 50/50 - at times they too attentive when services was NOT needed, but at the times they were needed they were no where to be found. will probably be back for late night snack and for happy hour was good for oc restaurant week"

This was my first time going to
this one in Brea. It was a world of difference at the Brea one vs. the Huntington Beach one. The service and food was excellent but the atmosphere at the Brea location was very noisy compared to the quieter Huntington Beach location. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good night out and great food."

I felt the portions were a but
small for the price. Overall though I was satisfied with the service and flavor of the food. Just didn't feel like I got my money's worth"

never coming back to Gyu-Kaku. Id
rather go to Tangiers in Loz Feliz or Castle AYCE in the west side. My husband & I had dinned at the on in Pasadena for valentines day a few years ago and it WAS GREAT!! so deciding on where to go on Valentines day dinner...we thought here. Big mistake. $120.00 for a dinner and it wasnt AYCE. Wish I can get my money back. Miso soup wasnt even hot, took FOREVER to get our 1st courses..."

Food has great flavor. You cook it
right at your table. Staff were all so nice and provided wonderful service."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Service great! just all around
wonderful place to hang out and have a drink and grill some food. Ps. the HH is awesome!!"
Dined on 2/12/2014
Food was okay to good. Servers
worked hard to make things work for us. The restaurant was so loud that is was nearly impossible to talk with people on the other side of the table. Not the best for our family experience."
Dined on 12/23/2013
I was very pleased with the
location of this restaurant, close to the parking structure and within walking distance of other shops and restaurants. I liked the ambience and service very much. The waitress was very attentive."
Dined on 1/25/2014
Loved the whole experience.
Japanese bbq concept & cooking your own food with friends, fun & different. Lively place, a little too loud on the music, hard to converse but overall lively and great staff."
Dined on 1/17/2014
Food is outstanding and awesome
customer service. Can't complain."
Dined on 1/4/2014
Great Tasting Meat! Servers are so
friendly. However, the music is too loud for us. But we love this place and will return for more food."
Dined on 1/6/2014
The food was excellent, fresh
ingredient and good quality. The services is prompt and checkups are often. the only thing that i have against this experience is towards the tables itself. I made reservation for a party of 5, however, we were seated at a table for 4. In looking around the restaurant, i see the layouts only has configurations for parties of 4. this meant that we had to fight to clear out space and overall the table was very crowded and cluttered until the very end. But, as the layout is pretty much set, i don't see how this can be improved for a fairly long time."

The ambiance of the restaurant was
great, food was amazing. No complaints on either of those. Service fell short of what I expected being that hefty price tag of the meals. Our waitress forgot multiple items and we kindly had to remind her of what was missing. We could hear nearby tables complain about this as well. Overall, the food was good. Happy hour options were pretty good. However, if you're going for happy hour make sure you order quickly as that hour goes by fast! I would give this restaurant a second chance and maybe in the future give the service a better review."

An absolute treat, I try to make
it here at least once a month."

First time visit to celebrate my
husbands birthday and try something different. Greeted and seated immediately with our reservation. I thought the appetizer portions were small, but when so many bowls and trays kept coming, I understood! We ordered the gyu-kaku course meal with edamame, salad, soup, sukiyaki crispy rice, shrimp, chicken, skirt steak, short ribs, filet mignon, and spinach. A LOT of food! No problem substituting broccoli due to my husbands mushroom allergy. The server cleared the empty meat trays and other bowls quickly and kept our drinks filled. She also quickly swapped our our grill a couple of times to eliminate smoke. Dessert also a fun s'more to finish our grilling. We'll be back with a couple of guests soon!"

I absolutely love this place!
happy hour is always great to attend! the service is wonderful, the workers always explain how to cook your meat and explain it to you. try everything you will not be disappointed. give the lobster nuggets a try! I'm not a big fan of seafood but they're great!. xo"

First time to this restaurant...
loved it! Think: a cross between Benihana & the Melting Pot. Meat was delicious as well as the wine. Very attentive service through their extensive busy-ness that evening."
Dined on 12/6/2013
Love happy hour. Good for date
night. Not good for kids. The only thing they liked on the menu was the ramen and the dumplings. This is the like the Japanese style of Korean bbq. Good but pricey."
Dined on 12/6/2013
Our whole dining experience was
very fun and exciting. My child wants to go there all the time now just to cook shrimp."
Dined on 12/1/2013
I decided to take my date here to
the Brea location. Our server was Gianni. He was a great waiter to us, on point and knew the menu. Food was prepared quickly and we both enjoyed our dining experience. Prices are reasonable and the quality is superb. Customer service is a priority for them and it shows. We'll be back."
Dined on 12/6/2013
We love going here because you
cook your own food right in front if you. Not a place for a first date unless your a griller"
Dined on 12/2/2013
Neat dining experience with the
AYCE Thanksgiving dinner. Only complaint is the 90-min window. Although it was sufficient time, we felt rushed which prevented the 5-star rating. Suggest allowing 2 hrs like other timed AYCE places."
Dined on 11/28/2013
The Gayu-Kaku in Brea is different
from the one in Pasadena, I would much rather go to the one in Pasadena. The ambience is much better the overall look and is experiance is different between the two. The food is about the same, but the Menu is a bit confusing."
Dined on 11/22/2013
I love this restaurant chain, it's
always what I want it to be & I'm never disappointed."
Dined on 11/7/2013
The ambience sets the mood for
this chic corner restaurant. Cooking your own food on the grill at your table makes the whole eating experience fun. The service is excellent as well. Has me coming back for more. Especially for the quality of meat and the scrumptious Garlic Noodles."
Dined on 11/5/2013
Food was decent, good place to
hang out with friends."
Dined on 11/5/2013
Well, I already reserved and I
came earlier which was 10 minutes before the reservation time and the hostess asked me to wait around 20 minutes but the fact I had to wait around 30 minutes. They don't have the place for waiting, we just stood up in the corner or the tiny bar. when we sat down. the waiter was pretty nice but after the food came out and he just grabbed the plates that he assumed it was empty without asking and go. The food are so so... I prefer Gyu-Kaku Rancho is better. service, food and room also much better. I never have any problem when I make reservation with the one at Rancho Cucamonga. They really take care the one with the reservation first."

Took my boyfriend here last night
(9/28/13) and had the best time ever!! We are big fans of the "Melting Pot" idea where we can cook our own food at our own pace. And as first timers, we were hoping it would be similar! Upon arriving, we were greeted and with our reservations, we were seated quickly. Once we ordered a-la-carte, we received our food quickly and when the meat came out, they explained the cooking times, exactly how to cook it, and what kind of sauces they had. We were very impressed and the food was great! Some of our favorites were the Broccoli and Cheese, Spinach with Garlic, Filet Mignon, and Bistro Hanger Steak. Overall, we had a great experience and we will definitely go back!"

I thought the food and table
service was very good, but upon arriving we sat at the small bar and i ordered a martini of Kettle One up with a splash of chamborg. the person behind the bar i don't believe was a bartender poured a 2oz shot of Kettle One and a splash of chamborg. When she realized it only filled the martini glass less than half she decided up put LIME juice in the drink as a filler. when i complained about the LIME juicfe she offered to make me another drink, but i had to order a double to get a full martini. Very Disapointing Bar Service !!!!!!"

To much work on a date. The food
was fair at best. Signature rice had a burnt flavor to it. Great service, friendly and helpful staff, just not impressed with the menu and not big on cooking my own food when going out to dinner."
Dined on 9/7/2013
The ambience was too bright with
all the sun blazing into our faces with no way of escaping the hot sun. We ordered the Hirami, hanger steak and tongue along with kalbi soup and gaku salad. The tongue was so rubbery that I found it hard to chew and swallow. The other two meats were marinated with too much saltiness and the soup tasted like burrito soup. We were all stunned by how awful the soup tasted. We were so embarrassed to bring my mom here after all the hype and great expectations she couldn't experience. When the bill came out, my mom suggested that we would've had way better food going to a Korean bbq place instead."

First time trying japanese bbq and
it was an exceptional experience. the meat was great quality. i will definitely come back again!"
Dined on 8/11/2013
I have been going to Gyu-Kaku for
years, and when this location opened I was so happy! The salad is aLways delicious, and the quality of the meats is as excellent as it has been at other locations. The hot green tea was flavorful, too. If they can just bring back more of the tradional Japanese items on the menu, such as yaki onigiri and dorayaki, it would be perfect!"
Dined on 8/6/2013
The food was excellent. We had the
best waitress her name is Ky. She kept our glasses full, cleared our table often and was very friendly. She helped make our experience memorable. We will most definetly be back."
Dined on 7/22/2013
The food are good but i think the
meat are way too salty..."
Dined on 7/20/2013
Great for small plates or if
you're hungry, get the price for 2 deals. Comes with a good amt of food. Servers are very attentive. Small location here. Come early or wait will be long! Late night Happy hour from 9pm to close daily."
Dined on 7/20/2013
Delicious food, over the top
service , great happy hour menu and hours! We enjoyed our early dinner very much! Love this new location!"
Dined on 7/14/2013
This was our second time visiting
Gyu-Kaku and we absolutely LOVE it! We brought our kids this time and while it may have not been as enjoyable or relaxing an experience it was still wonderful. Food and service are spot on. We will try to make this a monthly visit but preferably without the kids."
Dined on 7/8/2013
New location, staff are not season
and still have a lot of training to do as many stuff had to be asked for and reminded of."
