  • "The food was great and the indoor bar-b-q was a great idea. Our server was nice to go thru the menu with us and she was very friendly. The only thing to complaine is the front desk girl that was on duty on Sunday, June 1st, 2014. She was very unfriendly to my guest as he walked into the restaurant. I asked my guest to head into the restaurant while I drove down the road to find parking. As he was entering the restaurant, the front desk girl did not greet him. He then said to her that he had a reservation at 1pm and that the other person was looking for parking. She then responded to my guest with an attitude, saying: "feel free to find a seat at the bar while waiting, we are not to seat anyone until all the members of the party arrives.""

  • "Very Japanese in feel, as it is a Japanese chain I think, and nice to have higher quality yakiniku BBQ place here. The end part of service was really slow - 40 mins to get s'mores plate (just raw to grill ourselves) and check and parent done. This was the non kid friendly part! It was late and we didn't expect the extra 45 mins of meal time. But they loved the food. Ask which meats are plain if that matters and get things like corn that they will like. But very nice atmosphere and good to have in town."

  • "I come here a lot for happy hour and for dinner. It's one of the place in the neighborhood I love to chill with my friends. The foods in here is good. My favorite would be the grill beef tongue, duck breast, chicken liver and finally the green tea crepes! Never had enough of them!"

Best for Japanese people living here for a long time. All popular menu of beef (harami, karubi, ...) taste very good. The volume of each beef menu is similar to Japanese standard (not so much)."

  • "We had a great time here! Food was great and the ambiance was very nice. Our kids were loud but it wasn't that noticeable as the overall noise level was pretty high and the waiters did a great job accommodating our hungry bunch! Highly recommend it for the food and the experience!"

  • "This was our first time at Gyu-Kaku and it was one the best dining experiences we've ever had! The quality of the food, establishment, and service was fantastic and exceeded our expectations of what it would be like. At first, I had trouble and was a bit annoyed with getting a reservation at my desired time (the typical "high" time for restaurants), but after entering the restaurant I could understand why because the place is very popular. The food was absolutely, beyond life delicious! Very filling and many many options and choices to choose from. Overall, a very enjoyable, interactive, and cultural experience and will definitely come again and again. I've already recommended GK to friends and family! Thank you for what you do :)"

  • "I love eating family-style and this restaurant offers the perfect opportunity for this. We had appetizers, tons of meat, veggies, desserts, and even a bottle for the table for under 30 each. They gave us ample amount of time to look at the extensive menu in the beginning and by the time we were ready to order, we were given the happy hour menu. Great time, laughs, and eats."

  • "Lovely ambiance and pretty good food. The Meat Lover's Special came as prescribed. Kobe special gave an illusion of huge portions, but was relatively petite. The sukiyaki bibimbap was not the best. Dessert was interesting especially with the banana cheesecake fritter. The server is pretty funny giving lots of help in terms of using the grill successfully. "

  • "A friend had taken his current girlfriend here on their first date, and told me about their experiences. I went ahead and made a reservation (recommended), for myself and my date, not too long after hearing about it. I recommend the Geisha combo. Sufficient amount of food for 2 hungry people. Combo consisted of a variety cuts of beef, chicken, asparagus, soup, hand tossed salad, and desert (smores). Very tasty, good marinades on the meats. Speedy and attentive staff. Grill was changed promptly before things got burnt and smokey. Food came out very quickly as well (hey, it's raw food after all). My date loved the Gyu-Kaku. She said it was her second favorite date spot after our Valentine's day dinner. Will look forward to visiting again!"

  • "This was my first time at a Japanese BBQ restaurant and I loved it. Great food, cheap drinks and fun cooking your own food. I would definitely recommend you try it atleast once. Hint: not an expensive restaurant but be careful ordering. My meal for two wound up at $90! ( but to be fair, my date is very extra in his spending)"

  • "my boyfriend and I got the Vday Samurai special for 60 something dollars. We had to change our reservation time and they were very accommodating and we were seated immediately which was great. This place is pretty loud and you have to cook meats and serve yourself so would not recommend for a formal dinner or anything. Our server, Julian, was helpful in helping us choose what we wanted and side dishes and meats were arranged nicely. The salad was nice and refreshing and the gyoza was crispy. The Samurai special was really good for first timers to try out the meats, which were mostly amazing. The chicken and shrimp were alright too but not something I'd order a la carte. I wanna go back already :)"

Unfortunately, when we arrive for our reserved time, they said people were still eating and we would have to wait. We ended up waiting for about 15 minutes before we were seated. Other than that, we had a great dinner."

  • "So right off the gate have to say we were 15 minutes late & altho we were very apologetic about it,the hostess wass down right rude & almost yelled at each person in the party.Not appreciated at all.There were not 100s of people waiting for the table of 3 especially since open tables was showing availability every 15 mins.The wait staff were very nice & friendly but the timeliness of service was terrible.We had to wait for almost 30-45 minutes before the drinks were served.The food came much faster.All this said,the food was incredibly good & flavorful.Everything we ordered was made to perfection.The BBQ items were marinated to perfection and the flavors was fantastic.The hotpot was tasty and irressitable.Service needs attention."

  • "The food was good! However, had a horrible dining experience. Although we were seated are our reserved time, we were put way in the back where there was a huge group having a pretty roundy time. I couldn't even hear what my date was saying. Then there was the putting of the chairs on the tables whilst customers were still eating (well waiting for our food). I'm sorry but you do not put the chairs up while people are still there. Might as well tell me to leave. Also, food took way to long! And finally, the wait staff sat behind us eating while customers, including me, we're still there! Rude! Finally, our waiter left us mid service. I understand it may be a new restaurant, but it needs a management cleanup. One of my worst experiences."

  • "Gyu Kaku is one of my favorite chains and I visited the Boston location for the first time for their happy hour. The food is great but the service was absolutely awful and I don't know what kind of system they are using to deliver food to the tables. I ordered several items that never made it to the table and got charged for random items on my bill. I ordered a sauce and the waitress delivered it after she turned off the grill and we had cooked all of the meat and asked me if I still wanted it with no apologies. Great prices and great food, awful service."

When I went with a large group on a busy saturday night it was understandable for service to be lacking but I went there on a not-so-busy sat evening the other day and service was still lacking"
