Gwynnett StBrooklyn rockscreative delicious dishes - cashew vegetable dish and the chicken were standouts and of course the whiskey bread. Drinks were first rate - bartender can make anything - better than what you have had before. Short trip from Manhattan and we raised the average age by decades on the L train. Very nice area.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food! This was our second time eating here and it was as good as the first. Had the chef's tasting menu both times with the wine pairings and I would highly recommend it. The atmosphere is casual but don't be fooled, the food and service is seriously top-notch!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing presentationI was blown away with presentation of every dish. Each was a masterpiece. Tiny edible flowers, micro herbs, just picked baby radishes, open peas, etc. We started with whiskey bread that everybody raves about. A hearty portion that comes with a plate of butter, ricotta, lardo, and small radishes. It's very good... for breakfast maybe, but a bit too filling for a starter. The tongue app was very good. The meat had nice texture and melted in your mouth. The fluke app was a bit underwhelming even though the presentation was nice. Both beef and pike entrees were so fresh and cooked perfectly. The main ingredients shined really nicely and the medley of vegetables surrounding each just brought the whole dish together. Tasted healthy. Impressive.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAs Good As Everyone SaysGwynett St seems to be getting a lot of rave reviews from critics and diners. Believe them. Excellent, inventive food that emphasizes terrific ingredients. Nice, low-key atmosphere. A first-rate cocktail menu. All at entirely reasonable prices. This place has certainly been discovered...but it's not overcrowded.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPaul & The Food Were GreatFamily in town and this was our last night dinner (meaning we were probably a little loud and rednecky). Paul, our server, was great and knowledgeable and took alot of flack from my mom....well. The food was excellent and they do a really good job of pairing things you don't expect. Also, I think the menu (minimalist) is there so that you ask questions, and if you have Paul, you should fee free.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, cerebral cuisineEvery dish I tried was spectacular. The cocktails were equally impressive. Our server was excellent. He had to be, since the explanations of the dishes on the menu were not sufficient, and the names of the dishes only gave you a very general idea of what to expect. That was really my only complaint.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you are looking for a prettyIf you are looking for a pretty restaurant don't bother going here. However, it is a pleasant setting with a great bar. If you are looking for a restaurant with great food creatively prepared this is a must go destination. Start with the Whiskey Bread- it is unique and amazing. The beef and fish entrees were equally terrific. The server was friendly, but more important, knew her menu and could answer any question.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMone of the bestWe went to this restaurant on the basis of a New York Times review and it was heavenly. Our initial wait person was Skyler (lots of people are involved with your service here and it is all seamless). We ordered the chicken and the duck and each was remarkable.
The chef has lots of talents, so it a great place to return to as well. Enjoy as we did.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGemThis restaurant will definitely be a place we go back to. The service was amazing as if we were regulars but it was our first time. Highlights included the whiskey bread (must have), sunflower app, chicken entree and salmon entree. The cocktail and wine list was great. The bartender was very helpful in navigating both drink and food menus. The chocolate dessert was also delicious. This place knows how to take care of you. Can't wait to go back and try other choices from their menu.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMInnovative Food and CocktailsIn an unlikely neighborhood of Brooklyn, you'll find a fine-dining experience that provides a lot of bang for your buck in the NYC area. The tasting menu allowed us to experience the unusual and complex combination of foods, textures and tastes of the restaurant. We especially enjoyed the lamb and duck dishes, and, yes, the spinach-in-everything dessert! We also learned that Gwynnett St. has a brilliant cocktail menu that is getting wide acclaim throughout Manhattan. It is a reputation that is deserved from the four cocktails that we enjoyed!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting CreationsVery good high class food. Very interesting creations with many different and some exotic ingredients. Notable, extensive, and hard to find amaro list, some amaro's only found in Italy. Prices are bit on the high side for the location in the city and in Brooklyn, but I guess that comes with the territory of having very favorable reviews by highly regarded food reviewers. Overall very good experience, mainly for because of the tasty exotic food creations.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSerious foodIf you hadn't read reviews, you might not expect the level of serious food Gwynnett...as the decor is just sort of ordinary. I suppose decor is somewhat subjective, but I was very underwhelmed by the space--it feels sort of suburban. Not what you would expect for an edgy Brooklyn location that is serving world -class serious gastronomical creations. The service is wonderful, though they did mess up our order. Fantastic mezcal cocktail at the bar. It's definitely worth a visit. Just wish they'd give it a makeover.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVeggie DelightI was thrilled that Gwynnett St offers an amazing vegetarian dish. Their Cashew was thoughtfully created, plated and delicious. So many Brooklyn restaurants are aggressively meatitarian. It was refreshing to find a place that takes the time to knock the veggie dishes out of the park too.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMSophisticated, challenging, delish!Intense and unique flavor combinations. Great personable, relaxed yet attentive service! Cocktails and wine were superb. Will definately return.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMReally delicious and interestingReally delicious and interesting food, very knowledgeable and pleasant wait staff.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing as alwaysOrder whatever you want... you won't be disappointed.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat casual vibe with excellentGreat casual vibe with excellent food. The whiskey bread is dangerous! Awesome cocktails! The entrees were great. I had the salmon and my husband had the duck. Wonderful.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect moment for a quiet dinnerI went there on a Saturday night with friends to have a nice meal and talk about our life and future plans, as friends like to do when they hang out. Food was delicious, my starter (salad) was very good, but nothing out of the box, my friends starter were more specials and delicious too, I play safe.
Main course was divine, the meat was cook a la perfection, it was really a blast. Dessert was creative and delicious too. Service was discreet but caring, and we were not bother but loud music our tables around too close. Decoration is simple, the blue wall is beautiful but the rest is not outstanding, but I prefer good food to outstanding decoration. A recommandable table for romantic dinner, first date, dinner with friends or foodies escape!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, creative and funHad a super meal at Gwynnett St. Food is amazing; creative combinations and superb flavors. Lovely room, moderate noise/music/conversation levels make for a very, very nice evening. The wine list is eclectic and the staff quite knowledgeable about the food and wine selections and pairings. A must visit in Williamsburg!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWilliamsburg GemWent for my wife's birthday.
One of the best dining experiences we've ever had.
Too many positives to list.
Amazing cocktails.
Do not miss the salmon/lentils/fiddlehead fern.
Best tofu entree on the planet.
Enjoyed a delicious Italian white wine.
Lovely space. Very relaxed atmosphere.
This one is on the regular rotation. Wow!
Almost forgot-- Don't miss the bread-- you won't believe it!!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative Cooking in WilliamsburgOur dinner at Gwynnett Street was an outstanding experience. The space was small but cozy, with exposed brick. It had the feel of a neighborhood place, but the food was well above that level. Cocktails were generous. I had the chicken liver mousse starter with apple and chestnuts and my spouse had the crab. Our mains were duck breast with grilled escarole and candied apricots, while my spouse had the pork roast. We shared the coconut “snow” dessert. Everything was flawlessly prepared. The restaurant is known for some “challenging” ingredients, but our server was very helpful; and in fact, the food was quite accessible. Do order the whiskey bread. Last but not least, both food and beverages are well-priced, given the high quality.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMperfectWe didn't realize that Gwynnette St was one of the 12 best restaurants for 2012 when we decided to go there. Now we know why. The food was amazing! From the cocktails on we were wowed! The service was perfect and we were asked a number of times how we liked everything; very different from the more common arrogance of Manhattan! The stinging nettle soup was really special although a bit pricey. Very green tasting, fresh and different. The duck was probably the best I've ever had with a perfectly grilled endive. The salmon was superb with crisp, seasonal fiddle ferns. We'll be back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved it!!!Our best find in the last 12 months! We loved it so much we'll come back again and again for sure!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and service.Outstanding food and service. Cuisine is creative. We enjoyed our experience very much.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMuA Treat in WilliamsbergWOW! A find in Williamsburg with great Modern American cuisine with French touch. Great wine introduction to Long Island's wine. The light Long Island Viognier goes great with all the dishes. We tried the Tasting Menu and will return for more! Hard to find any Manhattan restaurant that can do it at less than $150 per person. A real bargain and treat! Thanks.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI wasn't crazy about the appetizersI wasn't crazy about the appetizers we had, but my chicken entree was probably one of the best chicken dishes I've had in recent memory. It was simple, but great. My companion had the duck which was also quite good, but maybe could have used a punchier sauce. Dessert was good, but not bowled over. The whiskey bread was great, although wanted to eat the entire loaf. I would get the chicken dish again just to remind myself that fresh, good cooking does exist.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great. HadEverything was great. Had some great cocktails before our meal. For dinner we went with the chefs tasting menu with wine pairing. Some real unique picks on the wine to match our great meal. Service was outstanding. Everyone went out of their to check on us and make sure we were enjoying our evening.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service, great foodWe went on a Friday night. The bartender did everything to ensure that we have a good time. The host was excellent - very clear and accommodating. The service was outstanding -and everybody worked in harmony. I particularly liked the server who brought the plates as he summarized again what was on the plate. Nice touch. The food is inventive with a lot of unique spice combinations. Do not come hungry..the portions are on the small side. The Whiskey bread is very tasty. We will be back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is always amazing. The food is always amazing. They are so good at taking original combinations of ingredients and creating amazing flavors. Great value too, considering them presentation and freshness of the food. I will be going back regularly as long as they stay open, and if they close, something would be seriously wrong with the restaurant industry in New York.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing experience at Gwynnett StWe were very happy to have chosen the tasting menu with wine pairings. Overall, we loved the food and will return to try other menu items. Several of the dishes were flawless. The PUNTARELLA salad with olive, pistachio and blood orange had crisp, bright flavors with a nice balance of textures and sweet & sour flavor. The DUCK with apricot, escarole and yellowfoot chanterelles was the best breast of duck I have tasted, with the paste from the apricot kernels used to great effect, giving the dish a clean earthy note. The ORANGE desert with chicory and cream was paired with a beer that had deep chocolaty and coffee note. I could gone back for seconds.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMNearly perfect modern American foodGreat drinks to start the evening, Green acres was my favourite! Tasting menu was full of culinaristic surprises. The wine pairing was equally nice, decent pours of decent wines.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent and interestingExcellent and interesting food in a welcoming atmosphere. Good service. Inventive cocktails. Warmly recommend.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great dinner here.We had a great dinner here. We opted for the chef's tasting menu. Each dish was beautifully plated, delicious, and creative. I can't wait to go back!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMomg The food was fantastic, omg The food was fantastic, as was the staff. I loved everything about this place3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery plate was so beautifulEvery plate was so beautiful we took pictures. Flavor combinations are truly amazing. For entrees, we tried the Duck, Branzino, Cod and Lamb. Everything was wonderful - but the Branzino was extra special.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGive 'em a Michelin star, already!I have been eating here regularly for more than a year. This restaurant rivals anything in Manhattan, and why they don't have a Michelin star is a mystery to me. I guess the physical space may not be quite up to Michelin standard, but the food is definitely star-worthy. The menu changes regularly, and new dishes never fail to equal or improve on the earlier offerings. It isn't just odd and unexpected combinations of ingredients, although there is some of that to keep things interesting. The dishes are invariably well-thought out and meticulously presented. It's like eating art for your taste buds. If you haven't been to Gwynnett Street you have missed one of the best restaurants in New York - Manhattan included.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMit was well worth the tripit was well worth the trip from Manhattan. The food was exceptional, better then some of Manhattan,s so called new top restaurants.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a truly great meal atHad a truly great meal at Gwynnett Street. While I had the amazing cashew "tofu" (which blew regular soy tofu out of the water--hard to even classify the two as the same thing), my meat-eating husband loved his duck. The whiskey bread was also wonderful.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome place! The staff at Gwynnett St really knows what they are doing! From the moment you walk in they make you feel welcome and happy to be there. Then the food starts to arrive and wow!! You must try the whiskey bread, the sunchokes was a great starter & the dorade was perfectly cooked! Great spot for a date or a late night bite. My wife and I will definitely be back!3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat an amazing time we had! What an amazing time we had! This was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. We really appreciated it, and we had a wonderful dining experience. attentive, knowledgable, friendly staff.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWow! TerrificThere is not a better place, and the customer service is beyond compare.2/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA real surprise--creativeA real surprise--creative food on an unassuming street.1/9/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a glorious meal at GwynnettHad a glorious meal at Gwynnett St a few weeks ago, so we went back with friends -- who weren't impressed. In fact, my wife and I were less blown away the second time, but our enjoyment was compromised somewhat by our friends' indifference. Still, I liked my food immensely. The chef is wildly imaginative, and his palate seduces mine. To me, Gwynnett St is one of Brooklyn's treasures.1/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways excellent and greatAlways excellent and great service. Wish desserts were not so fancy, would prefer more basic options.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AM
