  • "Excellent as always, we had been here several times in previous New Orleans visits. Their service and quality of food is consistently great."

  • "I had high expectations for this place. Everyone I know that has been there has raved about it. I was impressed with absolutely everything (cocktail, appetizer, salad) but my entree. I got their signature dish and it was was just ok. My husband got the blackened swordfish and it was dry and over cooked. Not at all what I would expect from a high end seafood restaurant. I enjoyed the atmosphere and our server, Moose, was fantastic."

  • "The night was absolutely perfect. I was running like an hour late and they still held my table. They had the table set up nice with confetti and a personalized menu for my boyfriend's birthday. Our waiter was super sweet and wished my baby Happy Birthday. This was our second trip there we will definitely go back again.❤️"

  • "Great service, fresh seafood and wrap it up with dessert. It really is that good, oh and try to only eat one biscuit.....impossible."

  • "First of all, GW Finns was on my NOLA dining bucket list and I was more than excited to take a friend there who was visiting from out of town. But the main reason I chose GWF is because they were on the coolinary month list. However, when we got there we find out that they decided to stop doing it, which was a total bummer. I did have a lil hair on my plate, which working in restaurants- I know this happens, but they handled it well and brought a new dish out to me right away and offered me a free cocktail or dessert (took the cocktail, too full for dessert). Can't remember what I had for my entree but as an appetizer we hAd the lobster dumplings and they were amazing! But there were only 5 of them- not nearly enough!"

  • "My family and I dined at GW Fins twice in two weeks. This restaurant is by far the best seafood restaurant in NOLA--the menu changes daily depending on what seafood is available, so all the dishes are the freshest you can find in the city. Not to miss are the lobster dumplings, blue crab pot stickers, crispy soft shell crab, and crispy pork belly. The scalibut, a GW Fins original, is to die for. The parmesan crusted black drum and number#1 seared yellowfin tuna are definitely a must to try. Don't shy away from the specials, though. Leave room for dessert--they are all delicious, but don't miss the salty malty ice cream pie. The wait staff is spot on--couldn't ask for better service. Love this restaurant and will definitely come back."

  • "Have been here before... Will go again. It is a special occasion place because the food is of that caliber. It ain't cheap, but it is worth the price."

  • "our first visit to New Orleans and our first "fancy dinner" our our developmentally delayed daughter. The staff was wonderful, it was an adult restaurant and the food was excellent. The staff spoke directly to her and treated her with respect. This is huge as often people speak over her and about her rather then to her. The food came in courses and was so heavenly. The texture and flavor burst in your mouth and the more you chewed the more the flavor and texture changed. Any further trips to New Orleans will include GW Fins"

  • "This NOLA restaurant did not disappoint! The crab wontons were delicious and my gnocchi was absolutely yummy, and I'm very picky on gnocchi! My husband loved his swordfish too!"

  • "We had a fantastic meal at GW Fins. The food was excellent. The snapper collar appetizer was out of this world. The set us up with a wonderful festive table with complimentary custom menus! I had their white chocolate bread pudding 5 years ago and came back to have it again!"

  • "The food was good and there was plenty to eat. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. We sat in a small dining room that was adjacent to the main room. The service was very good."

  • "Our dining experience at GW Finns was outstanding in every way! When I made reservations online through OpenTable, I requested a table by the window. We were seated promptly upon arrival and taken to what surely was the best table in the house by a window. When I thanked the hostess, she referenced my seating request and said they were happy to accommodate us. Even though the restaurant was packed out (and quite loud), the service was perfect--beginning to end--as was everyone's dinner. We will definitely return to try other dishes on the menu."

  • "In the winter, I love the sizzling smoked oysters on the half shell; in the summer, you can't beat the grilled pork belly. Both of these appetizers are worthy of multiple orders and making them entrees. Funny thin is, I always enjoy my entrees but cannot ever recall what I ordered. Not so with the two apps mentioned at the beginning!"

  • "From the moment we walked in the door on our way to another restaurant last year, we knew we had found a gem. The dining experience was definitely one to remember. Our experience Thursday night was nothing short of our expectations. Even our time spent at the bar while waiting for our table (since we were 25 minutes early) was nothing short of our expectations at GW. Yes, our dining experience was wonderful with our server Carl. He was remarkable! Carl gave us the exact amount of attention and made us feel like we were his special guests. The food - oh my - something to talk about - Jolt Snapper - amazing!!! Google it, GW comes up in images. This is our special place - make reservations and it will be your's too...Thanks Carl-No No No No:)"

  • "Had dinner at GW Fins our first night in town, my birthday. Service was perfect-attentive without smothering...and Jason gave us some great suggestions to check out while in town. Dinner was exceptional. We had the Parmesan crusted Drumfish and the Scalibut. Both prepared superbly with great combinations of flavors and textures. And the bread pudding was divine !! Would highly recommend!"

  • "The staff was friendly and the service was fantastic. We were seated at a corner table by the window, which was great for people-watching along Bienville. My wife took advantage of the August COOLinary menu (a set 3 course dinner) and ordered the mangrove snapper while I ordered the drum with lump crabmeat from the main menu - both were outstanding. We had a great time and the bill was a very reasonable $125 before tip, considering we had drinks and 2 glasses of wine with dinner. First rate experience all around."

  • "We picked this restaurant to try over other New Orleans "traditions" and are so glad with our choice: The staff were all personable and welcoming. No snootiness or upper class 'superiority'--genuinely happy to see us and very helpful with seating, menu, and all our questions. The food was more than awesome--probably not enough superlatives for the succulence and flavorful blendings. The presentation was picture perfect on everything. Facility was modern without being cold--comfortable without kitsch. A very special re-purpose; the architect highlighted the vintage of the building while creating an awesome seascape. Love the use of original supports and the beachiness of the ceiling. Well priced--or try during Coolinary New Orleans."

  • "Food was great! Three course meal selection (Coolinary Offerings) was an economical choice. A la cart menu items were not over priced. Service was excellent. Recognition of my birthday, including the personalized menu, was a nice touch. We could actually carry on a conversation in a normal tone of voice."

  • "I have never noticed the noise level in this restaurant before my most recent visit. We sat in one of the booths near the bar and the noise was excessive. I will request NOT to be seated there in the future."

  • "We took our Danish relatives to this restaurant for 2 reasons, one because my husband had been there on a couple occasions before with coworkers and said the food was awesome and two, because I wanted to experience the food myself. It was really fantastic. It is a bit pricey but worth it for a special occasion."

  • "We've been to NOLA many times, but this was the first time we heard about Fins. Fins had the best food and service of any NOLA restaurant we've been in. Dress code should be noted & a bit pricey, but well worth it!"

  • "We dined on a Monday night. The restaurant was full, the mood was festive and the food was perfectly prepared and served. Carl, our waiter, was knowledgeable and attentive. We all agree we will return."
    Dined on 8/4/2014
  • "Our only negative was that if you come to NOLA to eat, don't get food you can get at an upper end restaurant in your own city. Food and service were good, just not unique (like a Antoine's or Brennans or Bon Ton. There are multiple places in Miami/Fort Lauderdale (our home town) that can match GW for its fish. A little nosy after some very quiet dinners at some of the more traditional NOLA sites. The crab and lobster appetizers wre the highlight along with the Scallion and Halibut (Scallibut) and the roasted scallops."

  • "2 cocktails, 2 apps, 2 entrees, bottle of proseco, and 2 desserts: under $170. In NYC (where I visited from, you could have this total for a dinner at a regular family style chain restaurant. Only you wouldn't have had the quality. For a meal of this quality I could expect to spend ~$400. Check this amazing place out."

  • "I believe New Orleans has one of the best fish cuisine in the US. And GW Fins has the best of New Orleans cuisine in a very elegant environment and with a good choice of wines."

  • "We fly to New Orleans a couple of times a year for the Jazz Festivals. We tried a many different restaurants and GW Fins seafood especially the oysters are the best we've had. Their secret sauce drizzled on top is what makes it what it so special. Service is extra attentive from the whole staff. Make reservation ahead! It is not the most kid friendly, like Mr. B's, but it is a "must go" destination for anyone visiting New Orleans. Too bad they only open for dinner and some seasons do not offer oysters. With open table, we were accomodated with our request for a booth in the back of the restaurant."

  • "We visit NOLA often and like to try a restaurant that is new to us. GW Fins is our best find in awhile. This will be on our list to make a return visit. From waiter, to food, to presentation, everything great."

  • "This was our second time at GW Fins. We loved it so much the first time we decided to take a friend when she came into town. The service is remarkable. Definitely order cocktails! The Three Fins was the favorite at our table. As an after meal drink...don't miss the Espresso martini. We spent the rest of our time in New Orleans trying to find somewhere that could match it. We were not successful. Due to past experience, one of our party could not NOT order the Scalibut. This dish is prepared in a way that seers thin cut scallops into the halibut. It is delicious! Other great items ordered were the Parmesan Crusted Drum and the Wood Grilled Grouper. Not a bad dish in the bunch! Try the apple pie for dessert. You won't be sorry."
